West Brom v Southampton FA Cup, 17th February 3.00pm
Southampton recently went to the Hawthorns in the Premier League to take on the Baggies and came away with a pressure-relieving victory. So it is a quick return for the Saints as they head back there this weekend to battle the Baggies in the FA Cup fifth round. With West Brom’s problems in the Premier League, can they find a bit of cup cheer to motivate them? Or will they fall once again at the hands of the Saints?

West Brom v Southampton FA Cup Betting Tips
West Brom would be looking forward to this game if for no other reason to get away from the pressures of the poor Premier League season that they have been having. At least they have home soil in their favour for this one, but with a recent home defeat against the Saints in the league then that may not even count for much. West Brom’s home form this season reads W2 D7 L5 so it’s been poor all the way from them. In that recent game against Southampton in the league at the Hawthorns, West Brom got themselves a good early lead after just four minutes, but by ten minutes after half time, they were 3-1 down. It’s hard to trust them going forward and at the back which makes this a difficult game to call really. So far in the FA Cup, the Baggies have taken a 2-0 win out at League Two side Exeter and then pulled off a huge shock in taking out Liverpool 3-2 at Anfield. They have been scoring more frequently since Alan Pardew took over to be fair but that has come at the expense of a bit of defensive discipline. Both teams to score at Paddy Power is at 5/6 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 11th, 2018 at 5:42 p.m.).
Southampton have won both Premier League games against West Brom this season then and they are on a three-match winning streak against the Baggies in all competitions now. They have lost only one of their last six games against them with a W3 D1 L1 record so that is a positive that they can take from that. Also, the Saints are up and well up at that, from previous FA Cup clashes. The Saints are 4-1 ahead with the drawn matches between them in the FA Cup. This will be the first clash in the famous competition between them since 1979 when the two played out a 1-1 draw at the Hawthorns before the Saints won the replay 2-1 back on home soil.
Southampton have struggled this season as well, but they have produced better form since early January though. In the FA Cup, they opened with a 1-0 win out at Fulham before taking out fellow Premier Leagues side Watford in the fourth round. The Saints have rallied to a W2 D1 record in their last three road games and they are unbeaten in four out on the road now (W2 D2). They have scored in four of their last five away games as well, so that could be an indicator that they could sneak this. Southampton to win by a one-goal margin at Paddy Power again at the Hawthorns is at 10/3 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 11th, 2018 at 5:42 p.m.). Their recent win over the Baggies should have given them good confidence to go and pull something out of the bag in this one, even it is just in getting a replay to deal with West Brom back on home soil. Overall this season Southampton holds a W3 D5 L5 record out on the road, but they have been much better on their travels recently.
Who will win – West Brom v Southampton FA Cup Predictions
The draw may crop up in this one just because it was a tight duel in the Premier League recently between these two at the Hawthorns. West Brom have to be far more focused on their league situation than this and the Saints are yet to prove that they can consistently churn out victories.
