Leeds are on a three-match winning streak in the league after a 3-0 success out at Reading last weekend. That was their third clean sheet in a row as well. So it is going really well for them at the moment. This is a tough game for them against third-placed Sheffield United. Leeds are on a three-match winning streak at Elland Road in the Championship. Overall this season Leeds are W12 D3 L3 on home soil in the second tier. So that has been a very good return. Their scoring has gone well at an average of 1.8 goals per home game.
Leeds have conceded at under a goal per game at home this season. In total, they have earned a clean sheet in 44% of games at Elland Road. Both teams have scored in 50% of games there. In their last home game, they produced a stunning 4-0 home win over West Brom. Leeds have scored 62% of their home goals in the second half of matches. Just two sides in the division have a better home record than Leeds.
Leeds earned a 1-0 away win at Sheffield United earlier this season
The Blades were on a three-match winning streak over the Whites before that
Leeds have won one of their last four at home against United
The Blades have won five of the previous nine previous Championship meetings
The Blades are bang in form in their own promotion push as well. They have taken back to back 2-0 wins over Bradford and Rotherham in the division. They are currently undefeated in their last nine games, home and away in the division. Away from home, they are on a four-match undefeated streak, part of an overall W8 D5 L5 road record this season. They have had their struggles away against the stronger sides though it is worth noting. They are W1 D3 L4 in their eight away games against sides currently in the top half of the table.
Sheffield United have scored an average of 1.5 goals per away game this season while they have taken a clean sheet in 33% of their away games. The Blades have drawn three for their last four on the road and have taken just the one victory in their last five away from Bramall Lane (D1 L1). Four of their five away defeats suffered this season have been by a one-goal margin. They have a great half time away record of W7 D9 L2. 62% of the away goals they have conceded have been in the second half of matches. They currently boast the second-best defensive record in the division.
Big games like this often fail to get going really and therefore the most likely outcome is the draw. It most certainly is a game that neither are going to want to lose and caution may win out at the end of the day. Draw.

The Blades earned a solid 2-0 home win over Rotherham on the weekend to move them on to four wins in their last five games (D1). Sheffield United are now undefeated in their last eight played in the second tier and have lost just one of their last fourteen played. They have some pretty strong form going at Bramall Lane at the moment with a seven-match winning streak going there in the league.
They haven’t conceded in any of their last six on home soil in the league eight. Home away they have taken six clean sheets in their last seven. The Blades have averaged 1.8 goals per home game this season and in total have conceded at an average of 0.72 per home fixture. The Blades are currently on an eight-match scoring streak at home. They have yet to be trailing at the halftime break in a home game this season (W7 D11). The Blades have conceded 77% of their home goals in the second half of matches.
Sheffield United took a 3-2 win at Brentford in November
The Blades are unbeaten in four against Brentford
United are unbeaten in six at home against the Bees
Both teams have scored in just two of the last six meetings at Bramall Lane
Brentford haven’t been a goal-shy side this season so it will be interesting to see what they can come up with at Bramall Lane. To be fair through their prolific scoring has shown up mostly on home soil. The Bees average 1.2 goals per away game this season and less than half of their road games have gone over 2.5 goals. Of the goals that they have scored away from home, 70% of them have been in the second half of matches.
Brentford have earned only the one clean sheet away from home this season in the Championship. Both teams have scored in 71% of Brentford’s away games. Brentford have been losing at the halftime break in 9 of their 17 away games. They are without a clean sheet in any of their last four on the road in the second tier. Brentford are the joint fifth-highest scorers in this season’s Championship. Only four sides have worse away records than they do though. They did take a great win at Middlesbrough on the weekend though.
The Blades have been in spectacular form recently and there should be three points heading their way from this fixture. The Bees have been far better at home than on the road and Sheffield United’s decline could well shut them out. Home win to nil.

It is Steel City derby number two for the season and while is a big battle of local pride, for Sheffield United it is a derby of high importance. Sheffield United 21/20
Sheffield Wednesday 12/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 1st, 2019 at 11:35 p.m.)
The Owls are ticking over in some good strong form at the moment. They are undefeated in their last seven league games, winning four of them. They have won their last two and both of those wins were a by a two-goal margin as well. The Owls have played eight games this season at home against teams currently in the top half of the table. From that, they have just a W1 D4 L3 record so they haven’t converted against the stronger teams.
The Owls have taken a W7 D7 L3 record at home this season. They are undefeated in their last eight home league fixtures. They have taken a clean sheet in 29% of their home games this season. They have earned five in their last seven, home and away. Nine of their last twelve league outings have gone under 2.5 goals. Of the goals which they have conceded at home this season, 70% of them have been in the second half of matches. The Owls have opened the scoring in 12 of 17 home games.
The last two league meetings have ended in a 0-0 draw
The Blades won their last visit to Hillsborough 4-2
Sheffield United are W2 D4 L1 in their last seven against the Owls
Both teams have scored in just one of the last four
Sheffield United are on a three-match winning streak in the top flight. They have come through a couple of big tests lately as well. In that sequence of winning form they have taken 1-0 wins over West Brom and Middlesbrough, two of the current top five along with them. The Blades are W8 D4 L5 on their travels this season in the league and they are undefeated in their last three on the road. The Blades have suffered only the one defeat in their last nine away from home in the second tier.
As a nod towards their defence too, they have taken a clean sheet in each of their last three games and in four of their last five outings. The Blades have scored in each of their last six league fixtures. 62% of their away goals have been conceded in the second half of matches. Middlesbrough are the only side in the division who have a better home record than Sheffield United have. Interestingly they have just a poor W1 D2 L4 record in seven games on the road against sides currently 14th and higher.
This has a draw written all over it really. The last two meetings have swung that way and this Steel City derby sees two sides who are in decent form going up against each other. They would probably both be happy enough with a draw at the end of the day.

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on February 21st, 2019 at 3:27 p.m.)
West Brom have won back-to-back League games and they are currently undefeated in four (W3 D1). However, while they are running in some pretty hot form out on the road, their form at the hawthorns does leave a little bit to be desired. Albion have not won any of their last four on home soil (D3 L1) and have taken just one win in their last seven League fixtures there. So the title challenge seems to be existing on their red-hot away form. But still, West Brom have suffered only the one defeat in their last nine League home games.
The Baggies have drawn five of their last seven League home games which points to their defensive problems. West Brom have only managed a clean sheet in 4% of home games this season. There are goal-scoring output has been fine as they averaged 2.3 goals per home game. 50% of their fixtures at the Hawthorns have ended up over 3.5 goals.
Both teams have scored in 88% of West Brom’s home games. West Brom have scored in each and every home game played this season, while overall home and away combined they are on a 17 match scoring streak in the championship. West Brom have scored 70% of their home goals this season in the first half of matches.
West Brom claimed a 2-1 win at Sheff Utd earlier this season
The Baggies are unbeaten in four against the Blades (W2 D2)
Each of the last three meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
The Blades are W1 D2 L2 in five previous Championship meetings
This will be a big test of Sheffield United’s character again. There are currently on a five-match undefeated streak of form and they have faced tough games recently against Norwich and Middlesbrough. But they came through those tests unscathed. Overall this season Shepherd United have away form of W7 D4 L5. Sheffield United’s current form is pretty much the reverse of that which West Brom have. Sheffield United are steaming along at home, but their away form isn’t quite as hot. The Blades have won only one of their last four away from home (D3 L1).
They have drawn their last two which was at Norwich and then Aston Villa. 62% of Sheffield United away games in the championship have ended up over 2.5 goals. The Blades have averaged 1.7 goals per away game, which has been a good return. Sheffield United have not managed a clean sheet in any of their last three away games and they have conceded at least two in each of their last two away fixtures. While Sheffield United can’t match West Brom in the goalscoring Department, they do have a much better defensive record.only two sides have conceded fewer championship goals this season than the Blades have.
This is a huge game for both of them and we can see it being just a little bit cautious from both. Neither will want to walk away from this empty-handed. It looks all about balanced with West Brom being a better away side and Sheffield United being a better home side, the reverse of what both need in this game. Draw.

The Blades did themselves a tremendous favour in their promotion push with a 1-0 home win over Middlesbrough in midweek. That moved them onto a four-match undefeated streak of form in the division, and they have lost only one of their last nine played. Sheffield United have won six of their last nine league games and they are running in some red-hot form on home soil. United are on a six-match winning streak now at Bramall Lane after their success over Middlesbrough.
Each of United’s last four home wins have been with a clean sheet as well. They have conceded just 13 goals in their 16 home fixtures in the Championship. Sheffield United’s overall home form this season reads W10 D3 L3. They have won all three of their home games played this season against sides currently 18th lower in the table. In total, Sheffield United have earned a clean sheet in 44% of their home fixtures. The Blades have scored 63% of home goals in the second period of fixtures. There are currently on a six-match scoring streak at Bramall Lane in the league.
Sheffield United were 2-0 winners at Reading in December
The Blades are on a three-match winning streak over the Royals
Reading have won none of their last eight league games against the Blades
United have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven league fixtures against the Royals
The Royals took a 2-1 home victory over Blackburn in midweek, snapping a three-match sequence of drawn games that they were on. So they now are unbeaten in four and have lost just one of their last six in the Championship. The Royals have only managed one away league victory all season (D8 L7) and that way success happened all the way back in mid-September at Preston. It means they are without a win in 12 league away games.
They have had their problems in front of goal as they have returned only the 13 goals from their 16 away games. Only 38% of their away fixtures have ended over 2.5 goals. In their last five away games, Reading have returned just two goals in total. That was a big three points that Reading collected against Blackburn as it lifted them out of the relegation zone at the expense of Rotherham. Can they build on it? Reading have been at 0-0 at halftime in exactly half of their away games.
Reading look short of goals and that should give the Blades a pretty decent shot at three points and we’ll predict that they get it with a clean sheet as well.

The Blades earned a point in a crazy 3-3 draw at Aston Villa on the weekend. That left them in third place, three points behind second-placed Leeds. Sheffield United have won five of their last eight league games, but have only taken one in their last four (D2 L1). Overall this season on home soil the Blades have a W9 D3 L3 record in the league. Two of their three home defeats have been against other current top-four sides. The Blades have some strong form going on home soil though at the moment.
They are on a four-match winning streak on home soil at the moment, each to their last three have been with a clean sheet as well. They have earned a clean sheet in 40% of their home fixtures. They have averaged only 0.87 goals against them this season. 77% of their goals conceded at Bramall Lane have been in the second period of matches. The Blades have netted in each of their last five home games and have not been losing at the halftime break in any home fixture.
Middlesbrough won 3-0 at home against the Blades earlier this season
Sheffield United have lost one of their last nine home games against Boro
Both teams have scored in just two of the last nine meetings
Middlesbrough had to settle for a point at home against Leeds on the weekend ina 1-1 draw. They have produced a bit of away form, having won three of their last four away from the Riverside (D1). Overall this season they are at W7 D6 L2 on the road in the Championship. In their last away game, they took a very good three points out at West Brom. Boro have scored in each of their last seven on the road. They are, however, the lowest scoring side in the top fifteen in the league.
Boro have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last five games home and away in the league. They are without a clean sheet in three on the road. They have scored a total of 20 goals on their travels this season and 14 of them have been in the second half of fixtures. Middlesbrough currently boast the best defensive record in the division. Only two sides (Norwich and Leeds) have a better away record than Boro do this season. Three points out of this would be massive for them.
Sheffield United can make a big statement here. Their defence hasn’t been at its best, but Boro are a low scoring side. The Blades can get over the finish line with a huge three points for themselves.

The Villains have lost one of their last seven league games, but they have been struggling to pick up wins at the same time. The are W2 D4 L2 in their last eight league fixtures. Last weekend they played out a 0-0 draw against the relegation-threatened Reading. Aston Villa have produced a W6 D7 L2 home record this season and they did take a win over Ipswich in their last home fixture. Villa are unbeaten in three on home soil in the Championship (W1 D2).
Villa have scored at an average of over two goals per home game this season, and 60% of their games at Villa Park have made it over 3.5 goals. There have been just the three clean sheets at home from them. Villa have hit the back of the net in all of their league home games this season. Their half time record is great at W7 D7 L1 at Villa Park. They have conceded two-thirds of their home goals in the second period of fixtures. Only the bottom two of Rotherham and Ipswich have worse league defensive records than Villa.
Sheffield United ran out comfortable 4-1 winners over Villa earlier this season
Villa have won just one of their last four against the Blades in all competitions (D1 L2)
Both teams have scored in four of the last five in all competitions
There was a 2-2 draw in last season’s corresponding fixture
The Blades have continued in some good form with only the one loss in their last eight league outings (W5 D2). They start the weekend up in third place in the league and as this is a Friday night fixture, a win will see them move top of the pile on goal difference over Norwich. The Blades have averaged 1.6 goals on their travels this season, with 60% of their road fixtures going over 2.5 goals. Sheffield United have taken a clean sheet in 27% of their away games.
The Blades have taken only the one win in their last four away from Bramall Lane though (D2 L1). Just twice all season have Sheffield United been losing at the halftime break in a league game. On both occasions, they were away from home. They have conceded the opening goal in nine of their fifteen away fixtures this season though. Only two sidehave a better defensive record this season in the Championship than Sheffield United. Both they and Villa have each scored 50 league goals.
This could be a great fixture. Sheffield United have a chance to go top on Friday and with that in mind, they may have an extra pep in their step. There are vulnerabilities in Villa’s defence that the Blades can cut through. Away win.

Norwich got back to winning ways last weekend by getting a 3-1 home success over Birmingham. That snapped a run of four winless matches they were on (D3 L1). Heading into the weekend Norwich re aone point of the lead. Norwich’s home record this season is W9 D1 L4 so it has been strong stuff from them at Carrow Road. Norwich have scored 72% of their home goals this season in the second half of matches. The Canaries have averaged over two goals per home game this season and 50% of their home games have made it over 3.5 goals.
Norwich have taken a win to nil in 29% of their home league fixtures this season. Actually looking at the bigger picture 10 of the 15 league victories that Norwich have recorded the season have all been by a one-goal margin only. Norwich have scored in each of their last eight home games but they have been struggling at the back as they have not taken a clean sheet in any of their last six on home turf. Just three times this season at home have Norwich been leading at the halftime break in fixtures. Norwich have scored at least two goals in each of their last six home league games.
Sheffield United took a 2-1 victory over Norwich when they met back in August.
That is back-to-back wins (by the same scoreline) that the Blades have taken over the Canaries.
Norwich have won five of their last six home games against Sheffield United (L1)
Both teams have scored in just four of their last nine meetings
This could be quite important game for Shepherd United in terms of making up ground on the top two. They will move level on 53 points with Norwich if they get the win. Last weekend United lost 1-0 at Swansea which snapped a good run of four straight Championship wins that they had recorded. Will they be able to pick themselves up from that? The loss against Swansea also snapped a five-match unbeaten streak of form that they were on away from home in the league(W3 D2). Overall this season Shefford United have scored 22 away goals, conceding 16.
In 29% of their away games, the Blades have earned a clean sheet and only twice have they been losing at the halftime break in away games. Hanging over them is their away form against the better sides in the division. They have played four games against teams who are currently sat inside of the top nine this season. Sheffield United have lost each of those four away games and across them, the Blades only managed one goal in total. Overall this season Sheffield United have posted a W7 D2 L5 record on their travels.
Norwich are the ones with the most appeal in this one to get what is likely to be only a one-goal margin victory on the board. Sheffield United just haven’t quite delivered the goods when it comes to their bigger away games this season. Norwich home form is impressive and the Canaries can sneak the three points.

This a good draw for Sheffield United. At least it should turn out to be. They have won their last three games played, scoring exactly three goals in each of those three games as well. So it has been a good strong run from them over the Festive period to continue their promotion push in the Championship. They are always a tough side to beat at Bramall Lane and the Blades have lost just two their last thirteen played there.
They have won back to back games there going into this one and they have scored at least three goals in each of their last three wins there. On paper at least they should be able to handle themselves in this one on home soil against non-league opponents. Last season Sheffield United made a good run to the fifth round proper.
Barnet are one of two non-league sides left in the competition. The other one is Woking who are a division beneath them in the English tier. This has been a really positive run from the Bees who were relegated from League Two last season. They opened their FA Cup campaign this season by winning a replay away from home against Bristol Rovers.
They then took out Stockport in the second round. Barnet won their last away game which was against Dagenham & Redbridge in the National League. They are W4 L4 in their last eight away games. So it’s a bit hit and miss and they are facing a really tough opponent here. Barnet will have done a tremendous job if they could possibly get this tie back to the Hive Stadium for a replay.
This is a comfortable tie for the Blades, at least it should be. They are good enough and have the resources on the bench if they need them to get through this challenge. Sheffield United to win to nil at even money* (betting odds taken from bet365 on January 3rd, 2019 at 8:25 pm).
