Tottenham v Liverpool Premier League, 22nd October 4.00pm
The Lilywhites will look to continue their good streak of winning form as they play host to Liverpool on the weekend. Will the goals be flying around in this one? Spurs haven’t had the easiest of time at Wembley this season and have been more prolific on the road than at home this term. Liverpool have been struggling with their overall form this season and have picked up just one win in their last five league games. The Reds are 12/5 underdogs at bet365 for the victory, with Spurs at 21/10 and the draw at 5/2
Tottenham v Liverpool Betting Tips
Spurs will have been very pleased with their draw at the Bernabeu against Real Madrid in the Champions league in midweek. That was a well earned point and they didn’t go there just to defend either. Spurs are now unbeaten in their last six Premier League games, winning four of those. They are on a three match winning streak at the moment in the top flight and are humming along. Their home form still only reads W1 D2 L1 but they got their first league win at Wembley last weekend when they took down Bournemouth with a 1-0 result. This will probably be a tight game between the two of them and there is a price of 6/5 on under 2.5 goals with bet365 which looks great value. Just 25% of Tottenham’s home games this season have gone over the 2.5 goal line and each of the last four league meetings between them have gone under. So there’s a trend there.
Last Six Premier League Head to Head
Liverpool 2 -0 Tottenham
Tottenham 1 – 1 Liverpool
Liverpool 1 – Tottenham
Tottenham 0 – 0 Liverpool
Liverpool 3 – 2 Tottenham
Tottenham 0 – 3 Liverpool
Out of the two sides, Tottenham are the ones in the better form and therefore a Tottenham to win to nil option at bet365 fetches a price of 10/3. Harry Kane is the 13/5 First Goalscorer favourite for the game while Christian Eriksen is always a good anytime goalscorer option at 11/4. This will really only be Tottenham’s second big test of the season against a side who finished in the top four last term with them. They lost at home against Chelsea in their opening home fixture of the season. But they could be catching Liverpool at the right time as the Reds are struggling to find their winning touch in the league. This would be a big three points for Spurs who start the weekend in third place, five points behind leaders Man City, while Liverpool are four points back of them. Spurs are winless in their last nine Premier League games against the Reds in a D3 L6 record.
Current League Form (most recent last)
With the title ambitions that they went into the season, Liverpool have dropped far too many points already. They have posted just a W3 D4 L1 record for the term and have collected only the one league win in their last five league games. The goals haven’t been flowing from them with only the five netted in their last five Premier League games. They did go out and hammer seven goals past Maribor in their midweek Champions League game so they could pick up some confidence from that. A lot has been made of their defensive issues, but they have taken three clean sheets this season in the top flight and conceded just one goal in two of their other games. Apart from shockers against Watford, Man City and Leicester, they haven’t been terrible. Both teams to score at bet365 is a price of 7/4.
Liverpool have Daniel Sturridge and Roberto Firmino as their shortest priced option in the anytime goalscorer market at 7/4. Mohamed Salah is their top scorer with four goals this season though and he can be backed at 15/8 to net. Away from home in the Premier League, this season Liverpool have posted a W1 D2 L1 record so far, averaging a 1.75 goals per game. They have conceded an average of 2.75 goals per away game. Last weekend they fended off Manchester United in a 0-0 draw at Anfield and despite being on top for the entire game and creating plenty of chances, they couldn’t find a way through. They will face a tough Spurs defence as well in this one. Liverpool are currently four points worse off than they were at this stage last season with five fewer goals on the board after eight games.
Who will win – Tottenham v Liverpool Predictions
Spurs to win: The Lilywhites have found the goals hard to come by on home soil but because of Liverpool’s form remaining shaky at the moment, it is still worth backing the home side to collect all the spoils in a game which goes under 2.5 goals. It is hard to resist Spurs at that price.
