Kilmarnock v Rangers Betting Tips – Scottish Premiership, 4th August 1.30pm

Rangers will begin their latest quest to try and close the gap on their rivals Celtic. It was a second-place finish in the league that the Gers took last season, nine points behind Celtic. They are out on the road to start with, a tricky game against Killie who finished just one place behind Rangers last season in the standings. Read our predictions for Kilmarnock v Rangers.

Kilmarnock News and Form

Killie posted a W12 D2 L5 record on home soil last season. They did manage to avoid defeat against Rangers along the way, so they will have the belief that they can get something out of this fixture. Kilmarnock have already been rocked this season though. They were upset in the Europa League first qualifying round against Welsh side Connah’s Quay. Killie had taken a 2-1 away win in the first leg but crumbled under pressure, losing 2-0 back at McDiarmid Park.

What kind of a wake-up call would that have been for them? It was such a huge blow after working so hard to get their third-place finish in last season’s Premiership. Kilmarnock scored an average of 1.7 goals per home game last season, collecting a clean sheet in 37%. All five of the home defeats which they suffered were by a one-goal margin only. Seven of their twelve home wins were recorded by a margin of at least two goals.

Kilmarnock v Rangers Head to Head

Killie took back to back 2-1league home wins over Rangers last season
From seven meetings last season Kilmarnock went W2 D3 L2
Both teams scored in five of the seven meetings last season
Rangers are winless in their last three trips to McDiarmid Park (D1 L2)

Rangers News and Form

Rangers have been in European action as well. They thumped St Josephs 10-0 in the first qualifying round of the Europa League before going to battle against Progres Niedercorn. The overall record that Rangers took in last season’s Premiership was W23 D9 L6. There were just too many dropped points at crucial times by them to mount a serious threat to Celtic’s title dominance. Will they be able to press on and get closer this time around?

Five of the six losses that Rangers suffered in the top flight last season happened away from home. They finished the season with a W9 D5 L5 record on their travels. A huge positive for them was they scored an average of just under two goals per away game. They just couldn’t replicate their superb home defensive record though away from Ibrox. Their big summer signing has been defender Filip Helander from Bologna for over four million pounds.

Kilmarnock v Rangers Predictions

Rangers win: There is a temptation to consider Kilmarnock here because of how they handled themselves against Rangers last season. But their misfire against Connah’s Quay is still fresh in the mind. It may be a good time for Rangers to be heading there. Rangers to win & both teams to score.

Kilmarnock News and Form

Kilmarnock have taken back to back 1-0 wins in the league, knocking down Hearts and Hibernian. It has been such a good season from them and they have a bit of home form going as well. They have won three of their last four on home soil, the one exception in that run of games being a loss against Aberdeen. The overall home form of Kilmarnock this season is W11 D2 L5. Can they get on more positive that will guarantee them a place in Europe next season?

If the finish fourth, then they would make it to the Europa League qualifiers if Celtic win the Scottish FA Cup. Killie have averaged 1.7 goals per home fixture for the campaign but it is their defence which has been really impressive. They have conceded at under a goal per game, shipping just the 13 goals in their 18 home fixtures. There has been a clean sheet produced from them in 39% of their home games. Of the wins at Rugby Park that they have produced, seven of the eleven have been by a margin of at least two goals.

Kilmarnock v Rangers Head to Head

Rangers are W2 D3 L1 against Kilmarnock this season
Kilmarnock took 2-1 home league win over Rangers in January

Rangers News and Form

The Gers got themselves a great home win over Celtic last weekend, a 2-0 scoreline happening there for Steven Gerrard’s men. They have won their last two away games in the Premiership as well, scoring exactly three goals in wins over Hearts and Motherwell. That is part of their current six-match winning streak overall home and away in the league at the moment. This season Rangers have posted a W9 D5 L4 record on their top-flight travels.

Rangers have averaged two goals per away game with them conceding at an average of exactly a goal per game. 61% of Rangers’ away games have ended over 2.5 goals. They are W2 D1 L1 in their last four out on the road though. The Gers have scored in each of their last nine road games and they have been leading at halftime in 10 of their 18 road games. They will be finishing in second place regardless of whatever happens in this one.

These two are going to be sick of each other at the end of the season. There really hasn’t been much between the two sides at all, and given that Killie do have a bit of home form going over Rangers, it has to at least be worth backing them in a double chance.

Rangers News and Form

Rangers have put together a fine streak of form at the end of the season. They are now on a five-match winning streak in the top flight, having conceded just the one goal in that run of games. Their only loss in their last fourteen league fixtures happened at Celtic right at the end of March. Earlier this season when Rangers hosted their rivals in the league, they did get the better of them with a 1-0 success. Can they pull off a repeat result?

Rangers have won their last three on home soil and they are unbeaten in their last ten Premiership home games. Their overall home record for the season is W13 D4 L1 and they have averaged 2.4 goals per home game this season. Their defence has also been tremendous. They have taken a clean sheet in 61% of all home games played, having shipped just seven goals at Ibrox in the top flight. Of their thirteen homes win, ten of them have been by a one-goal margin. Rangers have opened the scoring in 15 of 18 home fixtures.

Rangers v Celtic Head to Head

Celtic are W2 L1 in their three league games against the Gers this season
Rangers earned a 1-0 home success at Ibrox earlier in the season
Both teams have scored in just two of the last eight meetings in all competitions
Four of the last five meetings have ended in a win for the home team

Celtic News and Form

Once again Celtic have won the league title. They have won their last two league games, not conceding in either of those. Actually Celtic are on a five-match stretch of clean sheets and in total, they have conceded just one goal in their last eight games. Considering that they have met Aberdeen twice and Rangers once in that sequence, says a lot about their strengths. Celtic have won six of their last seven away games and again the clean sheets have stacked up. They have not conceded in any of their last four road games. It’s been one goal against in their last seven on the road.

The overall away record of Celtic this season in the Premiership is W10 D4 L4 and they have averaged 1.7 goals per away game. They have conceded just the 11 goals on their travels, earning a clean sheet in 61% of their road fixtures. Just 39% of their away games have made it over 2.5 goals. Of the four defeats which they have suffered this season, three of them have been by a one-goal margin. Celtic are currently undefeated in their last sixteen league games now, home and away. Of the goals which they have conceded on their travels, 73% of them have been in the second half of games.

Celtic News and Form

Celtic’s form can’t be faulted at all. They are now W9 D1 in their last ten Premiership fixtures. The drawn game in that sequence happened in their last home game, a 0-0 draw against third-placed Aberdeen. Celtic are W14 D1 L0 at home this season in the top flight and in those games, they have averaged 2.7 goals per fixture. Celtic have only shipped 5 goals in their 15 home fixtures.

That is a clean sheet in 73% of home games from the Bhoys this season. Still, 60% of games at Celtic Park have made it over 2.5 goals. Celtic have won 67% of their home games to nil. Only three of their home success in the league have been by a one-goal margin. Celtic have also been winning at half time in 10 of their 15 games. The Bhoys have scored in all home fixtures this season.

Celtic v Rangers Head to Head

The two have traded 1-0 home wins in this season’s top flight
Both teams have scored in just one of the last seven meetings in all competitions
Rangers have won just one of their last 16 Old Firm derby matches
Celtic haven’t conceded in their last four home games against Rangers (W3 D1)

Rangers News and Form

Rangers haven’t been able to keep up the pace. They have drawn three of their last five played (W2) which has proven costly. So even though they are on a good eight-match undefeated streak of form at the moment, it’s not been enough to reel in their rivals. In their last four away games in the Premiership Rangers are at W3 D1 L1. They have scored a total of 13 in that sequence of fixtures.

Their real turning point happened in a 2-1 loss at Kilmarnock at the end of January on their return from the winter break. Going into the winter break they had just claimed a win over Celtic. Each of Rangers’ three away losses this season have been by a one-goal margin only. The Gers have been leading at the halftime break in 8 of their road games. They are currently on a four match undefeated streak on their travels. Rangers have scored 62% of their away goals in the first period of fixtures.

Celtic v Rangers Tips & Odds

Celtic should have the upper hand once again on home soil against their big rivals. This is likely going to be a low scoring encounter again. Celtic to win to nil looks a pretty solid proposition.

Rangers v Celtic Prediction & Betting Tips – 11th March 2018

Betting Advice

Rangers v Celtic Scottish Premiership, 11th March 12.00pm

The third Premiership Old Firm derby then of the season will be here on the weekend, and it has already been announced that these two will be meeting up in the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup as well. This is a battle between the top two in the Scottish Premiership and Rangers really need to bust out a win at Ibrox on Sunday to try and reel the leaders into just the three points, even though Celtic will still have a game in hand.

Rangers v Celtic Betting Odds*

Celtic 17/20, Draw 13/5, Rangers 3/1* (Betting Odds taken at 00:22 p.m. on February 20th, 2018)

Rangers News and Form

It has been an excellent season for Rangers who are currently running on a four-match winning streak in the top flight. They have been scoring freely as well and they have netted at least two goals in six of their last seven games played. At home, they are won three of their last four (L1) and each of the wins in that sequence were by a 2-0 scoreline. If that was to happen in this one it would make the title race interesting but at bet365 a Rangers 2-0 scoreline is out at 20/1 odds with the shortest option being the 1-1 draw at 11/2* (Betting Odds taken at 6:43 p.m. on February 20th, 2018). The Gers are W7 D2 L5 at home this season where they have averaged 1.6 goals per game and have conceded at just over a goal per games. Including this one, there are just four games of the season left before the split happens so this would be a huge move for Rangers if they get the three points. The Gers have scored in each of their last seven at home and both teams to score at Bet365 is at 3/4 odds.

Celtic News and Form

Celtic have only gone W1 D1 L1 in their last three league games now so they have been having a bit of a stutter. They have gone W3 L2 in their last three away games in the league and away from Celtic Park this season in the top flight, the Bhoys are W10 D2 L2. So there should be a window of opportunity for Rangers here. Celtic have scored at least two goals in three of their last four road games and over 2.5 goals at bet365 is at 19/20* (Betting Odds taken at 6:43 p.m. on February 20th, 2018). Celtic have no issues with their scoring rate at all of course and they have averaged 1.8 goals per away game so far. Defensively they have been great on the road as well, having conceded at well under a goal per game on average. Only two of the wins they have posted away from home this season have been by a one-goal margin, everything else has been bigger. 70% of the goals that they have conceded away from home have come in the second half of matches. Celtic have opened the scoring in all but four of their away games this season and their most frequent away result this term is a 2-0 scoreline in their favour, which has happened four times. They have earned a clean sheet in exactly half of their away games.

Rangers v Celtic Head to Head

This will be the second meeting this season between them at Ibrox, with Celtic winning 2-0 there back in September. When they met at Celtic Park in December there was a gritty 0-0 draw played out. Celtic are W6 D2 L0 in their last eight games against Rangers in all competitions so have a clear advantage in the head to head. Celtic have won their last two league visits to Ibrox as well.

Who will win – Rangers v Celtic Predictions

With Celtic just a little off pace at the moment it may be worth backing Rangers to pull out something big on the day and get the home win in the bag. It would certainly make things a little interesting before the pending split.

Aberdeen News and Form

This is a fixture which Aberdeen cannot allow to let slip through their fingers, or else they will lose touch with the top two. On the weekend Aberdeen collected a 2-1 victory at them on a four-match undefeated streak of form. Actually, Aberdeen have only suffered the one defeat in their last nine Premiership fixtures, and that was back on Boxing Day when they lost by a one-goal margin at home against Celtic. Aberdeen have been fairly consistent in front of goal having scored at least two goals now in eight of their last nine top-flight games.

Overall this season on home soil Aberdeen have returned figures of W7 D2 L3. In that sequence of games, they have averaged just a shade under two goals per game on average. Less than half of their home fixtures have made it over 2.5 goals. Aberdeen have earned a clean sheet in 42% of their home fixtures this season and have two in their last three on home soil. Six times this season on home soil have Aberdeen been winning at the halftime break. Of goals which they have conceded at home this term, 62% have been in the second period of fixtures. Rangers and Celtic are the only two sides who have scored more League goals than Aberdeen the season.

Aberdeen v Rangers Head to Head

Aberdeen have a W2 D1 record against Rangers this season
Each of the last five meetings have ended under 2.5 goals
Aberdeen are currently undefeated in four games in all competitions against Rangers W2 D2
Rangers are unbeaten in their last four League visits to Pittodrie (W2 D2)

Rangers News and Form

Rangers have secured back-to-back League wins (both with a clean sheet as well) after earning a big 4-0 victory at home against St Mirren on the weekend. That is seven unanswered goals that Rangers have produced in their last two fixtures. Four of the last five League wins Rangers have produced have been with a clean sheet. That includes their important 1-0 home win over Celtic in late December. Overall this season away from home Rangers have a W5 D4 L3 record.

Rangers have produced 1.6 goals per game on average on their travels, and they have been very tight at the back conceding at an average of a goal per game. Rangers have earned a clean sheet in exactly quarter of their away games. Just twice this season on their travels have Rangers been losing at the halftime break. Home and away combined they have scored in each of their last six Premiership games and each of their last three on the road have ended up over 2.5 goals. In their last five away games Rangers are at W-2 D2 L1.

Aberdeen v Rangers Tips & Odds

Under 2.5 goals at 4/5
Aberdeen double chance at 4/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on February 3rd, 2019 at 8:23 p.m.)

Who will win – Aberdeen v Rangers Predictions

Aberdeen will know the importance of not losing this game and so they have to be strong and focused on home soil. Rangers have been far from perfect on their travels and the Dons can at least get a point out of this fixture. Aberdeen double chance.

Rangers v Hibs Preview

The title race is still open and Rangers need points here to potentially open it up even more. They start the weekend in second place and leaders Celtic are taking on third-place Aberdeen on the same day. It’s all tight at the top. Rangers are W7 D1 L1 at home this season in the Premiership and have posted a W3 L1 record in their last league games at Ibrox.

It is natural that they will have one eye their big game against Celtic coming up on the weekend, they can’t afford take their eye off the ball here. Their home form reads pretty well, scoring 26 goals and conceding just the five. There has been a clean sheet for them in 44% of their league home games.

They have also been winning at the break in all but two of their nine games on home soil. So the numbers are stacking up well for them. A brace from Alfredo Morelos on the weekend saw them take a 2-1 win at St Johnstone. Hibs and Rangers actually met just back on December 19th and they played out a 0-0 draw.

Rangers haven’t taken a win in last three against Hibs in the league (D2 L1) and have picked up just the one victory in their last seven against them. So they will have their work cut out against Hibs. There has been a trend of high-scoring games between these two with nine of the last eleven going over 2.5 goals.

When they met last week at Easter Road there was nothing to split them. Can Rangers win this important game in the return at Ibrox? Hibs are down in seventh by they are on a five-match undefeated streak of form currently. In that sequence beat Celtic and took that draw against the Gers. Their away form this season reads W3 D2 L4.

Who will win – Rangers v Hibs Predictions

This is probably going to be a tight game. Hibs have a bit of form against the Gers and have shown their resilience in the league lately. But Rangers really have to come up with something here ahead of that clash switch Celtic. Rangers to win by a one-goal margin is at 13/5 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on December 23rd, 2018 at 10:54 p.m.).

Aberdeen v Rangers Prediction & Betting Tips – 5th August 2018

European Football Betting

Aberdeen v Rangers Scottish Premiership, 5th August 1.00pm

This is the big clash of the opening weekend of the new Scottish Premiership season. Aberdeen has already been in competitive action though as they slipped out of UEFA Europa League qualification against Burnley in midweek. Rangers too have been playing their way through the summer as they have progressed through to the third round of Europa League qualification. So neither will be going into the opening weekend of the season cold.

Aberdeen v Rangers Betting Odds*

Rangers 7/5
Aberdeen 19/10
Draw 9/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from August 3rd, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.)

Aberdeen News and Form

The Dons couldn’t make progress past the second qualifying round of the UEFA Europa League then as they lost out to Burnley, going down 4-1 on aggregate after extra time in the second leg at Turf Moor. The Dons finished second in the Scottish Premiership last season, nine points adrift of champions Celtic. Can they close the gap a little this term? The Dons couldn’t match either Celtic or Rangers last season in the goalscoring charts. It has been something of a quiet summer for them in the transfer market with Lewis Ferguson and Tomas Cerny coming in on free transfers with Chris Forrester coming in from Peterborough.

The biggest surprise of the summer was when Adam Rooney went off to sign for English non-league side Salford, leaving their goal output for the season in further jeopardy. To be fair to Aberdeen they played really well in patches against Burnley, particularly at Pittodrie and we can see this one going under 2.5 goals which are at a 7/10 odds price* (Betting Odds were taken from August 3rd, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.). The Dons posted a W11 D4 L4 record on home soil last season, three of those four defeats happening against fellow top-four finishers (Rangers once and Celtic twice). The big question here is whether or not they will have the goals to break down what appears to be a good Rangers defence?

Rangers News and Form

Rangers have battled their way through to the third qualifying round of the Europa League then under new boss Steven Gerrard. There has been a bit of a theme through with the Gers, in that they are shaping up very well at the back but they are not offering a lot of conviction going forward. They have averaged a goal per game in their four Europa League qualifiers so far, conceding just the one. So that is another hint that this is going to be a low scoring game and both teams not to score is at 10/11 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from August 3rd, 2018 at 1:00 p.m.).

Gerrard has clearly had a summer focus on organising Rangers, last season’s third-place finishers in the Premiership, at the back and is going to work his way forward trying to figure out where the goals are coming from. They shipped out a handful of players over the summer, while adding Jon Flanagan from Liverpool and Allan McGregor to their ranks, both decent free transfers. They have been smart with loan deals though to round out their squad with the likes of young forward Sadiq Umar coming in. The Gers have made a W2 D2 start to competitive life under Gerrard so far (Europa League) will they be able to avoid defeat at Pittodrie on the weekend?

Aberdeen v Rangers Head to Head

Last season produced a clear advantage for Rangers in the head to head with Aberdeen as they won three of the four meetings (D1). They have pretty strong overall form against the Dons going as they have a W5 D1 L1 record against Aberdeen in their last seven Premiership meetings. Rangers have posted a W2 D1 record in their last three visits to Pittodrie and four of the last five clashes there have gone over 2.5 goals.

Who will win – Aberdeen v Rangers Predictions

We are going to side with Rangers in this one because they have looked pretty well organised at the back so far in the summer. That’s clearly where new boss Gerrard has been focusing. But they lack a scoring threat overall and so it is worth looking at under 2.5 goals occurring as well.

Celtic v Rangers Scottish Premiership Preview, 29th April 12.00pm

It is a huge Old Firm derby coming up on Sunday and Celtic will win the title with a victory in the match at Celtic Park. So it could be a huge occasion for the Champions-elect against their oldest foes and it would probably make the title success that little bit sweeter. Can Rangers produce a performance to at least delay the inevitable and gain some revenge for their heavy Scottish Cup semi-final loss recently?

Celtic v Rangers Betting Odds*

Celtic 4/9, Draw 7/2, Rangers 11/2* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018)

Celtic News and Form

Celtic could have won the league title last weekend, but they suffered a defeat against Hibs. But that means they get to win it in epic fashion, at home in the Old Firm derby if they can pick up the win. The last time that the title was on the line in an Old Firm rival was in 1999 when Rangers came out on top to get the league crown but it was a game which was marred by crowd trouble at Celtic Park. Actually Celtic may only need to draw this one if Aberdeen fails to beat Hearts on Friday night. But regardless of that they will likely just want to go out and get a win on the board in this one. This is Celtic’s second game since the league split, the first being that surprise loss at Hibs last weekend. That ended an unbeaten streak of eight games that they were on (W6 D2).

During that eight-game run, Celtic conceded in just two of those fixtures so Celtic to win to nil at bet365 is at 6/4 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018). In six of their last nine games Celtic have scored at least two goals and during that run, there was their 4-0 win over Rangers in the FA Cup semi-final back on April 15th. There should be enough in this game to send it over 2.5 goals and Celtic are going to want to try and enjoy this day at home. Celtic are on a fourteen match undefeated streak of home form in all competitions (W11 D3) and have taken a clean sheet in each of their last six there. It is going to be a big ask for Rangers to roll into town on such a big day of action and prevent Celtic from getting their win.

Rangers News and Form

The two rivals have met four times this season already and Celtic took a W3 D1 record from those meetings. The one draw in that sequence though was at Celtic Park in a Premiership fixture back in December. Rangers haven’t been Celtic in the last thirteen attempts now and in the bet365 correct score market a Celtic 2-0 option is at 13/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018). Rangers may well be second in the Scottish Premiership but they are trailing their rivals by a long way. They did get a win on the board last weekend, beating Hearts 2-1, their first game since the split. They do have a scoring threat in Alfredo Morelos and Josh Windass but how much of a look in are they going to get?

This is a difficult situation in a derby game for Rangers away from home and with Celtic trying to get the title. Rangers have failed to find the back of the net in four of their last six games against Celtic now in all competitions. So both teams not to score at bet365 is at 4/5 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:24 p.m. on April 24th, 2018). Rangers haven’t been in top form lately either really, which started with a 2-3 defeat at Ibrox against Celtic back on March 11th. They are W2 D1 L3 in their last six games across all competitions, two of those three defeats coming in Old Firm derby clashes. Their away from isn’t all that bad though with a W6 D2 L1 record in their last nine away from Ibrox, the loss there being their FA Cup semi-final defeat. A win for Rangers would at least give them some revenge and some joy, but it would only delay the inevitable of Celtic winning the title.

Who will win – Celtic v Rangers Predictions

Celtic are probably going to make the most of this occasion and get the win on the board. Rangers have thrown a lot at them this season and have still come up short. Taking down the Bhoys in this big clash probably isn’t going to happen so back a home win to nil.
