Kilmarnock need to match whatever result that Aberdennon manage on the final day of action to book themselves a top three place. The importance of that will be qualification for the Europa League first qualifying round next season. Rangers have already booked that as they will finish second in the table. Kilmarnock have taken back to back 1-0 wins in the league, knocking down Hearts and Hibernian. It has been such a good season from them and they have a bit of home form going as well. They have won three of their last four on home soil, the one exception in that run of games being a loss against Aberdeen. The overall home form of Kilmarnock this season is W11 D2 L5. Can they get on more positive that will guarantee them a place in Europe next season?
If the finish fourth, then they would make it to the Europa League qualifiers if Celtic win the Scottish FA Cup. Killie have averaged 1.7 goals per home fixture for the campaign but it is their defence which has been really impressive. They have conceded at under a goal per game, shipping just the 13 goals in their 18 home fixtures. There has been a clean sheet produced from them in 39% of their home games. Of the wins at Rugby Park that they have produced, seven of the eleven have been by a margin of at least two goals.
This will be the seventh game between Rangers and Killie this season
Rangers are W2 D3 L1 against Kilmarnock this season
Kilmarnock took 2-1 home league win over Rangers in January
Rangers are winless in their last three league games at Rugby Park (D1 L2)
The Gers got themselves a great home win over Celtic last weekend, a 2-0 scoreline happening there for Steven Gerrard’s men. They have won their last two away games in the Premiership as well, scoring exactly three goals in wins over Hearts and Motherwell. That is part of their current six-match winning streak overall home and away in the league at the moment. This season Rangers have posted a W9 D5 L4 record on their top-flight travels.
Rangers have averaged two goals per away game with them conceding at an average of exactly a goal per game. 61% of Rangers’ away games have ended over 2.5 goals. They are W2 D1 L1 in their last four out on the road though. The Gers have scored in each of their last nine road games and they have been leading at halftime in 10 of their 18 road games. They will be finishing in second place regardless of whatever happens in this one.
These two are going to be sick of each other at the end of the season. There really hasn’t been much between the two sides at all, and given that Killie do have a bit of home form going over Rangers, it has to at least be worth backing them in a double chance.
