Uruguay v Ecuador Copa América Preview, 16th June 11.00pm
Uruguay should be among the front runners to land the title at the Copa America 2019. They do look to have a fairly comfortable group stage ahead of them. They get to open their account against Ecuador who have failed to win any of their last four games, and who have suffered three defeats in eight. Read our Uruguay v Ecuador betting tips for more.

Uruguay News and Form
Uruguay are going to be relying on their old guard like Diego Godin, Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani for success at the Copa America 2019. They did go through a slump of friendly form at the back end of 2018, losing four straight games, all by a one-goal margin. It’s not really worth taking much from that though. They have won all three games in 2019 having thumped Uzbekistan, Thailand and Panama. Again, it’s hard to read much from that against weak opposition.
Uruguay are always organised and settled and will bring their physical presence to proceedings. Oscar Tabarez is still in charge and they do have world-class strikers at the top in Cavani and Suarez. They are the joint 13/10 favourites in the First Goalscorer market* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 14th, 2019 at 4:08 p.m.). In the 2016 edition of the Copa America, Uruguay tanked in failing to even get out of the group stage. Until we get a good look at them it is hard to know what is coming from them in this tournament.
Uruguay v Ecuador Head to Head
In World Cup 2018 qualification the two traded home wins
Uruguay have won one of the last four against Ecuador
Both teams have scored in all but one of the last five meetings
Uruguay are W15 D10 L6 in the overall head to head against Ecuador
Ecuador News and Form
Ecuador have lost two of their last seven games. Which isn’t that bad of a return from recent form. They have, however, been struggling to put wins on the board. They have actually failed to pick up a victory in any of their four fixtures played in 2019 (D2 L2). Wins over Peru and Panama in friendlies from November 2018 are their only wins in their last eight games played. So they aren’t running in particularly hot form at the moment are Ecuador.
They have bagged themselves just the one clean sheet in their last five games which was in a 0-0 draw against Honduras earlier this year. If you look at their scoring record they have managed to miss the mark in three of their last seven games. Ecuador got out of their group at the last edition of the Copa America, and they edged out Brazil to do that as well. They had a really poor time of things in World Cup 2018 qualification, picking up just the six wins from their 18 games played.
Uruguay v Ecuador Tips & Odds
Who will win – Uruguay v Ecuador Predictions
Ecuador may offer a little bit of stubborn opposition for Uruguay, but at the end of the day, you would be expecting the Uruguayans to collect a victory. It may not be a big, thrilling encounter but Uruguay to edge it looks the right fit.
