Austria trail group leaders Poland by three points and also have Slovenia head of them in the table. So they have some work to do and a W3 D1 L2 record has gotten them this far. Back in March this year Austria lost 4-2 in Israel, despite opening the scoring in the fixture. After failing to get a win in their first two qualifiers, Austria picked it up by winning three of their next four. Their last fixture saw them earn a good away point in Poland.
Austria’s defence has sharpened up with them having earned three clean sheets in their last four qualifiers. They have a good home record behind them in European Championship qualifiers as well. Austria are W6 D1 L1 in their last eight home qualifier matches. Each of the six wins in that sequence were with a clean sheet as well. As a betting trend for Austria v Israel, four of Austria’s last six European Championship home qualifiers they have won by a 1-0 scoreline.
Israel are W2 D1 in their last three European Championship qualifiers against Austria
Austria have won only one of their last six against Israel
Both teams have scored in all but one of the last seven meetings
Austria are W4 D4 L2 in the overall head to head with Israel
Three points would be massive for Israel in this one, while defeat would leave them a mountain too big to climb to reach next summer’s finals. Israel went undefeated in their first three qualifiers, but defeats against Poland and Slovenia combined with a poor draw against Macedonia set them back. A point in the long run probably isn’t going to be enough for Israel, but it would maintain their head to head tie-breaker advantage over the Austrians.
The problem for Israel is their lack of form away from home in European Championship qualifiers. They have only gone W1 D1 L4 in their last six such fixtures. Each of their last four away qualifiers have gone over 2.5 goals as has seven of their last eight, so that could be a big betting trend. The 4-2 win at home that they took over Austria was fantastic, with Eran Zahavi netting a hattrick. They need a very special away night here.
Austria should have the quality at home to collect three points. It doesn’t matter at this point how they come, they just need to get them. Israel are capable of proving themselves a stubborn opponent, but they aren’t great away from home as shown in their group stage thumping in Poland.

This is a top two clash in Group G of Euro 2020 qualification. Poland are leading the way with a two-point advantage over Israel. So this is an important game at the top which could either see Poland strengthen their position or Israel shake things up by winning. It should be a pretty interesting fixture nonetheless unless both just set their stall out not to lose. Read our Poland v Israel betting tips for more.

Poland are on a three-match winning streak at the moment. On Friday they edged a 1-0 win out in Macedonian in their third qualifier. That built on their two successes over Austria and Latvia in the group prior to that. Each of their last three wins in their current form have been with a clean sheet. This has been a pretty good response from Poland actually because they had a poor time of things in the Nations League, finishing bottom of their group behind Italy and Portugal.
They were on a run of six winless games (D3 L3) before the start of this European Championships qualification campaign. The surprising thing about this upturn in form is that Robert Lewandovski has gotten just one of Poland’s four goals in the group. It its Krysztof Piatken who is leading the way for them with two. Each of Poland’s last six games have ended under 2.5 goals, so it probably not worth expecting fireworks in this fixture.
Poland’s one previous game against Arsenal ended in a 3-2 win
That was an intentional friendly back in 2005
So Israel have made a positive start to their Euro 2020 qualification campaign, having taken seven points from their three games so far. They opened with a 1-1 draw at home against Slovenia before putting a wonderful 4-2 home success on the board of Austria. On Friday they made the trip to Latvia and put up a 3-0 victory. So that’s seven goals in two games from them. Actually, the recent scoring form of Israel is well worth noting actually.
They have scored at least two goals in six of their last seven games now. Remarkably seven of Israel’s eight goals so far in the Euro 2020 qualifying group has come from one man. That is Eran Zahavi who has scored back to back hat tricks. There will probably never be a better time than now to consider him in the anytime goalscorer market. Latvia have taken just the one clean sheet in their last three games, so this is going to be a really interesting fixture.
It has to be worth a look at this one being a decent game with both teams getting on the scoresheet. Israel are actually in pretty good form at the moment and even though they are away from home, could challenge. Stick at over 2.5 goals.
