South Africa Women v China Women Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 13th June 8.00pm

There was a loss for both of these in their opening games of the competition. So this will represent the best chance for both of these at getting something on the board. This is action from the group that contains Spain and Germany. Whoever wins could be on target to claim one of the best third-placed finishes. Read our South Africa Women v China Women betting tips for more.

Draw 3/1
South Africa Women 13/2
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 9:49 p.m.)

South Africa Women News and Form

South Africa, one of the big outsiders for the title in France, made a decent game of things in their opener against Spain. They actually took a first-half lead and were still ahead with twenty minutes to go. But then two penalty kicks went against them, which the Spaniards converted before Spain got a third just before the final whistle. So now South Africa have to pick themselves up from that 3-1 defeat.

But that is not going to be easy as they are not a team in any kind of form. They have lost five of their last six games (D1). The one draw in there was again Jamaica. To be fair, they met both the USA and Norway before the World Cup, which was tough opposition to put themselves against. South Africa played at the Cyprus Women’s Cup earlier this year and posted a D1 L3 record there from games against Finland, North Korea, the Czech Republic.

China Women News and Form

China suffered a 1-0 loss in their tournament opener against Germany. They were expected to come in for a heavier loss than that. But Germany were pretty flat in the game and didn’t tear the Chinese to pieces. But China deserves some credit for their performance in the fixture and it was an indication of how hard they can be to beat. The defeat against Germany was their fifth in a row.

But in that sequence, they only suffered one-goal margins against Denmark and China, and played out a draw with European champions the Netherlands. So they haven’t been walked over at all. They do look to be the tougher of the two teams who are going to be on show in this one. China are ranked 16th in the world at the moment with South Africa at 49th. Four years ago, China finished second behind Canada in their World Cup group.

South Africa Women v China Women Tips & Odds

China to win to nil at 11/10
Under 2.5 goals at 4/5

Who will win – South Africa Women v China Women Predictions

China should be able to get the win on the board in this one. They look the stronger of the two nations and they are not too likely to give too much away at the back. That is going to give them a great platform on which to build to potentially go and get the three points. China to win.

Nigeria Women v South Korea Women Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 12th June 2.00pm

Nigeria had a tough time of things in their opening fixture of the Women’s World Cup 2019. They were down and out of the game in the first half of their game against Norway. South Korea had a chastening introduction into the tournament as well as they were thumped heavily by hosts France. Read our Nigeria Women v South Korea Women betting tips for more.

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 9:49 p.m.)

Nigeria Women News and Form

There was a 3-0 defeat dished out to Nigeria against Norway in their opening World cup. This will represent their best chance of picking up any points in this group stage. The same can be said of South Korea as well of course. Nigeria are now W2 L4 in their last six fixtures, losing their last two. The two wins that they did record in that sequence happened against Slovakia and Thailand. That was part of their Cyprus Women’s Cup tournament back in March, losing the other two games at the event. In their last six games, Nigeria have earned just one clean sheet. They are the highest ranked of the CAF representatives taking part at the tournament.

South Korea Women News and Form

South Korea had a tough night in Paris against hosts France in the opening game of the tournament. They were just on the back foot from the very start of the affair and could barely get a decent kick of the ball. They ended up losing that fixture 4-0. That is a four-match winless streak of form that the South Korea team are on at the moment now, losing three of those. Back in the FFA Cup of Nation they did take clean sheets wins over Argentina and New Zealand, both of which are in this tournament. So that could at least give them believe that they can target a good three points in this one.

Nigeria Women v South Korea Women Tips & Odds

South Korea to win to nil at 5/2
Under 2.5 goals at 19/20
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 9:49 p.m.)

Who will win – Nigeria Women v South Korea Women Predictions

South Korea looks the better of the two sides here, despite their opening result. The fact that they got a couple of notable wins earlier this calendar year against stronger opposition in the Cyprus Cup does indicate that they could be the ones who are more likely to collect the victory. South Korea to win.

Australia Women v Brazil Women Prediction & Betting Tips, 13th June 2019

International Football Betting

Australia Women v Brazil Women Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 13th June 7.45pm

Australia were the first team to suffer an upset at the Women’s World Cup 2019 as they slipped to defeat against Italy in their opener. So now that puts huge pressure on them in what has suddenly exploded into being a highly competitive group. Can they make amends against Brazil who haven’t been in good form at all, but who opened with a very good win over Jamaica? Read our Australia Women v Brazil Women betting tips for more.

Australia Women v Brazil Women Betting Odds*

Australia 11/4
Draw 3/1
Brazil 4/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 6:40 p.m.)

Australia Women News and Form

Their opening defeat against Italy was a huge hammer blow for Australia who had been pegged as one of the tournament dark horses. Australia had opened the scoring as well through their young goal scoring superstar Sam Kerr but then just couldn’t hold on. Italy came back at them in the second half and scored the winner in the 95th minute. So that leaves Australia with a lot of work to do now to break into the top two.

This could be incredibly difficult to do if they were to suffer a defeat against Brazil in this one. The way the tournament is set up, the fourth best third-placed teams will also qualify for the round of 16. So there is still that route open to them and knowing that they have an easy game to round off with against Jamaica will keep their belief up.

The thing about Australia is that they do have great scoring power about them, but their defence does look slightly unreliable. Australia just hit a bit of bad form now at the wrong time, having lost three in a row. Prior to the start of the World Cup, they had faced the United States and the Netherlands in international friendlies and lost both of those heavily.

So the Matildas are going to have to dig really deep to come up with a response. They had been on a four-match winning streak prior to that, scoring 14 goals in those four fixtures. Australia have only failed to score in one of their last eight games now, scoring a least two goals in six of their last eight.

Brazil Women News and Form

Brazil were in some poor form heading to 2019 Women’s World Cup. They had lost seven games in a row since October last year and a fair chunk of those defeats were against some of the front runners to win this summer’s tournament. But they pulled things together on the day in their opening fixture of the tournament against Jamaica, securing a 3-0 victory. They actually looked pretty impressive and together in that game, but of course will face much stiffer challenges than what the Caribbean nation put up against them. Striker Christiane became the oldest scorer of the World Cup hat-trick as she got all three of Brazil’s goals against Jamaica.

They were struggling for goals leading up to the World Cup scoring a one-goal only across their three games ahead of the tournament. They were in competitive action earlier this year when they faced England, Japan and the United States at the SheBelievesCup, Brazil losing each of those games. Now the big question about them is whether or not they are going to be able to turn out a better performance against stronger team that is Australia. If they were to do so they would fully take control of this group. Brazil incidentally didn’t use striker Marta in their opening fixture.

Australia Women v Brazil Women Tips & Odds

Both teams to score at 4/7
Australia to win outright 11/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 6:40 p.m.)

Who will win – Australia Women v Brazil Women Predictions

It will be interesting to see if Australia can play to their potential in this one. A win against Jamaica proves nothing really that Brazil have turned the corner from their poor run of form. Australia to win this fixture still looks a decent proposition, especially with them being the more desperate of the two to find a winner.

France v Norway Prediction & Betting Tips, 12th June 2019

International Football Betting

France v Norway Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 12th June 8.00pm

Hosts France looked impressive on the opening night of the tournament as they collected a comfortable victory over South Korea. Will they be able to drive on to their second match success as they face up to Norway on Wednesday? Norway even without their star player Ada Hegerberg opened with a comfortable victory over Nigeria Women. Read our France v Norway betting tips for more.

France v Norway Betting Odds*

France 1/3
Draw 15/4
Norway 17/2
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 6:40 p.m.)

France News and Form

Right from the kick-off in their opening fixture against South Korea, France were on the front foot. Their fullbacks were pretty much playing as extra wingers throughout the entire fixture. France comfortably eased their way to a 4-0 success. It was a performance from which it is easy to see why they are the tournament front runners. Eugenie Le Sommer opened the scoring for them before captain and defender Wendie Renard weighed in with a couple. Another of their star players Amandine Henry completed the scoring. That victory continued some great form that France have been showing recently.

That is a six-match winning streak that the French are currently on and they have scored at least two goals in each of those successes. They have also only conceded two goals in a sequence of fixtures, earning four clean sheets in that run. In total France have scored 22 goals in their last six fixtures. This one against Norway though is likely to be a bit more challenging for them. The last time Norway and France met was back in a friendly fixture in 2017, which ended in a 1-1 draw. They are in brilliant form at the moment are France, will they simply keep their hot streak going?

Norway News and Form

Norway are without their 23-year-old superstar and Ballon d’Or winner Ada Hegerberg because of her refusal to play for her country since 2017 because of what she sees as unfair treatment to female players by the Norwegian Football Federation. So that is a big loss for Norway on such a big stage, but they opened their World Cup account with a very good 3-0 victory over Nigeria Women. That is four wins in their last five games played now by the Norwegians (L1). Still, they are not short of quality players still and they are the favourites to get out of this group alongside France.

There the key player is Nareb Mjelde who plays her football for Chelsea, while the goalscoring responsibilities are going to largely fall upon the shoulders of Lisa-Marie Karlseng Utland. Utland got their second goal of their opening success over Nigeria Women. The Norwegians scored all three of their goals in the first half of that fixture so were able to ease back and conserve some energy. Norway is one of the more tactically adaptable sides that you will see at the World Cup because they don’t just rely on playing one way. But in this one, they are coming upside who are just looking pretty formidable at the moment.

France v Norway Tips & Odds

Who will win – France v Norway Predictions

Both of these will face a much tougher challenge in this one than either of them received in their respective opening fixtures. Norway are not going to be a pushover but France are just looking so good at the moment that it has to be them who are backed to collect the win. It may be worth looking at both teams getting on the scoresheet though

Germany Women v Spain Women Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 12th June 5.00pm

This is a battle for top spot in Group B of the Women’s World Cup. Spain and Germany both opened their accounts with a win. That basically leaves this as a game to probably decide who is going to go on and take the group victory. Germany go as favourites to win this one. Germany Women News and Form

Germany weren’t overly convincing in their opening World Cup match. They were expected to put on something of a power show, but it didn’t emerge as they only collected a 1-0 win over China. Maybe they were just working their way into the tournament and pacing themselves. They will need to start cranking it up a bit soon. The win over China actually continued a trend of some low-key wins by Germany

That is W4 D1 in their last five games by the Germans and three of the four wins produced by them in that sequence were by one goal margin. As a positive, they have earned a clean sheet in three of their last five games. But if China had shown up with a clinical eye for finishing, Germany could have easily found themselves in trouble in their opening game. Can Germany turn out a better, more dynamic performance and take control of the group?

Spain Women News and Form

Spain came out and produced a 3-1 victory over outsiders South Africa in their opener. The Spaniards were rattled early on after conceding the first goal of the game in the 25th minute. They had to wait a long time to get a response on the board as well. That came in the 70th minute when star striker Jennifer Hermoso slotted home a penalty. She did the same thing thirteen minutes later as well to give the Spaniards the lead in the game.

The game was then settled in the 89th minute when substitute Lucia Garcia netted for their third. Spain went into the World Cup on the back of a three-match undefeated streak of form. They went W1 D2 in that and the two draws were against Canada and Japan, who are always very solid strong teams. So that isn’t bad form that Spain have been on recently. It is going to be really interesting to see if they can produce enough of a threat to Germany if their opponents are not on their toes.

Germany Women v Spain Women Tips & Odds

Germany to win by a one-goal margin at 13/5
Under 2.5 goals at 9/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 10th, 2019 at 6:40 p.m.)

Who will win – Germany Women v Spain Women Predictions

The Germans never really came to life in their opener, maybe they thought it was going to be a bit easier than anticipated. They are going to have to step it up in this one as Spain do have their threats. Still, the win for Germany Women has to be backed built probably nothing more than by a one-goal margin.

USA Women v Thailand Prediction & Betting Tips, 11th June 2019

USA Women v Thailand Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 11th June 8.00pm

The USA are the powerhouses of the Women’s game and they will begin their title defence with a relatively easy looking game. Thailand have a tough campaign ahead of them in Group F as they also have to do battle with Sweden for an automatic qualification place. Read our USA Women v Thailand betting tips for more.

USA Women v Thailand Betting Odds*

USA Women 1/33
Draw 14/1
Thailand Women 33/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 7th, 2019 at 10:44 p.m.)

USA Women News and Form

The USA will be looking to stamp their authority over another Women’s World Cup this summer. They are right up there alongside hosts France as being the ones to beat for the summer. The main threat to them in Group F is Sweden, but with two automatic qualification spots to the knockout stages on offer, it would be some major shock if the USA didn’t move ahead. Last year the USA won the CONCACAF Women’s Cup over Canada and they seem to be motoring along in a fine bit of form. They are on a six-match winning streak, taking five clean sheets in that sequence. The last four have been in international friendly fixtures.

At this year’s SheBelivesCup the USA were held to 2-2 draws by Japan and England before getting a win over Brazil. But they seem to be back in the groove at the moment and have their star power up front in Carli Lloyd and Alex Morgan. Interestingly they look a pretty young side in the middle of the park, perhaps the one weakness in their set up. Yes, the main European crop of teams have closed the gap on them, but will it be enough to stop the USA this summer? They have scored at least three goals in each of their last five games played.

Thailand News and Form

Thailand can’t really be looking forward to this opening fixture. But they will be relieved when it is out of the way. There is no form behind Thailand heading into the World Cup. Thailand have lost their last five games. They were in competitive action back in March as they took part in the Cyprus Women’s Cup alongside Mexico, Italy and Nigeria. Thailand lost all three of those games, but they did score against Mexico and Italy.

Since then they have had two World Cup warm-up fixtures, both heavy losses against France and Belgium. Thailand were in the 2015 Women’s World Cup where they suffered 4-0 defeat against both Germany and Norway, which sandwiched a 3-2 win that they took over the Ivory Coast. They may be looking forward to their group game against Chile which represents their best chance of getting points on the board.

USA Women v Thailand Tips & Odds

Who will win – USA Women v Thailand Predictions

This should be a walkover and a bit of a non-event at the end of the day. Thailand are nowhere near the quality of the USA and are likely to take a bit of a pounding. It has to be a win to the USA, it’s just the size of it that is in question. Around the 4-0 mark for them isn’t implausible at all.

New Zealand v Netherlands Women’s World Cup 2019 Preview, 11th June 2.00pm

The Netherlands are the reigning European champions so they have a bit of pressure on them to deliver something good in this tournament opener. * (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 6th, 2019 at 7:47 p.m.)

New Zealand News and Form

New Zealand have never had a taste of the knockout stages in the World Cup before. But they will likely be targeting a place as one of the best third-placed teams this time around. It is their opening opponents the Netherlands, along with Canada who are the teams who are expected to take the automatic qualification spots. New Zealand did give themselves a good lift in taking a 1-0 win over England as part of their warm-up matches at the start of the month.

They are W4 D3 in their last seven games. They took part at the Cup of Nations back in March and opened with a loss against Australia, beat Argentina and then lost against South Korea. At the end of the day, it is going to be hard for the Football Ferns to make a big impact in front of goal. Their stronger players definitely look as if they are all from the defensive department really. If they could grab a point off either the Netherlands or Canada, while beating Cameroon, they could have a chance of reaching those knockouts.

Netherlands News and Form

The pressure of success can be a tough thing to deal with. The Netherlands sprung a huge surprise two summers ago in winning the European Championships. That was totally out of nowhere, but it was some star showings from Lieke Martens and Vivivanne Miedema which helped carry them to success. Those are both World Class players and Miedema is a pretty decent option in the top goalscorer department for the tournaments and potentially to be in the mix for the player of the tournament.

The thing is, after their Euro success, there have been a few struggles since. They needed a playoff against Switzerland to make it to the World Cup this summer. That was after at telling away defeat in Norway and a home draw against Ireland. They only went D1 L2 at the Algarve Cup this year, losing to Spain and Poland there before beating China on a penalty shootout. They have looked a bit more settled since their with three straight friendly wins, the most notable one of those was a 3-0 access over Australia. They have a talented young squad, it’s now about handling the pressure.

Canada 1/6
Draw 11/2

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 6th, 2019 at 6:32 p.m.)

Canada News and Form

Canada are never a team that you can totally count out of contention at a major tournament. They are always solid and well organised. They actually are in really good shape at the moment as they are undefeated in 2019. Canada are W5 D1 in their last six. They should more than comfortably get out of this group which also contains New Zealand and reigning European champions the Netherlands. Just last year they were in competitive tournament action, finishing runners up to the USA in the CONCACAF Women’s Championships.

So Christine Sinclair. 181 goals to her name from 281 international caps. Not a bad record then. She is still the heartbeat of the Canadian team. This will be her fourth World Cup and she had found the back of the net in each of her previous three tournaments. Four years ago Canada crashed out of the group stage, Sinclair getting one of two goals that they scored across their three group games. Canada performed well just back in April to take a win over England in a friendly by a 1-0 scoreline. That is the only goal that they have conceded in their last seven games.

Cameroon News and Form

Cameroon are one of the big outsiders for success at the 2019 Women’s World Cup. The only two teams in the entire competition who have a lower ranking than they do are South Africa and Jamaica. However, they weren’t given much of a chance of getting out of their group four years ago, but guess what, they did. They banked wins over Ecuador and Switzerland to make their way to the round of sixteen. They may well be out of their depth this time around.

They had a new head coach come in January. They have played just two games since the end of November last year. One of those was a 4-0 loss at the hands of Spain before beating club side Levante by that same scoreline in their final warm-up match ahead of the tournament. The Indomitable Lionesses have clearly held their own against sides in their own confederation, but they have fallen short when it comes to taking on stronger sides from across the globe.

There really should be no problems here for Canada in getting maximum points on the board. Cameroon don’t look to be anywhere near the quality that the Canucks are. Expect Canada to ease their way to a comfortable win and it will likely be to nil as well. Will Sinclair be amongst the goal?

Australia Women News and Form

Australia had put together a run of four straight victories earlier this year which put them in good stead ahead of the World Cup. They won all three of their games at the Cup of Nations, beating New Zealand, South Korea and Argentina. They did have a more difficult and testing time just ahead of the start of the tournament as they lost back-to-back friendly fixtures against reigning world champions USA and reigning European champions the Netherlands. So overall that leaves Australia with a W4 L3 record in their last seven games. In those two defeats ahead of the World Cup against the USA and the Netherlands, Australia conceded eight goals in total.

But the thing about Australia is that they have great scoring power themselves. Youngster Sam Kerr is one of the leading strikers in the world and if they are able to create chances for her she is going to put them away. Australia have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven games. The one failure to do so came in their 3-0 reverse against the Netherlands in their last warmup match ahead of the World Cup. Australia also have Mary Fowler who is 16, may become the youngest ever player to appear at a World Cup. Australia should be competitive in this group which also contains Brazil.

Italy Women News and Form

Italy are nation on the up in the women’s game. It has been 20 years since they last played in the tournament. They have had a really good year as a sign of their progress, remaining undefeated through the calendar year. They also had an easy time in qualifying for the World Cup, powering their way to a win in seven of their first eight qualification matches. The Italians all have not managed to keep a clean sheet in any of their last five fixtures. Overall they have won seven of their last nine fixtures.

Solidly are making good progress and they could be a real threat to Brazil’s qualification hopes in this competitive group. Italy are leaning on a fairly youthful midfield for their World Cup campaign but again that is a hint towards their future. They do have at their disposal Barbara Bonansea who is a winger that can set the entire tournament alight from either flank. While the midfield is on the younger side they have plenty of experience leading the line for them including 29-year-old Cristiana Girelli.

France are one of the powerhouses in the game and they are seen as the only ones who can genuinely stand up to the USA, who are the reigning champions. France have a star-studded team starting with captain Wendie Renard who is the backbone on their defence. With Amandine Henry and Eugenie Le Sommer among their hugely talented squad, they should be able to break new ground in this tournament.

They have yet to get past the quarterfinals of any major tournament, but on home soil, they look a bit of a banker to win their group and build from there. France have won their last five matches played this year. They scored at least two goals in each. They actually totalled 18 goals in those five games, conceding just the two. They have star power all over the place including forward Valerie Gauvin who could be one of the young stars of the tournament.

South Korea aren’t exactly rocking along in brilliant form that suggests an upset is going to happen. They have gone W2 D1 L4 in their last seven matches and are winless in three (D1 L2). Interestingly four years ago they were one of the surprise packages who made it past the group stage.

They then met France in the round of sixteen and were dumped out. It’s hard to gauge teams like this on the world stage, but if you look at the Asian Cup, they have took third place only in each of the last three editions, meaning that there are stronger nations from the AFC showing up France. South Korea only qualified in a playoff spot against Philippines.

Who will win – France v South Korea Predictions

This should be a walk in the park for the host nation and they should be able to collect the win to nil. South Korea are one of the weaker teams at the tournament and on such a big night, may fall to some heavy pressure. It’s unlikely the hosts are going to suffer any stage fright.
