It is the final weekend of La Liga and therefore the last chance for Real Madrid to put in a half decent performance. Real Madrid have lost two of their last three league games. Real Betis haven’t been in the greatest of form though, a win last weekend snapping a long winless streak for them.

What changes are going to come at the Bernabeu over the summer? There is certainly plenty needed. Real Madrid lost 3-1 at Real Sociedad last weekend, leaving them at W1 L2 in their last three league games. They have won just one of their last four played now. It has been really dodgy, uninspiring stuff from them, although boss Zinedine Zidane has just been shuffling his starting eleven, having a look at players with a bit of planning towards next season.
Real Madrid are W13 D1 L4 on home soil this season in La Liga and they are in form at the Bernabeu. They have won their last five league games there, so it’s really only their away form which had taken recently. Real Madrid have netted at least two goals in each of their last five home games in the top flight as well. This season, Los Merengues have taken a clean sheet in 56% of their home fixtures and 8 of their 13 home successes have been by a margin of at least two goals.
Madrid earned a 2-1 win at Betis earlier this season
Real Madrid have won four of the last five league meetings (L1)
Real Betis took a 1-0 win in this corresponding fixture last season
Four of the last five meetings have made it over 2.5 goals
Real Betis bagged a win over Huesca last weekend. That snapped a five-match undefeated streak of form that they had been on (D1 L4). Their overall away record for the season is W5 D3 L10 and they have had a poor return from their recent top flight travels. Betis are currently on a four-match losing streak away from home in La Liga, going winless in five. Over the course of the entire season, they have averaged under a goal per road game.
Three of the five wins that they have taken this season away from home have been against sides currently in the bottom five. But then there was their huge 4-3 upset at Barcelona which no-one saw coming. Of their ten road losses for the season, seven of them have been by a margin of exactly one goal. Real Betis have not managed to take a clean sheet in any of their last ten league games and in none of their last five on the road. Real Betis have conceded 76% of their away goals in the second period of fixtures.

There is nothing at stake for either of these sides, and neither defence is great. Therefore backing both teams to score in this meaningless game is still worth a punt. Real Madrid do have the home form that suggests that they can collect maximum points.

Real Madrid suffered another disappointing result last weekend and right now the end of the season can’t come quickly enough for them. Real Madrid 7/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on May 2nd, 2019 at 7:34 p.m.)
There was a another disappointing result for real Madrid last weekend, as they lost 1-0 at relegation-threatened Rayo Vallecano. That is just a W1 D2 L1 record now that Madrid have taken in their last four league games. They have failed to hit the back of the net in their last two now. But their maladies have been away from home and they do actually have a bit of home league form behind them at the moment. Los Merengues are on a four-match winning streak on home soil, scoring at least two goals in each of those four success.
This is their penultimate home fixture of the season. In total Real Madrid have earned a clean sheet in 59% of home games this season, while they have scored at an average of 1.7 goals per home game. Just 41% of league fixtures at the Bernabeu this season have gone over 2.5 goals. Their overall home record is W12 D1 L4 this season and of those twelve wins, eight have been by a margin of at least two goals. There has been a trend with their scoring, as 72% of their home goals have been scored in the second period of fixtures. Madrid have opened the scoring 11 of their home games.
Each of the last two meetings have ended in a 2-2 draw
Real Madrid are winless in three against Villarreal (D2 L1)
Real Madrid lost this corresponding fixture last season 1-0
Villarreal have lost one of their last four trips to Real Madrid in the league (W2 D1)
Villarreal have done well lately to pull themselves clear of relegation concerns. They are not mathematically safe though but have a five-point cushion with three games to play. So they are likely to stay up. Their current form is good at W3 D1 in their last four played and each of the wins in that sequence by a one-goal margin. Two of those three were away from home too. That moved their away record for the season on to W5 D5 L7 and they have averaged exactly a goal per road game this season.
They have been a thorn in Real Madrid’s side recently, so it will be interesting to see if they can keep them at bay again. Villarreal have actually taken a clean sheet in 47% of their away games this season. The negative for them is that they have failed to score in any of their four away games this season against top six sides (D1 L3). Villarreal have been level at the half time break in 10 of their away games. Home and away combined, they have netted in each of their last ten league games, and in each of their last five on the road. They have shipped 67% of their away goals in the second period of fixtures.
Villarreal can be a stubborn side and given the problems that Real Madrid have had lately, are likely to keep this tight. They have a bit of head to head form going at the Los Merengues and the double chance on the visitors isn’t a bad option for this one.

Real Madrid have a lot of planning and rebuilding to do in the summer. They were held to a 0-0 draw in midweek by neighbours Getafe, dropping their first ever La Liga points against them. Real Madrid are likely going to end up in third place in the league. Rayo Vallecano have only the very faintest of chances of staying up. Read our Rayo Vallecano v Real Madrid betting tips for more.
Real Madrid 4/9
Rayo Vallecano 7/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on April 26th, 2019 at 11:11 p.m.)
Rayo Vallecano are bottom of the league but they are not mathematically relegated just yet. Given their lack of form, that is still likely to happen though. They do have a bit of home form going though with a W1 D2 record in their last three home fixtures, and the win in that sequence was over top-six side Valencia. That pushed their home form to W4 D6 L7 for the season. They have, however, lost all four of their home games played this term against current top five sides. Rayo Vallecano did hit the back of the net in three of those four games though.
In total, they have averaged 1.35 goals per home game this season, with 59% of their home fixtures going over 2.5 goals. Both teams have scored in 71% of their home fixtures. Rayo Vallecano have taken just the one win in their last seven home league fixtures now and have only managed a clean sheet in 18% of home games. Of their thirteen home defeats this season, eight of them have been by a one-goal margin. Rayo Vallecano started the weekend of action eight points away from safety with twelve to play for. It’s a very small window of opportunity for them. Tough games like this are not going to help them out.
Real Madrid earned a 1-0 home win over Rayo Vallecano earlier this season
Real Madrid are on a 14 match winning streak over Rayo Vallecano
Rayo Vallecano have only ever won three games against Madrid
Five of the last seven meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
Real Madrid were frustrated by neighbours Getafe in a 0-0 draw in midweek. To be fair Getafe are up in the top four, pushing for a Champions League place next season. In their last five league games, Real Madrid are W2 D2 L1 now and they have slumped out of form on their travels. They have failed to win any of their last three league away games now (D2 L1). Their overall away record for the season is W8 D4 L5 and there have already been signs that Zinedine Zidane is looking towards next season in terms of selection.
They are probably going to be taking on a very different look next term, with a big war chest of transfer funds available. Real Madrid have averaged 1.76 goals away from home this season. Interestingly each of their last eight league goals, home and away have been scored by Karim Benzema. No-one else is helping out at all. They have been a defensive mess for most of the season, conceding an average of 1.6 per road game. 71% of their away games have gone over 2.5 goals and Real Madrid have earned a clean sheet in just 12% of road fixtures. There has just been nothing spectacular from them and started the weekend six points adrift of second-placed Atletico.
It’s a hard game to read with Real Madrid not in great away form and Rayo Vallecano fighting for survival. The safest option looks to be a narrow away win for Los Merengues given the current standing of the two sides in the table.

Getafe are having a brilliant season in the Spanish top-flight has they will go into the midweek action holding down fourth place. Real Madrid 4/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on April 22nd, 2019 at 8:02 p.m.)
Getafe earned a very good 3-0 home win against Sevilla on the weekend and they will be hoping for more of the same in midweek action. They have won their last two home games in the league and have collected victory in six of their last seven top-flight home fixtures (L1). Their overall home form for the season reads W10 D1 L5 and it is that which has put them in this lofty position. However, they have lost their three home games played against the others currently in the top five this season. Their last two home wins have both been to nil.
This season Getafe have scored an average of 1.5 goals per home game while their defence has been magnificent. They have conceded just 11 home goals which is an average of 0.7 per game against. Less than half of their home games have made it over 2.5 goals this season. In total Getafe have claimed a clean sheet in 50% of home fixtures. They have produced 67% of their home goals in the second period of fixtures so far this season. They have opened the scoring in exactly half of their home games and they will go into this game with the fourth best home record currently in the entire division this season. Can they grabbed themselves and absolutely huge three points?
Real Madrid earned a 2-0 home win over Getafe earlier this season
Madrid are on a ten-match winning streak over Getafe
Getafe have only failed to score in one of their last six against Real Madrid
Getafe are on a four-match losing streak at home against Los Merengues
Real Madrid took a comfortable home win over Athletic Bilbao now on the weekend with Karim Benzema netting a hat-trick. But still, in their last four league games, Real Madrid are W2 D1 L1 and it is a two-match winless streak of form that they are on away from home at the moment. There were held to a 1-1 draw by Leganes in their last away fixture which followed defeat at Valencia. Overall this season the away record of Real Madrid stands at W8 D3 L5. It is a lack of clean sheets which has been hurting them the most this season. Row Madrid have taken a clean sheet in just 6% of away games.
They have totalled 30 goals on their travels which is an average of 1.9 per road game. They have conceded an average of 1.7 goals per game on their travels. 75% of their away games have made it over 2.5 goals with both teams having scored in 75% of Real Madrid’s fixtures. Of their eight away wins this season five of them have been by a margin of at least two goals. Real Madrid have scored in each of their last nine road games, but they have no clean sheet in eight. Remarkably for a club of their stature, they have opened the scoring in just six of their 16 away games this season. They are second highest scorers in the league at the moment.
Real Madrid are not that reliable on the road and there is a good chance for at least a point from this for Getafe. This may be a close game and backing the home side in a double chance looks a solid proposition.

Leganes picked up a 1-1 draw away at Alaves last weekend, their third game without a defeat in the league. Leganes are in pretty strong shape on home soil, losing just one of their last thirteen home fixtures. Overall this season on home soil they have picked up an excellent W7 D6 L2 record. In their home games against the current top-six, they are W1 D4. The one victory in those games was a 2-1 success over Barcelona.
Leganes have scored 18 goals at home this season which is an average of 1.2 per game. They have been tight defensively as they have conceded at under a goal per game on average. Just 27% of their home games have gone above 2.5 goals. In total Leganes have earned a clean sheet in 40% of their home fixtures. They have taken a clean sheet in three of their last five home league fixtures. Six of their seven home wins this term have been by a one-goal margin.
Real Madrid took a 4-1 home win over Leganes earlier this season in La Liga
The two traded home wins in the Copa del Rey this season as well
Real Madrid have won their two previous La Liga games at Leganes
Both teams have scored in four of the last six meetings
So this could be tricky road test for Real Madrid. The Whites lost their last game away from home, a 2-1 defeat against Valencia. That left them with a W8 D2 L5 record this season on their travels in the top flight. They were on a five-match winning streak away from home before that slip against Valencia. In total Real Madrid have averaged just under two goals per away game this term, with 80% of their road fixtures going over 2.5 goals.
They have not been tight at the back which is why the percentage of high scoring games is up. Real Madrid have picked up just one clean sheet away from home this season. That was in a tight 1-0 win at bottom side Huesca. Both teams have scored in 73% of Real Madrid’s away games. Home and away combined they have taken one clean sheet in their last nine league games. They have scored in each of their last eight away from home but have opened the scoring in just 7 of their 15 away games.
Leganes may well be able to hold their own in this one. Real Madrid don’t look a convincing side at all, certainly not up to their usual levels. Leganes are a strong home side and can easily grab a point out of this with an organised display. Draw.

Valencia continue their push towards a top-six finish after taking an important three points out at Sevilla on the weekend. Real Madrid 10/11

Valencia got a great 1-0 away win at Sevilla on the weekend, a vital game in the race for a top six finish. At home, this season Valencia have returned only the four wins, but they have only lost once at the Mestalla in the league (W4 D10 L1). They are a rock-solid side in defence having conceded just the 8 goals in their 15 home fixtures, which is fantastic. Their big focus is on defence though as they are not prolific in front of goal, averaging just a shade over a goal per game on home soil.
Valencia are undefeated in their last nine league home games, not conceding in any of their last five. Home and away they are undefeated in their last eleven games and they are just are so hard to actually get the better of. The half time home record of Valencia is a W4 D10 L1, the exact same record as what their overall home form is. Valencia have earned a clean sheet in 47% of their home games. They have scored 69% of their home goals in the second half of fixtures at home this season. Anything out of this would be a huge bonus for them.
Valencia lost 2-0 at the Bernabeu earlier this season
Real Madrid are undefeated in their last four against Valencia
Valencia have lost just one of their last four at home against Real Madrid
Both teams have scored in all but one of the last twelve meetings
Real Madrid were expected to coast at home to bottom side Huesca on the weekend. It didn’t quite pan out that way. Real Madrid had to come from behind in the game early on. Boss Zinidane Zidane started with third keeper Luca, his son. They only got their three points thanks to a goal from Karim Benzema a minute from time. That did move them onto a three-match winning streak in the league, having scored at least two goals in each of those. It is worth noting that each of those wins were against sides who are currently sat inside of the bottom five.
They will get a much stiffer challenge here. Real Madrid’s away record is at W8 D2 L4 for the season. They are in good shape on the road. They have put together a five-match winning streak on their travels, going undefeated in their last seven (W6 D1). It is worth a look at their away from against the stronger sides though. They are W1 D1 L3 in their away games against sides currently in the top eight. Real Madrid have managed only one clean sheet this season away from home and none in their last six.
Valencia are tough to beat and could get under the skin of a Real Madrid side who haven’t proven themselves against anyone other than weaker teams recently. Valencia have the defensive mindset to hold the visitors off and a Double Chance on the home side has appeal.

Real Madrid 1/9
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 29th, 2019 at 6:43 p.m.)
Real Madrid recovered from their slump of two defeats in three, by having won their last two league games. In their last league game, they took a 2-0 home win over Celta Vigo, snapping a run of back to back home losses in the league against Girona and then Barcelona. Real Madrid have home form of W9 D1 L4 this season in the Spanish top flight. In that sequence of matches, they have scored 21 goals at an average of 1.5 per game. Their defence has been good in general, having conceded just 8 in 14 at the Bernabeu.
Just 29% of Real Madrid’s home games this season have gone over 2.5 goals. They have banked a clean sheet in 64% of their home fixtures. Real Madrid haven’t been in a draw at home in any of their last ten. Of their home goals scored, 67% of them have been after the half time break. Of their 14 second-half goals, 8 of them have been in the final fifteen minutes of matches. Real Madrid have opened the scoring in all but four of their home games this term but have only been leading at half time in six.
Real Madrid won 1-0 at Huesca in December
That was their first ever league meeting
Huesca look to be heading straight back down to the second tier at the end of the season. They head into the weekend bottom of the league and eight points from safety. They have lost their last two played, going down against Getafe and Alaves. Huesca have netted in each of their last four games played in the league, but they have gone without a clean sheet in any of their last five, home and away. In total, Huesca have managed 13 goals on their travels this season.
Their away record is at just W2 D3 L9 this season. They have lost all six of their games away from home played against the current top-seven. Huesca conceded at least two goals in each of those but did score in four of them. This season away from home Huesca have conceded at an average of almost two per game, having managed a clean sheet in just 14% of games. They have won only one of their last twelve on the road. 62% of their away goals have been scored in the first half of matches and six of their nine road defeats have been by a one-goal margin.
We don’t see Real Madrid slipping up in the game at all. They are naturally going to be more organised under Zidane, especially at the back. It is worth having a flutter on Real Madrid to win to nil on home soil. The visitors aren’t likely going to land much of a glove on them.

Real Madrid 3/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 3rd, 2019 at 7:34 p.m.)
With their 2-1 success in the first leg, Real Madrid produced their seventh straight win over Ajax. They are pretty well placed here now. Real Madrid, who are the reigning champions, have won their last nine two-legged knockout ties in the tournament. Real Madrid are now W8 D1 L4 in their previous game against Ajax. Real Madrid have fired off nine goals in their last three home games against Ajax, conceding just the one. They are gunning for their ninth straight quarterfinals appearance in the tournament.
Their overall record at this stage of the tournament is W9 L6, winning their last eight ties on the bounce. Real Madrid holds a W6 L3 record in two-legged ties against Dutch sides. The Spaniards are on a five-match home winning streak against Dutch opposition. Overall Real Madrid have suffered just six losses in their last 50 European matches, home and away. Strangely though they have lost two of their last five.
Ajax are now left with no win in their last seven UEFA Champions League knockout stage matches (D2 L5). This is their second appearance only in the round of sixteen, having lost against Inter Milan in the 2005/06 round of sixteen. Ajax are on a three-match losing streak away from home in Champions League knockout stage matches. The last time they faced Spanish opposition was in the 2016/17 Europa League group stage, a 2-2 draw at Celta Vigo ending a six-match losing streak in Spain.
Their record though in two-legged knockout stage matches against Spanish sides is a hugely positive W7 D2, their last success in such a tie was back in 1999/2000 though. Ajax have a W2 L12 record in two-legged ties in European action after having lost the first leg at home. Ajax are the only side left in the competition who came through the qualifiers to reach the group stage.
Real Madrid should get through this tie but Ajax gave them a good workout in the first leg. The Dutch side may be able to get a goal on the board at least, but it should still be a home win for the Spaniards. Real Madrid to win & both teams to score.

Real Madrid head into the weekend trailing league leaders Barcelona by nine points in the table. A defeat in this one will pretty much wipe out their slim title hopes. Real Madrid have won six of their last seven league outings, last weekend taking a 2-1 away win at Levante. Their overall home form is W8 D1 L3 this season. They were totally schooled in midweek in the Copa del Rey by Barcelona though which has to be a big worry for them.
Gareth Bale has avoided a ban for a celebration gesture recently which could have gotten him into hot water. Real Madrid were upset in their last league home game as they were beaten 2-1 by Girona. Real Madrid have only averaged 1.5 goals per home fixture this season in La Liga, which is nothing special by their standards. Only 33% of their league home games have gone over 2.5 goals. Madrid have shipped only the seven goals in their twelve home fixtures with a clean sheet in 67% of games. They are W2 L2 in their last four home games in the Spanish top flight.
Barcelona have won back to back games at Real Madrid 3-0
Barcelona are unbeaten in five games in all competitions against Madrid
Five of the last seven meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
Real Madrid have won one of their last five at home against Barca
Barcelona are on an undefeated streak of thirteen matches in the top flight. Away from home specifically they are undefeated in nine. Barcelona have won five of their last six away games, the only exception in that sequence being a 0-0 at Atletico Bilbao in the middle of February. Barcelona have averaged over two goals per road game and they have only conceded the ten goals on their travels. They have two clean sheets in their last three on the road.
In total, they have taken a clean sheet in 42% of road games this season in La Liga. Barcelona have opened the scoring in seven of their twelve road games, while they have been leading at the half time break in five of them. They are the current top scorers in the league by a country mile pretty much. They have tallied 65 league goals, with Real Madrid having the next highest tally of 43. Barcelona boast the best away record in the top flight as well.
Barcelona will be full of confidence after their midweek win at the Bernabeu. Real Madrid really had no answer at all in the game. Because of that, we can only expect more of the same in the weekend’s El Clasico. Barcelona to win.

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on February 26th, 2019 at 4:38 p.m.)
Real Madrid’s form has been a lot better recently than it was over the first half of the season. They have won four of their last six games in all competitions (D1 L1). In the first leg of this semi-final tie, Madrid opened the scoring after just six minutes at the Nou Camp through Lucas Vazquez and it was a pretty even contest at the end of the day. Real Madrid started some of their regulars on the bench for that first leg it is worth noting.
Los Merengues have won eight of their last ten in all competitions now, but the one difficulty that they have had has been in taking clean sheets. They have just one in their last nine in all competitions. So that should open the door a bit for Barca. Real Madrid suffered a shock defeat in their game at the Bernabeu, a 2-1 league defeat against Girona. They have scored at least two goals in four of their last five five home fixtures.
Barcelona are W1 D1 in two games against Real Madrid this season
Real Madrid are winless in four against the Catalans
Five of the last seven meetings between them have gone over 2.5 goals
Both teams have scored in seven of the last nine
Real Madrid lost 3-0 at home in their last home game against Barca
Barcelona haven’t been in their hottest form as of late, in fact, the goals have dried up a bit for them. They had scored just two goals in four games in all competitions before they met Sevilla in the league on the weekend and produced a 4-2 success. Lionel Messi got a hattrick in that game and Luis Suarez managed to snap a five-match scoreless streak of form that he was on for them as well.
In the last round of the Copa del Rey, Barcelona had to come from behind after having lost the first leg of their tie at Levante. Barcelona are the four-time defending champions in the tournament. In their last six away games in all competitions, Barcelona are W2 D2 L2, a clear drop off in their usual standards. They have actually failed to score in three for their last five on the road. Built to their credit they have three clean sheets in their last four on the road in all competitions. It’s all to play for.
Real Madrid have a good chance in his one as Barcelona haven’t been at their best recently on their travels. El Clasico matches are tense and tight and anything can happen, but backing Real Madrid to get through the tie on home soil looks a good proposition.
