Watford v Brighton Premier League Preview, 10th August 3.00pm
The Hornets were pretty happy and stable with Javi Gracia at the helm last season, which would have probably surprised a few people. They will be looking for at least more of the same. As for Brighton, they just about avoided the drop. Read our Watford v Brighton betting tips for more.

Watford News and Form
The Hornets had a strong start to last season They won their opening four games of the season, three of which were at home, one of them over Spurs. They ended up with a W8 D3 L8 record for the campaign at Vicarage Road. Their form did drop away towards the end of the season though. They lost six of their last nine games, home and away.
Watford only took the one point from their final three home games of the season. So they tailed off pretty badly. They did enjoy themselves on home soil against teams who finished in the bottom half of the table. They lost just one of their home fixtures against bottom-half of the table opposition (W5 D3 L1) including a 2-0 success over Brighton.
The Hornets averaged 1.4 goals per home game last term. Vicarage Road saw a fair amount of goal action, with 68% of Watford’s home fixtures going over 2.5 goals. Watford failed to keep a clean sheet in any of their final six home games of the season (none in their last twelve home and away combined). Strangely the Hornets were losing at halftime in 8 of their 19 home games.
Watford v Brighton Head to Head
The Hornets earned four points against Brighton last season
The Seagulls have won just one of their last nine against Watford
Watford are unbeaten in their last four home games against Brighton (W2 D2)
Both teams have scored in just one of the last seven meetings
Brighton News and Form
The Seagulls only finished two points clear of the drop zone, fourth from bottom. It was such a tough season and their survival was helped greatly by the lack of form from the bottom three. Brighton didn’t win any of their last nine league fixtures, losing six of those. Away from home Brighton produced a W3 D4 L12 record last term.
The Seagulls managed less than a goal per game on average in their away fixtures, while they conceded at an average of 1.7 per game. In total, they managed to take a clean sheet in just 11% of their road games. All three of the away wins which they did put on the board were by a one-goal margin only.
Of their twelve away losses, half of those were by a margin of at least two goals. Brighton conceded the first goal in 13 of their 19 road fixtures the last term. It is Graham Potter, who was brought in last season to replace Chirs Hughton, who is still in charge. There could be another difficult season ahead. They have brought in defender Matt Clarke and record singing Adam Webster, while midfielder Leandro Trossard comes in from Genk.
Watford v Brighton Tips & Odds
Who will win – Watford v Brighton Predictions
Watford look as if they can enjoy themselves in their home opener. Brighton have some major work to do and while Potter is highly regarded there, it is questionable as to whether or not they are going to have the quality to do anything other than survive. They may not even survive this trip to Vicarage Road.
