It has been a big summer for Real Madrid with a new boss in charge and no Cristiano Ronaldo to rely upon anymore. They could only manage a third-place finish last season and have to find a way to close the gap to not only Barcelona but to Atletico Madrid as well. They get an opening game against Getafe who booked a solid top ten finish last term. Read our Real Madrid v Getafe predictions for more.
Real Madrid 2/11
* (Betting Odds were taken from August 15th, 2018 at 5:41 p.m.)
It was far from being the competitive season in La Liga that Real Madrid were hoping for last term. They banked a W12 D4 L3 record at the Bernabeu and they did end the season on a nine-match undefeated streak on home soil. They produced well in front of goal on home soil with an average of 2.8 goals per home game but their defence wasn’t at its best, taking a clean sheet in just 32% of home games.
For our Real Madrid v Getafe betting tips were are considering the big 6/5 value on both teams to score* (Betting Odds were taken from August 15th, 2018 at 5:41 p.m.). Obviously, they pretty much relied on Cristiano Ronaldo last season for goal output, so with him gone it is going to be interesting to see where the goals come from Gareth Bale is the 3/1 first goalscorer favourite for the fixture* (Betting Odds were taken from August 15th, 2018 at 5:41 p.m.).
Getafe finished 8th in last season’s La Liga table which was a pretty solid return from them. They did have a better season on home soil than they did out on the road. They posted a W6 D6 L7 record on their travels last season. We are looking over 3.5 goals at 5/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from August 15th, 2018 at 5:41 p.m.) because Getafe will get chances in this as the Real Madrid defence doesn’t look that strong.
Four of the last five meetings have gone over the goal line. Plus there have been over 2.5 goals scored in 12 of Real Madrid’s last 15 La Liga home games. Getafe’s big threats going forward are Jorge Molina and Angel, the former getting one against Real Madrid last season. This is a tough opener for the club but they are on a four-match winning streak on the road in La Liga with a clean sheet in three of those.
It was back to back wins for Real Madrid in last season’s La Liga against Getafe which moved them out to a nine-match winning streak in La Liga against them. There has been a trend of both teams having scored in each of the last five league meetings. Real Madrid have scored at least three goals in each of their last five home fixtures against Getafe.
Real Madrid should have enough in attack to break down their opponents and they will be looking to make a solid statement in this home opener for the season. For our Real Madrid v Getafe betting tips, we are going to back Real Madrid to win & both teams to score.

There was a huge set back for Real Madrid in midweek as they lost 1-0 at Espanyol, snapping a run of good league form that they were on. They had rested Cristiano Ronaldo for the game, but just when things looked to be going right, it all came tumbling down for them. They get a shot at redemption on the weekend as they face up to Getafe at the Bernabeu.
Real Madrid 2/11, Draw 13/2, Getafe 14/1* (Betting Odds taken at 9:15 p.m. on February 27th, 2018)
Real Madrid will be looking for a big response to that loss against Espanyol in midweek and they will want some confidence back before going to PSG and defending their 3-1 lead in the second leg of their Champions League Round of 16 tie next week. Real Madrid were on a four-match league winning streak before losing at Espanyol. At home they have won their last three La Liga games on the bounce, scoring a tremendous total of sixteen goals in those three games. So they have laid down plenty of scoring power lately. In the Betfair correct score market, a Real Madrid 2-0 option is at 13/2 odds with the 3-0 victory for them at 7/1* (Betting Odds taken at 9:15 p.m. on February 27th, 2018).
Overall this season Real Madrid have recorded a W8 D2 L3 record at the Bernabeu in the top flight and really were looking more like their old selves before that crash on Thursday night. Given the fact that Getafe are not a free-scoring side then Real Madrid to win to nil should carry plenty of appeal into this one and that is at even money odds with Betfair* (Betting Odds taken at 9:15 p.m. on February 27th, 2018). That is in the face of Real Madrid having only the one clean sheet in their last eleven league games. But they do have a great home from going against Getafe and you would expect some kind of response from them in this one.
Getafe aren’t the easiest side to get the better of, but they struggle to get enough on the board to go out and win games. Their campaign is built on their defensive strengths more than anything and they have failed to score in five of their last six top-flight away games (one goal in total) and that has led them to a W2 L4 record in that sequence. Getafe have managed just the one away win all season in the Spanish top flight with a W1 D6 L5 record having been posted and that lone away win was in their second road game for the season. So they are winless in ten on the road. They have totalled just the eight goals on their travels all season and just 25% of their away games have managed to make it over 2.5 goals so expect them to frustrate Los Merengues for long periods of the game. Each of their last six away games have gone under 2.5 goals now so have every chance of at least keeping the scoring down in his one.
Real Madrid were 2-1 winners out at Getafe earlier in the season and that is an eight-match winning streak over them that they are on in the Spanish top flight. They boss the head to head market really with a W18 D2 L5 lead over Getafe. Real Madrid have scored at least four goals in each of their last six home games against them.
Real Madrid should find the response of a league victory in this one. They will have one eye on their clash with PSG next week so a Real Madrid 2-0 correct score does have its appeal or you can play it safe and just back them to win to nil.

There was a rare slip up from Barcelona on the weekend as they were held by Espanyol in local a derby. Still, the Catalans remain undefeated for the entire league season and they are comfortable at the top of the pile, despite Atletico Madrid picking up two points on them over the weekend. Getafe are currently on a three-match drawing sequence in the top flight but they aren’t carrying great away form.
Barcelona 1/9, Draw 8/1, Getafe 20/1* (Betting Odds taken on February 5th, 2018 at 3:37 p.m.)
The Catalans were stopped in their winning streak last weekend as they played out a 1-1 draw in their local derby with Espanyol. Still, they are undefeated for the entire season still and at home are holding a W9 D1 L0 record so far this season and they are on a three-match winning streak there. The numbers are just so impressive from them this season and they have averaged 3.1 goals per game at the Nou Camp this season. Over 3.5 goals with Bet365 would not be out of the question therefore in this one. They have given up just the five goals at home as well this season so Barcelona to win to nil would be a decent option to consider as well. Luis Suarez has been on a hot scoring streak of form and is a decent first goalscorer option at bet365 for 5/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 7th, 2018 at 6:12 pm.). There should be another easy three points on offer for them.
Barcelona have had a pretty easy time of things recently against Getafe at home. They have won their last two home games by a 6-0 scoreline against them and they have already collected a league win against them this season a 2-1 away victory back in September. Barcelona are on a four-match winning streak against Getafe now and they are unbeaten in their last twelve matches against them. They are W6 D1 in their last seven home games against Getafe and they have managed to blank their opponents four of their last five meetings. In the Bet365 correct score market a Barcelona 3-0 is at 11/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 7th, 2018 at 6:12 pm.).
So a tough game lies ahead for Getafe in this one and they are not carrying any kind of away from with them to the Nou Camp. They have failed to win any of their last eight games out on the road in the Spanish top flight and they haven’t taken a clean sheet in any of their last nine played either. Surprisingly despite that, they have gone under 2.5 goals in each of their last out game away from home. Getafe have scored only eight goals away from home and so they are not lily to stand toe to toe with Barcelona in this one. Especially with not only one clean sheet behind them this term on their travels. Both teams not to score at bet365 makes the sensible option for this one. They have drawn each of their last three league games, earning a 1-1 draw at Sevilla in their last away game, which was a good point, but it’s hard to see them coming up with anything to get themselves into this match. Their overall record this season in La Liga away from home is just W1 D5 L4.
Barcelona to win to nil is probably the way to go for this one. Getafe have not produced very much out on the road at all and it’s hard to see Barcelona dropping points in back to back league games at the moment.

Getafe, who are already having their struggles this season, won’t be looking forward to this one most likely. They have already lost at home against Barcelona this season and now comes the visit of Real Madrid. Real Madrid have started to pick up their form with back to back wins in the Spanish top flight posted before the international break. Just goes to show how important a fit Cristiano Ronaldo is. Can they keep their momentum going with another away win? Real Madrid are 1/4 odds on favourites at bet365, with the draw at 5/1 and Getafe at 8/1.
Getafe have had a mixed season with a W2 D2 L3 record on the board in the Spanish top flight this season. At home they have played some notable games, having lost against Sevilla and Barcelona already, the current top two in the division. They did get their first home win of the season on the board by beating Villarreal in their most recent home fixture. So that was a good response from them. Each of their three defeats in the league this season have only been by a one goal margin and so there is a touch of resiliency there from them, even if they lack the overall quality to pick up more wins. Real Madrid to win by a one goal margin at bet365 is a good 3/1 option for this game.
Also because the defence of Real Madrid has not been anything spectacular there is a price of 10/11 on both teams to score at bet365 to consider as well. Real Madrid have won their last two games in La Liga, which is a marked improvement from them and it is the only occasion in which they have won back to back league games too this term. Away from home, they have taken three wins from three games but they have conceded in their last two. Real Madrid have only collected the two clean sheets this season so there is room for Getafe to get something on the board in this one and at least make it interesting. In the bet365 correct score market, a Real Madrid 2-1 option is a good 8/1 price.
Largely down to suspension, Cristiano Ronaldo has not scored a league goal this season but he is the 2/1 first goalscorer favourite at bet365. They are missing Gareth Bale through injury which is a blow as he has been in great form for them this season. Isco is a good 7/5 anytime goalscorer option with Marco Asensio at evens. They aren’t short of scoring power. In midweek Real Madrid have to face Tottenham in the Champions League so they may hold something back for that. Real Madrid have won their last three games at the Coliseum Alfonso Perez and they have scored at least three goals in each of their last seven games against them in La Liga. The last meetings were in the 2015/16 season with Real Madrid winning 5-1 away and 4-1 at home against Getafe.
Real Madrid to win: While the visitors will be expected to collect maximum points in this one, it may not be a big margin. Getafe have only narrowly lost at home to Seville and Barcelona and may be able to keep the score down against Real Madrid as well. Real Madrid to win by a one goal margin has appeal.

There is no writing off Barcelona then who impressed in midweek with a win over Juventus in the UEFA Champions League. They get back to league business on the weekend, looking to make it four wins from four in La Liga. Getafe have produced a mixed start to the new season with a W1 D1 L1 record on the board so far and not too surprisingly they are going as heavy underdogs to the tune of 12/1 in this one. Barcelona are 1/4 for the victory with the draw at 5/1.
Getafe are next in line to challenge Barcelona in this season’s La Liga. No-one has been able to get anything out of the Catalans so far in the Spanish top flight this term. Getafe have only posted a W1 D1 L1 record in La Liga this season and this will be just their second home game of the term. They lost their previous home fixture 1-0 against Sevilla who are starting the weekend in third place. There haven’t been a lot of goals in games involving them so far this season. You have a price of under 2.5 goals at 15/8 with bet365. Getafe have failed to score in each of their last three home games against Barcelona and from that sequence of games they have taken just the one point off the Catalans as well. Barcelona to win to nil at bet365 returns a price of 6/5 which looks a decent enough punt.
Barcelona have a three match winning streak going for the start of the new domestic season and Lionel Messi helped destroy Juventus in the UEFA Champions League in midweek. Messi is the 2/1 first goalscorer favourite at bet365 and he has scored six of Barcelona’s nine goals in the top flight so far this season. He is on fire. Two of Barcelona’s three games this season in La Liga have ended in a 2-0 scoreline in their favour and in the bet365 correct score market a Barcelona 2-0 option is a price of 13/2. That will of course back the game going under 2.5 goals as well. It has been plain sailing for them so far and they will want to keep the momentum going all the way through to their first tough game of the season which comes against Atletico Madrid in mid October. They have been steady, solid and can stretch their form to four wins from four this season in La Liga.
Barcelona to win: Barcelona have three clean sheets in their last three trips to Getafe and with their new players like Dembele having a good night in midweek, the confidence and belief looks to be slowly growing again. Barcelona to win 2-0 looks good value.
