Watford News and Form
The Hornets have been carrying some good form with them lately. Although at first glance they have lost three of their last six (W3) that has to be taken into context. Each of those three defeats were away against some of the top sides in the EPL, namely Liverpool, Man City and Man Utd. So with that in mind and looking back further at a W6 L3 record they have, the Hornets are in good shape. They have scored in each of their last five games in all competitions, but they haven’t taken a clean sheet in any of their last seven.
It has been a fairly comfortable ride for Watford in the FA Cup this season. They opened with back to back 2-0 away wins at Woking and then Newcastle. That set up a fifth-round trip to Championship side QPR. Watford handled that tricky away game with a 1-0 win. That set them up for their first home game in the competition this season, where they hosted Crystal Palace. Watford finished the job with a 2-1 win, that goal against being the only one that have conceded in this season’s tournament. Watford have scored exactly two goals in three of their four FA Cup games. The last time the Hornets made the FA Cup final was in 1984, losing to Everton.
Watford v Wolves Head to Head
Watford took a 2-0 win out at Wolves earlier this season in the EPL
Watford have lost one of their last five against Wolves (W2 D2)
The one previous FA Cup meeting was in 2008 with Wolves winning 4-1
Both teams have scored in five of the last seven meetings
Wolves News and Form
Wolves haven’t been to the FA Cup Final since 1960 when they beat Blackburn. This has been a truly wonderful season by Wolves. They are pushing for a place in Europe next season after coming up from the Championship. Like Watford, they have some strong form with just the two defeats in their last fourteen games across all competitions. In midweek they had to fit in an extra Premier League game, which saw them take a 2-1 home success over Manchester United.
In the quarterfinals of this season’s FA Cup Wolves beat Manchester United at home by a 2-1 scoreline as well. That isn’t heir only upset in this season’s campaign either. In the third round, they played host to Liverpool and took down the Reds at Molineux by the same scoreline. They followed that up in needing a home replay win over Shrewsbury in the fourth round, before knocking out Championship side Bristol City in a tricky away game. Four of their five FA Cup games this season have gone over 2.5 goals.
