Watford News and Form
The Hornets have drawn their last three league games. There was a 0-0 draw for them out at home against Bournemouth on the weekend. So at least they have steadied the ship defensively with only one goal conceded in their last three league outings. But they still are not producing anywhere near enough going forward.
Watford have netted one goal in their last five league games only. Their record at Vicarage Road is D3 L2 and they have drawn each of their last three home games, the last two being 0-0 draws against Sheffield United and then Bournemouth. The Hornets have scored only three times at home this season while they have conceded at an average of 1.6 per home game.
Each of Watford’s last four games have ended under 2.5 goals. It is worth noting that each of the three draws that they have earned at home this season have been against sides who are currently sitting ninth or higher in the table. Watford have earned a clean sheet in two of their five home fixtures this season. They need something big. But along with being the lowest scorers in the division, they have the third-worst defensive record.
Watford vs Chelsea Head to Head
Chelsea won both league meetings last season
Watford have won one for their last six against the Blues
Chelsea have scored at least two goals in each of their last six against Watford
Each of the last six league meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
Chelsea News and Form
Momentum is such an important thing in football and Chelsea have plenty of it. They are on a four-match winning streak after a 4-2 win at Turf Moor against Burnley last weekend. Christian Pulisic netted a hatrack in the game for the Blues. Chelsea are now on a four-match winning streak on their travels as well in the EPL. They have scored at least three goals in each of those four successes as well.
They look dynamic going forward and they have scored at an average of 3.2 goals per road fixture. Still, they can’t be trusted at the back though, and they have conceded at an average of 2.2 goals per road game. All of Chelsea’s away games in the top flight this season have made it over 3.5 goals. This may struggle to get there because of Watford’s lack of goal-scoring output.
Four of Chelsea’s six league wins this season have been by at least a two-goal margin, and the Blues have been leading at the break in three of their five away games (D1 L1). They have scored two-thirds of their away goals before the half time break. The Blues have opened the scoring in 8 of 10 league games this season, so they have been consistently quick starters in games. Only Leicester and Man City have scored more league goals than Chelsa this season.
Watford vs Chelsea Tips & Odds
Who will win – Watford vs Chelsea Predictions
Chelsea should be able to cut loose in this game and pick up three points. Watford have been a little more competitive lately, but once the Blues make the breakthrough, it’s probably not going to take much for the heads of the Hornets to drop. Away win.
