Ireland vs Denmark Euro 2020 Qualifiers Preview, 18th November 7.45 pm

The window of opportunity for Ireland to reach Euro 2020 without having to deal with the stresses of the playoffs, is still open. To get there they have to win this home game. It doesn’t matter the score or margin, three points will send them through at the expense of Denmark. The Danes therefore only need to avoid defeat to hang in there. Read our Ireland vs Denmark betting tips for more.

Ireland vs Denmark Betting Odds*

Ireland 5/2
Draw 23/10
Denmark 11/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 15th, 2019 at 8:21 p.m.)

Ireland News and Form

It all boils down to this for the Irish who are sat on a W3 D3 L1 record. Their lone defeat in the group happened on a trip to Switzerland. The Irish start in third place in the group, three points behind Denmark and two behind Switzerland. Because of the Irish getting a draw in Denmark earlier in the campaign, three points in this one would see Irish move above the Danes on the head to head tiebreaker of points earned in the game between the two nations.

Ireland have struggled for goals in this campaign. They have only scored six of them and in no match have they managed to net more than one goal. Thankfully for them, their defence has been solid, conceding just four goals and earning four clean sheets in their seven games. The one consolidation for the Irish is that if things don’t work out, they are guaranteed a place in the playoffs. There may be a little payback on the minds of the Irish, as they lost 5-1 at home to Denmark in the second leg of their World Cup 2018 play-off tie.

The Irish have lost just one of their last nine games (competitive and friendly) and they warmed up for this one with a 3-1 home friendly win over New Zealand on Thursday. Ireland are undefeated in their last 13 European Championship home qualifiers, winning eight. They were on a five-match winning sequence in such fixtures before playing out a 1-1 draw against Switzerland in their last home qualifier in this group. Still, it is one goal conceded only in their last six such home games. In last year’s Nations League meeting the two games between Denmark and Ireland ended 0-0.

Ireland vs Denmark Head to Head

Each of the last three meetings have ended in a draw
Denmark are unbeaten in their last five against Ireland (W1 D4)
Both teams have scored in two of the last seven meetings
Ireland are W5 D8 L4 in the overall head to head

Denmark News and Form

Denmark only need a point and that is going to make them hard to beat on the night at the Aviva Stadium. It has been a very composed campaign by Denmark who are unbeaten in their seven games played in Group D. That is the size of the task ahead of Ireland on the night. The Danes have tallied 22 goals in their seven games as well, conceding only five. Out on the road in the group, they draw in Switzerland and Georgia, winning in Gibraltar.

Their failure to beat the Swiss and the Georgians should give Ireland hope. Denmark’s Christian Eriksen is the top scorer in the group with a tally of five goals. The Danes are undefeated in their last fourteen games (competitive and friendly) and they are on a five-match run of not conceding a goal. Denmark however, have won only one of their last six European Championship away qualifiers.

Ireland vs Denmark Tips & Odds

Who will win – Ireland vs Denmark Predictions

It is going to be a tense night of action. Do Ireland have enough firepower to take down a very strong Denmark team? That’s the biggest question mark hanging over this one. They at least look good enough for a draw. Ireland-Draw Double Chance.

Switzerland v Ireland Euro 2020 Qualifiers Preview, 15th October 7.45 pm

A huge game for Ireland who have to avoid defeat in this fixture to leave themselves in a good position to make a run at a top-two finish. That is because they are sitting four points ahead of the Swiss, but Switzerland have a game in hand over them. Can Ireland hang on and do their qualification hopes a massive favour? Switzerland v Ireland Betting Odds*

Switzerland 8/15
Draw 14/5
Ireland 6/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on October 13th, 2019 at 3:33 p.m.)

Switzerland News and Form

Group D has been a tight, cagey, low-scoring affair for the most part. Switzerland are sitting third in the group, four points out of the top two, so can’t afford to drop any points at home in this one against group leaders Ireland. They are going to have their work cut out for them to try and close the gap. On Saturday the Swiss had a major setback as they suffered a 1-0 loss in Denmark and it leaves them well out of form.

Switzerland have taken only one win in their last six games and that was a home success over Gibraltar. So they are struggling at the moment and have failed to score in three of their last four played. All of the pressure, therefore, is going to be on them in this one then as they need three points. As a positive for Switzerland is that they have scored at least three goals in each of their last three home games. Five of their last seven home games have gone over 2.5 goals.

Switzerland v Ireland Head to Head

There was a 1-1 draw in the first group meeting
Three of the last four meetings have been drawn
The last meeting in Switzerland ended in a 1-1 draw (2004)
Each of the last five meetings have gone under 2.5 goals

Ireland News and Form

This is a buckle-down and hang-on type of fixture for Ireland. The victory isn’t so important to them as a point out of this will leave them with a four-point advantage over Switzerland, despite having played a game more than the Swiss. So it would leave the Irish in a decent spot after a tough away game that this is. Ireland have averaged exactly one goal per game in qualification and played out a 0-0 draw in Georgia on the weekend.

That may well be seen as dropped points against a weaker side. But Ireland are lacking in goalscoring power. But their defence continues to stand strong, with the Irish having conceded only two goals in this qualification campaign. Ireland are now on a nine-match undefeated streak of form in matches and all but two of those nine have ended under 2.5 goals. Ireland are D4 L1 in their last five away games, earning a clean sheet in three of those.

Switzerland v Ireland Tips & Odds

Switzerland to win by a 1 goal margin at 9/4
Under 2.5 goals at 8/13
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on October 13th, 2019 at 3:33 p.m.)

Who will win – Switzerland v Ireland Predictions

Ireland are a tough side to beat and that’s all they need to be in this one really. However, even though Switzerland’s home form isn’t great, they do certainly have the potential for goals in them and may be able to break the resistance of the visitors. Home win.

Georgia v Ireland European Championship Qualifiers Preview, 12th October 2.00 pm

Ireland are in control of Group D and they will look to maintain their position at the top of the pile, which they will be guaranteed to do if they keep up their great record against Georgia. Georgia needs a win to try and keep their automatic qualification hopes alive. Read our Georgia v Ireland betting tips for more.

Georgia v Ireland Betting Odds*

Ireland 6/5
Draw 2/1
Georgia 14/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on October 9th, 2019 at 11:56 p.m.)

Georgia News and Form

Georgia have collected four points from their five qualifying games so far. That leaves them five points out of second place in the group and with probably too much to do to get in the picture. This is a competitive group with Ireland, Denmark and Switzerland battling it out for the top two spots. Georgia’s one win in their W1 D1 L3 record came in a 3-0 success against Gibraltar.

They have scored just one goal in their other four games, total and they took a 1-0 loss when they visited Dublin in March. Georgia did win their Nations League group but have been very poor since then. On home soil, they have taken a W3 D1 L1 record in their last five European Championship qualification matches. That’s not a bad return, but two of those three wins were against Gibraltar (the other Scotland). They did pick up a good 0-0 draw against Denmark in their last home qualifier in this campaign.

Georgia v Ireland Head to Head

Ireland took a 1-0 win in the first group meeting
Each of the last four meetings have gone under 2.5 goals
Ireland gold a W9 D1 L0 record against Georgia
The last meeting in Georgia ended in a 1-1 draw

Ireland News and Form

Ireland are unbeaten in their last eight games (competitive and friendly). So they have some momentum going, even if they still look short of real goalscoring quality. They are W3 D2 so far in this qualification group, the draws happening in their bigger games against Denmark and Switzerland. Low-scoring wins over Georgia and Gibraltar probably indicates that this isn’t going to be a high scoring fixture.

Ireland are two points clear at the top over Denmark, three ahead of Switzerland who have played a game less than they have. So they can’t take their foot off the gas. Ireland have only netted six goals in their five games, way less than the other two main challengers have produced in this group. But Ireland have the best defensive record with only two conceded. Ireland have only lost one of their last five European Championship away qualifiers (D2 L2), but really need to find the win in this one.

Georgia v Ireland Tips & Odds

Ireland 1-0 correct score at 9/2
Under 1.5 goals at 5/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on October 9th, 2019 at 11:56 p.m.)

Who will win – Georgia v Ireland Predictions

The head to head more than suggests that Ireland can go and get an important win in this one. This will probably be a very tight game as Georgia shut down Denmark in their last home game. But still, an Ireland 1-0 win appeals.

Ireland v Bulgaria International Friendly Preview, 10th September 7.45pm

Ireland will step back from the Euro 2020 qualifiers to get in a bit of intentional friendly action. The Irish dug out a draw against Switzerland in their qualification campaign on Friday. That keeps them in the hunt for a place at Euro 2020 next summer. Bulgaria were smashed by England at Wembley in qualification action on Saturday. Read our Ireland v Bulgaria betting tips for more.

Ireland 8/13
Draw 13/5
Bulgaria 19/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on August 29th, 2019 at 6:35 p.m.)

Ireland News and Form

The Irish were under considerable pressure in their 1-1 draw against Switzerland on Friday. David McGoldrick got their equaliser five minutes from time though, against a very good team. That is a seven-match undefeated streak of form that Ireland are currently on W3 D4 so they have been hard to knock over. Each of their last seven games, competitive and friendly, have all ended under 2.5 goals so there’s a big trend for this friendly. Ireland are undefeated in the friendly games now, drawing their last two. They have lost just one of their last five home friendly fixtures (W3 D1).

Ireland v Bulgaria Head to Head

All three previous meetings have ended in a draw
They were all 1-1 results as well
This will be the first meeting since the 2010 World Cup qualifiers

Bulgaria News and Form

Bulgaria had a rough time of things at Wembley against England on Saturday. To be fair they didn’t even look mildly interested in trying to get a result out of the game. That was to the point it looked more like a friendly than a competitive European Championship qualifier. Bulgaria have just two points from their five qualifiers. So needless to say they are not a team in form. They are winless in their last eight games now (D2 L4). They do have a bit of form going in friendly matches having won four of their last five played. They have won their last two road friendlies as well, one of those wins happening in Portugal.

Ireland v Bulgaria Tips & Odds

1-1 correct score at 6/1
Half time draw at 11/10

Who will win – Ireland v Bulgaria Predictions

Why not roll with the trend of 1-1 results happening again when these two come together for what will be just the fourth time. It’s not a game either are going to be particularly bothered about and it is likely to peter out pretty quickly. Draw.

Ireland v Switzerland Euro 2020 Qualifiers Preview, 5th September 7.45pm

Ireland will pick up their Euro 2020 qualification campaign on Thursday night. They hold a strong position in Group D, sitting on top of the pile. Ireland v Switzerland Betting Odds*

Switzerland 6/5
Draw 9/4
Ireland 14/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on September 3rd, 2019 at 5:15 p.m.)

Ireland News and Form

So it has been a good opening to the campaign from Ireland who are W3 D1 so far in the group. They had to come out and deliver too. They failed to win their Nations League group so don’t have the cushion of a playoff spot should they not reach the top two here. Their two nearest challengers, Denmark and Switzerland both have that safety net.

The only game that Ireland have failed to win in the group was in their 1-1 draw against Denmark. It does mean that the bulk of their easier games were out of the way early on, so the road is going to get tougher. But the chance to open up a nine-point lead over Switzerland (who have played two games less than the Irish) is a big advantage to try and strive towards.

The Irish are unbeaten in their last five internationals. They have conceded just one goal in that sequence of games. In European Championship qualifiers, Ireland are unbeaten in six, winning four of those. Ireland have won their last five European Championship qualification home matches, all without conceding and that includes wins over Germany as well as Bosnia & Herzegovina. Overall, Ireland are unbeaten in twelve home qualifiers.

Ireland v Switzerland Head to Head

Ireland took a 1-0 win over Switzerland in 2016 friendly
Switzerland are winless in three signs that Irish (D2 L1)
Both teams have scored in two of the last seven meetings only
Ireland are W8 D3 L5 in the overall head to head

Switzerland News and Form

Switzerland then are playing catch up. They have only played two qualifiers because they took a break for the UEFA Nations League Finals. The Swiss are W1 D1 in their opening two games of the European Championships 2020 qualifiers. They opened with a very good 2-0 away win in Georgia before playing out a crazy 3-3 draw with Denmark. If they win this game then it would leave their position looking much better.

They would draw to within three points of leaders Ireland with a game in hand over them. A loss and that could be a huge blow. Switzerland are W3 D1 in their last four European Championship qualifiers, conceding in just one of those. Their away form in such fixtures is a little patchy though. They are W4 L3 in their last seven European Championship away qualifiers, the losses happening in England, Slovenia in Wales. They did impress in Georgia in this group, they need to do the same in Dublin.

Ireland v Switzerland Tips & Odds

Draw match outright at 9/4
Under 1.5 goals at 6/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on September 3rd, 2019 at 5:15 p.m.)

Who will win – Ireland v Switzerland Predictions

Ireland are going to be under pressure from a good Switzerland side who did impress in Georgia. The Irish have to keep this tight and therefore it could be a low scoring game. A draw in the match outright is not a bad option to lean on. The hosts would favour that.

Ireland v Gibraltar Prediction & Betting Tips, 10th June 2019

Euro Betting

Ireland v Gibraltar Euro 2020 Qualifiers Preview, 10th June 7.45pm

Ireland got themselves a pretty good point out in Denmark on Friday to keep themselves in good position at the top of Group D. They are three points clear of second-placed Switzerland (having played a game more), going into this one. This should be a winnable home match for the Irish against Gibraltar who haven’t managed a goal or a point yet. Read our Ireland v Gibraltar betting tips for more.

Ireland v Gibraltar Betting Odds*

Ireland 1/50
Draw 18/1
Gibraltar 50/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 9th, 2019 at 6:50 p.m.)

Ireland News and Form

A late goal by Shane Duffy saw Ireland pick up a point in Denmark. That moved them on to a good five-match undefeated streak of form, winning two of them. They have suffered just one defeat in their last eight games now. Their struggles in front of goal have continued though as they have netted just the three goals in their last seven. Those three goals have come consecutively in their last three games though.

Each of Ireland’s last eight games have ended up going under 2.5 goals. Ireland have only conceded in two of their last seven played, so have been tight in defence, without question. The Irish opened their Euro 2020 qualification campaign with a game against Gibraltar and struggled to grind out a 1-0 away win. It is likely to be a it easier for them on home soil. Ireland though have come up with just one goal in their last four home games, so there’s no indication that they are going to be firing off a big score.

Ireland v Gibraltar Head to Head

Ireland won their one previous home game 7-0 against Gibraltar
The Irish have won all three previous fixture against Gibraltar
Gibraltar have failed to score in three against Ireland
Two of three previous meetings have gone over 2.5 goals

Gibraltar News and Form

Gibraltar suffered a 3-0 loss at Georgia on Friday, which leaves them without a point from their two Euro 2020 qualifiers. They have failed to score in either two. That is a five-match losing streak that Gibraltar are currently on since their 2-1 home win over Liechtenstein in October last year. Gibraltar have lost seven of their last nine fixtures, failing to score in six of those seven losses in the sequence.

They are W2 L5 in their last seven fixtures, their wins coming in back to back Nations League games against Armenia and then Leichtenstein. Their win in Armenia was their first ever competitive away victory. That is since joining UEFA. It is unlikely that they are going to be laying down a big threat to the Irish.

Ireland v Gibraltar Tips & Odds

Ireland 3-0 correct score
Under 3.5 goals at 13/8
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 9th, 2019 at 6:50 p.m.)

Who will win – Ireland v Gibraltar Predictions

It should be a comfortable home win for the Irish, but it’s probably not worth expecting a goal fest. Just twice in their last nine games have Gibraltar conceded more than three goals, so it’s worth looking at an Irish win and under 3.5 goals.

This is a big game in Group D of Euro 2020 qualification. Ireland have won their opening two games and are top of the table. Denmark v Ireland Betting Odds*

Denmark 8/15
Draw 11/4
Ireland 6/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 4th, 2019 at 9:22 p.m.)

Denmark News and Form

The Danes are unbeaten in their last eight games (W4 D4), so they are not going to be rolled over easily here. The Danes are on a three-match sequence of drawn games, starting with their 0-0 home draw against Ireland in the Nations League back in December. Both games between them in the Nations League campaign ended in a 0-0 draw. So it’s likely not worth backing this one to be a high scoring game at all.

That having been said the Danes have scored at least two goals in five of their last six games played. So far in the Euro 2020 qualifiers, Denmark collected a point from a tough opening game against Switzerland. That was a thrilling 3-3 draw in which the Danes scored all three of their goals in the final six minutes after having been 3-0 down. So they need a win out of this one to keep touch with the top two in Group D which are Ireland and Switzerland.

Denmark v Ireland Head to Head

There were two 0-0 draws between Denmark and Ireland in the Nations League
Three of the last four meetings have ended 0-0
Denmark have scored in just one of their last six against Ireland
Ireland are W3 D2 L1 in their last six against the Danes

Ireland News and Form

Ireland can really put themselves in a strong position with a win in this one. With second-placed Switzerland not in qualification action in this round, then it means that a win for Ireland sends them five points clear at the top, obviously having played a game more than either of their main contenders. The wins in Group D of Euro 2020 qualification so far from Ireland came through 1-0 victories of Gibraltar and Georgia. The shaky away win at Gibraltar snapped a six-match winless streak they were on.

Ireland has scored just the two goals now in their last six internationals. But by the same token, they have conceded just the one goal in that sequence of games. That was in a home defeat against Wales in the Nations League, Ireland finishing bottom of that group. So they badly need a lift. So while their opening wins in this qualification weren’t exactly overly convincing ones, they got the points on the board and that is a good platform from which to build.

Denmark v Ireland Tips & Odds

Under 2.5 goals at 8/15
Denmark to win by a 1 goal margin at 11/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on June 4th, 2019 at 9:22 p.m.)

Who will win – Denmark v Ireland Predictions

Ireland’s wins so far in the group haven’t convinced anyone that they have turned the corner. This is the toughest game in the qualifiers that they have faced so far and may be found wanting. Denmark are a solid team and should be able to just make the most of home advantage by getting a narrow win.

Ireland 4/7

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 24th, 2019 at 3:44 p.m.)

Ireland News and Form

A goal from Jeff Hendrick after the halftime break gave Ireland a win over Gibraltar on Saturday. The Irish made really hard work though of what should have been an easy game for them. That snapped a six-match winless streak of form that they were on since the start of the Nations League. The Irish only took two points from their Nations League campaign, from two 0-0 draws against Denmark.

Ireland didn’t score a single goal in the 2018 Nations League. So that is just the one goal in their last five games now. In that five-game streak, Ireland’s games have produced just two goals in total. That is because Ireland have taken three clean sheets in their last five. So they aren’t conceding much but aren’t producing in front of goal. Ireland are currently winless and scoreless in three at home.

Ireland v Georgia Head to Head

Georgia and Ireland drew 1-1 in their last meeting
Ireland have won all five previous home games against Georgia
Ireland are W8 D1 L0 in their overall head to head with Georgia
Each of the last three meetings have gone under 2.5 goals

Georgia News and Form

Georgia had an early setback in their qualification campaign as they suffered a 2-0 home loss against Switzerland on Saturday. That actually snapped some good form that they had been on. Georgia had a really good Nations League campaign, winning five of their six games (D1). They picked up a win in all three home games against Latvia, Andorra and Kazakhstan.

So while it wasn’t the toughest of opposition faced, it saw them in a good, confident mood. They didn’t quite deliver on the weekend though. Georgia have failed to score in their last three visits to Ireland but after seeing the Irish struggle so badly against Gibraltar, Georgia have to have hope of getting out of this trip without defeat. Looking back at their 2018 World Cup qualification campaign, Georgia failed to win a game, taking a D5 L5 record in a group which contained Ireland and Wales.

Who will win – Ireland v Georgia Predictions

There’s no value on Ireland at odds-on whatsoever, not after how they played in Gibraltar. Of the two teams, it is clearly Georgia who are in the better of the form. They may be able to come up with at least a stubborn draw in Dublin.

Gibraltar v Ireland Preview

Little surprise really that Gibraltar are the minnows of Group D and are expected to collect the wooden spoon in Euro 2020 qualification. During the Nations League, they  actually posted a W2 L4 record from their six games. The two wins during that Nations League campaign saw them beat Lichtenstein at home and take an away win in Armenia. Heading into this game against Ireland Gibraltar have lost their last two games though, shipping a total of 10 goals in the process. That was heavy defeats against Armenia and Macedonia in the Nations League. In their last seven games, Gibraltar have won three and lost four. Each of their last three games have all gone over the 2.5 goals line. This will be the third game against Ireland, as they were paired up in the Euro 2016 qualifiers. Gibraltar lost 4-0 at home against the Irish on that occasion, after a seven-nil drubbing in Dublin.

It was a poor return from Ireland in the Nations League as they only picked up two points from their four games played against Wales and Denmark. Ireland scored just one goal in those four games as well. They are well out of form at the moment and so this is an important game for them to try and get some momentum going in. Ireland have taken just one victory across their last 10 international fixtures, losing five of those.

Ireland are currently on a four-match streak without having scored a goal, but they have been defensively tight conceding just one goal themselves in the four games. This has to be a really big chance for them to get something going as an attacking force. Back in their World Cup 2018 qualification campaign Ireland did a fantastic job of picking up points on home soil which help them finished second behind Serbia. Away from home though they are winless in six, netting just one goal in that sequence of games.

Who will win – Gibraltar v Ireland Predictions

Ireland really should be picking up a comfortable three points in this fixture. Even though they haven’t been scoring very well they should be able to cut loose a bit in this one. Therefore a Ireland–3.25 Asian handicap is a 9/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 19th, 2019 at 3:50 p.m.)

The 2020 European Championships will certainly bring something a little different to the table. That is because for the first ever it will be hosted across numerous different nations. Nations League Influence

The bad news for reigning European Champions Portugal is that there is no automatic place at Euro 2020. It has to be earned. All 55 nations will go through the qualification process with the top two from each of the ten groups booking an automatic spot at the Finals. That leaves four spots up for grabs. Those will be filled through a play-off format for teams qualifying through the back door of the Nations League.

A team winning a Nations League Group (Scotland for example) automatically earn a place in the playoffs, if they don’t happen to qualify automatically from their Euro 2020 Qualification Group. There is one separate playoff tournament (consisting of four teams each) for each of the four leagues from the Nations League. The mini-playoff tournaments will produce the last four Euro 2020 finalists.

The other influence that the Nations League had was for each of the four group winners from League A. Those winners, Switzerland Portugal, Netherlands and England (who will be appearing in the 2019 Nations League Finals), started the Euro 2020 qualification draw in a separate pot. That means that each of them go in a qualification group consisting of five teams. The other six qualification groups all house six teams each. That’s to ensure that the dates stay free so the four of them can play the Nations League Finals. It’s basically to save those four nations from extra workload.

Group A

England 1/6
Czech Republic 6/1
Montenegro 12/1
Bulgaria 16/1
Kosovo 25/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

England go in a group of five then and they are 1/6 favourites to claim the win in this group* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm). It’s not too hard to see why really. There is really little to oppose them going forward. The Three Lions should be strong enough from their home performances alone to get the job completed. After their run to the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup this is still about development and progress for Gareth Southgate’s men. They are generally more than reliable enough in major tournament qualifying to back. It looks like a straight duel between Montenegro and the Czech Republic for the second spot. Both finished third in their respective World Cup 2018 qualifying groups and in the Nations League, they both managed to retain their respective statuses in League 2 and League 3 respectively.

Group B

Portugal 4/6
Serbia 5/2
Ukraine 4/1
Lithuania 66/1
Luxembourg 250/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

It is of course highly unlikely that Lithuania or Luxembourg are going to be anywhere near the top two at the end of this group. Aside from that, there are three teams going to be trying to squeeze into two slots. Portugal are the outright favourites at 4/6 to win the group* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm) but Serbia and Ukraine are threats here. Ukraine particularly had a strong nations league while Serbia moved up a tier in winning their group. Serbia won their World Cup 2018 qualification group over Ireland, Wales and Austria. This is going to be tough, but Portugal should have the quality to top out the group, but the other two will make it very interesting.

Group C

Germany 4/9
Netherlands 13/8
Northern Ireland 33/1
Belarus 100/1
Estonia 200/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

Old rivals Netherlands and Germany will get to meet each other again, just as they did in the Nations League recently. It was the Dutch who came out on top in that particular scrap as they took a very good four points off the Germans on their way to winning the group. Germany have been in a bit of a decline after such a poor 2018 World Cup too. Still, it is Dutch are who are 13/8 second favourites to win this group* (betting odds taken from Betfred on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm) behind the Germans despite all that. There’s a tough battle then for Northern Ireland ahead to try and muscle their way through.

Group D

Switzerland even money
Denmark 6/5
Ireland 11/2
Georgia 200/1
Gibraltar 1000/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

Straight off the bat, it is a three-way battle for the top two spots in this group. Of the three it is Ireland who are the least likely to get automatic qualification here. They have been having a tough time of things and while they will have a new manager for this qualification process, there appears to be a long way back for them after suffering relegation in the Nations League. It’s actually tough to split Switzerland and Denmark here in the race for top spot. We would probably just shade the extra strengths and depth of the Swiss. They should have extra confidence being a Nations League finalist.

Group E

Croatia 4/9
Wales 3/1
Slovakia 8/1
Hungary 20/1
Azerbaijan 66/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

The Welsh won’t be too unhappy with what is in front of them in Euro 2020 qualification. While there are always tricky away games in Europe to deal with, in this case, Hungary and Slovakia. However, the Dragons should be competitive enough to get into the picture for the top two here. Croatia, the 2018 World Cup runners-up are the 4/9 favourites to clinch the group* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm). It’s hard to see any of the others really doing enough to prevent them from doing so at the end of the day.

Group F

Spain 2/9
Sweden 13/2
Romania 11/1
Norway 12/1
Faroe Islands 50/1
Malta 1000/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

This looks on paper at least, to be a pretty straightforward affair to predict. Spain are the red-hot odds-on favourites to claim the top spot. Realistically only Sweden are going to be strong enough to mount any kind of threat against them, but even with that said it’s hard to see them doing enough to stop Spain topping the pile. Frankly, Norway, Romania and Sweden all look as if they are capable of taking points off of each other here. But the Swedes are the ones who look the most likely to book themselves a top two finish.

Group G

Poland 11/10
Austria 6/5
Slovenia 11/1
Israel 14/1
Macedonia 50/1
Latvia 100/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

You can chop the bottom three in the Group G winner market out of the equation. When while Slovenia are likely to be a difficult side to beat on home soil, they don’t look a big enough of a threat to go and steal a top two place from either Poland or Austria. So if it boils down to a contest between those two for top spot who gets it? Frankly, because Poland were surprisingly poor in the Nations League it may be worth opposing them in favour of Austria at 6/5 odds* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm)

Group H

France 1/6
Turkey 13/2
Iceland 10/1
Albania 50/1
Moldova 100/1
Andorra 1000/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

It would surprise absolutely no one if France go out and win this group. That looks a pretty dead-cert if ever there was one. But what about behind them in the race for the second spot? Iceland have had a really tough year and the side that you saw at Euro 2016 and which qualified for the 2018 World Cup has fallen apart. Turkey are so unpredictable of a side though it’s hard to throw a lot of confidence at either of them. Just because Turkey have better depth available to them and will be difficult opponents on home soil, they should join France in the top two.

Group I

Belgium 2/9
Russia 7/2
Scotland 14/1
Cyprus 80/1
Kazakhstan 150/1
San Marino 500/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

What a difficult group this is going to be for the Scottish. They managed to win their Nations League group so even if they don’t get in the top two here they will have a Euro 2020 playoff spot. That is because of their Nations League performance. That may turn out to be a blessing for them. Belgium should storm away with the group win in his one and even though Russia aren’t much more than average, they should produce enough to lock down a top-two finish.

Group J

Italy 1/3
Bosnia 4/1
Greece 9/1
Finland 16/1
Armenia 100/1
Liechtenstein 200/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

Italy are still rebuilding, looking at their youth and a whole new system under Roberto Mancini. We saw glimpses of better things from them at the Nations League and while they aren’t a major force at the moment, this is an easy group for them to win. Bosnia won their Nations League group and could throw down a bit of a challenge. Either way, the top two should be between those two. There aren’t enough goals among the other group occupants to expect anyone else to come through and upset the apple cart. As with most of the Euro 2020 qualification groups, it looks pretty predictable.
