Read our expert review of Sportingbet and the assessment of Sportingbet in all key aspects of online bookmakers
that are essential for a modern, professional and sound online football betting bookmaker.
That includes betting markets offered, odds, their website, in-play (live) betting opportunities, quality of
customer service and promotions.
Sporting Bet are one of the world's biggest bookmakers and have a tremendous presence in the UK and across Europe. They have achieved particularly strong market penetration in Spain, Germany and Turkey, with the clever use of the miapuesta brand in the former country to follow closely in the footsteps of bwin. This is another company that features on the London Stock Exchange, having very recently completed the move to the main market. Sporting Bet were founded in 1998 and have grown quickly thanks to a series of acquisitions and by correctly positioning themselves in various parts of the world.
Sportingbet Review & Ratings
Naturally, Sporting Bet's prices are competitive, although they don't have a reputation for fantastic odds. While their In-Play offering and market coverage are pretty strong, you will not find this firm offering many standout prices on soccer. A recent England friendly against Mexico had them offering 2/5 about the home team compared to 1/2 elsewhere, although they are often prepared to go best price on a number of bigger correct scorelines. Their Asian Handicap lines are also worth a second look.

Sporting Bet are much stronger when it comes to market coverage, something which reflects that they have a global proposition and a very even spread of customers all over the world. It's hard to think of a particular soccer league that's not covered and there's nearly always a handful of markets to choose from. There are over 50 pre-match betting opportunities on the big matches, with the Champions League having 75 markets created. It appears that the bigger the game, the more options you'll have betting-wise.
With roughly twenty-five sports covered at any given time, you're rarely short of betting opportunities and there seems to be particular focus on traditionally US sports such as NFL, ice hockey and basketball. However, in the case of the latter, Sporting Bet have superb coverage of European basketball and that's why they are the sponsor of the Euroleague. They also have a great volleyball service available.

This is a very likeable website, which has a neat ordered lay-out and allows the customer to find their bet very quickly. This is especially the case if your required event is featured as one of the thumbnails on the homepage, although customers may not want casino or poker games being offered to them when they want to place sports bets. Even so, the promotions are nicely structured on the right-hand side of the homepage, while the various sports available is in a traditional left-hand menu.
Like Paddy Power, there are quick links that let customers get straight to 'today's football' and 'next 5 races' and this is particularly impressive as they realise that we all want to place a very quick bet sometimes. When clicking on a selection, this will automatically populate the online bet slip, while the In-Play console takes pride of place in the middle of the homepage.

In-Play Betting at Sportingbet
The In-Play section can often be a little slow to load, although there's no denying that it's one of the best live betting offerings in the industry. The main downside is that you might have to click around the homepage feature to find the event being covered, something which is a bit fiddly if lots of football and tennis games are being covered at any one time. However, clicking on 'In-Play' in the left-hand menu loads up the flash console, while there is a non-flash option available too.
You're almost always guaranteed that Sporting Bet will be covering something live and the console even has sound effects to indicate a goal or corner being achieved. There are typically a dozen live markets being offered in real time, although the look and feel could possibly be improved upon to make the odds changes a little more dynamic.

Sportingbet Customer Service
Once again, top marks for offering round the clock support, while the live chat facility is also good to see. Sporting Bet are particularly fast at getting back to customers through this method, although email and telephone support is also offered. The knowledge of staff indicates that they have been well trained on a variety of bet types and payment queries, while they are also courteous and polite.

Summary of the Sportingbet Ratings Review
Sporting Bet score highly across the board and there are few other firms that can compete with not only the range of markets for each sport, but also the sheer volume of sports themselves. It's clear that this is one of the best operators when it comes to live betting and the level of customer service has always been very strong when we've had a particular query.
