Germany vs Northern Ireland Euro 2020 Qualifiers Preview, 19th November 7.45 pm

Germany secured their place at Euro 2020 on Saturday with a comfortable home win over Belarus. A win in this one will guarantee that they take the top spot, not that it matters. Northern Ireland’s slim chances of automatic qualification faded on Saturday as they were held to a home draw by the Netherlands. Read our Germany vs Northern Ireland betting tips for more.

Germany News and Form

A 4-0 home win by Germany was secured over Belarus on Saturday leaving them top of Group C by two points over the Netherlands. That continued a strong scoring streak of form that they have been on. Germany have scored at least two goals in each of their last eight internationals (competitive and friendly). So they are in good shape and have posted a W2 L1 record on home soil in this campaign, the reverse happening against the Netherlands.

German’s scoring on the weekend took them up to 24 goals in seven games, a scoring rate which is likely going to pose Northern Ireland some problems. Die Mannschaft have tallied up 14 goals in their three home games played. The loss against the Dutch in this campaign is the only home defeat that the Germans have suffered since the end of last year’s World Cup, part of a W4 D4 L1 record taken in that sequence. It has been just two home wins in their last six (competitive and friendly).

Germany vs Northern Ireland Head to Head

Germany are on an eight-match winning streak against the Irish
NI are D3 L8 in their eleven previous games against the Germans
Germany have conceded one goal only in their last four against the Irish
NI last visited Germany in 2016 and lost 2-0

Northern Ireland News and Form

Northern Ireland had to beat the Netherlands on Saturday to stand a chance of qualifying for Euro 2020 automatically. They could only play out a 0-0 draw, the key moment being a missed first-half penalty by Steven Davis. So the Irish will be going to the playoffs now. So nothing is riding on this game other than the chance to get a major lift of confidence by beating one of the best in the world.

That’s easier said than done though of course. Northern Ireland have won three of their last four away games (L1), and in this qualification campaign, they have won at Estonia and Belarus, while they lost 3-1 in the Netherlands. In European Championship qualification away games, the loss against the Dutch is the only one of two defeats that the Irish have suffered in their last eight such fixtures (W5 D1 L2). For a side who have scored 8 goals in 7 qualification matches, overpowering the Germans is going to be tough.

Who will win – Germany vs Northern Ireland Predictions

Unfortunately for Northern Ireland, a lack of goal-scoring threat is probably going to trip them up again against one of the stronger nations. Germany are delivering well in front of goal and with no pressure, a home win to nil looks a decent proposition.

Germany are in a tussle with the Netherlands to try and secure top spot in Group C. Those two are level on points. Germany News and Form

Germany hold a W5 L1 record in this group, the one reverse happening against the Netherlands. The Germans are not quite over the finish line in securing a place in the European Championships next summer, but they aren’t far away. A win on Saturday will be enough for them to do that because it will mean that third-placed Northern Ireland can’t catch them. Germany has scored 20 goals in their 6 qualification games.

Their loss against the Netherlands (at home) back in September is their only loss in their last eight games (competitive and friendly). Die Mannschaft won five of those games. Germany have scored at least two goals in each of their last seven games now and are going well in that department. They will probably have too much for Belarus to handle. Germany won 2-0 in Barysaw in the first meeting.

Germany vs Belarus Head to Head

Germany are W1 D1 in the two previous meetings with Belarus
Belarus lost 2-0 at home in the first group meeting
Germany have scored exactly two goals in both previous meetings

Belarus News and Form

Belarus have taken a W1 D1 L5 record from this qualification campaign. Across those seven matches, they have only scored four goals. Their one success happened in a 2-1 victory out at bottom side Estonia. That win is their only victory since the start of these European Championship qualifiers. In their last eight games, both competitive and friendly, Belarus are W1 D1 L6.

They have found the going harder than expected, especially after winning their Nations League group. The consolation that they have, after this poor qualification campaign, is that they are going to the play offs thanks to their Nations League efforts. Belarus are W3 D2 L4 in last nine European Championship away qualifiers, with one clean sheet in that sequence.

Germany vs Belarus Tips & Odds

Germany -3.75 Asian Handicap at 37/20
Timo Werner to score 2 or more goals at 5/2
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 12th, 2019 at 1:18 p.m.)

Who will win – Germany vs Belarus Predictions

This should be a nice easy night for Germany who will just be looking to finish this qualification job and reach Euro 2020 with a game to spare. There is more than a decent chance that they will get maximum points. They are good enough to cover a four-goal handicap as well.

Germany v Argentina International Friendly Preview, 9th October 7.45pm

This is the pick of the bunch when it comes to international friendly matches this week. Germany will be taking on Argentina in Dortmund and it is the hosts who are favourites. Neither squad is going to be at full strength for this one, with Germany having taken a heavy hit with injuries. Read our Germany v Argentina betting tips for more.

Germany 4/5
Draw 3/1
Argentina 14/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on October 8th, 2019 at 6:35 p.m.)

Germany News and Form

Germany will be lining up against Estonia on the 13th in their one game in the European Championships qualifiers during this international break. They get a warm-up for that one by taking on Argentina on Wednesday night. The Germans have won four of their last five games played, the one exception in that run, a 2-4 loss at home against the Netherlands in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. That is their only loss in their last eight fixtures and they seem to be on the road to recovery after a difficult year from late 2017 through to the end of the Nations League.

They are scoring a lot more freely at the moment, Die Mannschaft having netted at least two goals in each of their last five games played. Just once in their last eight have they failed to score at least two goals in a fixture. Surprisingly they have won only one of their last four at home, but have scored at least two goals in five of their last six. Germany aren’t at full strength with several players like Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan and Timo Werner sidelined.

Germany v Argentina Head to Head

The last meeting was a friendly in 2014 which Argentina won
Argentina have won two of the last three meetings
Germany trails the head to head W2 D3 L5
Both teams have scored in two of the last five meetings

Argentina News and Form

Argentina are always a really hard side to read when it comes to international friendly matches. It is not always them at their strongest that you see. But they have a good record nonetheless. Argentina are undefeated in their last four international friendly games, conceding just one goal in that sequence of games. However, really since that 6-1 drubbing by Spain back in March last year, they haven’t faced anyone of note other than Brazil (L1) and Mexico (W3).

So their experiences against European nations are hard to gauge. They aren’t at full complement for this one, with Lionel Messi out injured, and the Albiceleste have some fresh faces in their squad. Argentina has suffered just one loss in their last 10 friendly away games. However, the quality of opposition has to come into question in that sequence against the likes of Hong Kong, El Salvador and Iraq.

Germany v Argentina Tips & Odds

Germany 1 goal winning margin at 11/4
Under 2.5 goals at evens

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on August 29th, 2019 at 6:35 p.m.)

Who will win – Germany v Argentina Predictions

With both nations being deprived of some key figures, this may turn out to be a lower-key affair than expected. Germany certainly won’t want to risk too much ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Estonia. The Germans are a good home team, so they can grab the win by a one-goal margin.

Euro Betting

Northern Ireland v Germany Euro 2020 Qualifying Preview, 9th September 7.45pm

The pressure is going to start mounting for Northern Ireland in Group C. They have won four out of four played, but those were all their easier games. The difficulty goes up a few notches now as their final four games are two each against Germany and the Netherlands, starting with this one. Germany lost at home against the Dutch on Friday. Read our Northern Ireland v Germany betting tips for more.

Northern Ireland 8/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on September 7th, 2019 at 5:17 p.m.)

Northern Ireland News and Form

The wins that Northern Ireland have taken in the group happened against Estonia and Belarus, the two easiest opponents. But still, the points had to be collected and that is just what they have done so far. It at least allows Northern Ireland to stick in there and get a draw out of this game and leave themselves still in a pretty good position to make a run at automatic qualification. Can the Irish raise their game in this tougher match?

Northern Ireland weren’t in qualification action on Friday, instead, they played out a 1-0 low key home friendly win over Luxembourg on Thursday. That puts them on to a five-match winning streak (competitive and friendly) and that is decent momentum from them, regardless of the opposition. Northern Ireland had lost all four of their Nations League matches and had been on a run of one win in eight fixtures before this upswing. Northern Ireland are undefeated in their last seven home European Championship qualifiers (W5 D2).

Northern Ireland v Germany Head to Head

Germany won both meetings in 2018 World Cup qualifying
Northern Ireland are on a seven-match losing streak against Germany
Germany are W7 D3 L0 in the head to head against Northern Ireland
Both teams have scored in one of the last six meetings

Germany News and Form

Germany had a chance on Friday night to really take control of their own destiny in this qualification group. They had won their opening three games of the campaign, but despite taking the lead at home against the Netherlands on Friday, they ended up suffering a 4-2 defeat against the Dutch.

So that leaves Die Mannschaft three points behind leaders Northern Ireland, with the Netherlands three points behind them. The Dutch have played a game less than Germany has. So Germany have to step it up again and from this point can’t really afford to drop more points. It is a W3 D1 L1 record that Germany have produced in their five games since the end of the Nations League.

Surprisingly the draw and the loss in that sequence happened on home soil. Germany have won away in the Netherlands and in Belarus so far in this group. Three of their four group stage games have gone over 4.5 goals. Germany have won six of their last eight European Championship away qualifiers, scoring at least two goals in each of those successes in the sequence.

Who will win – Northern Ireland v Germany Predictions

Northern Ireland will be back at full strength for this one. Given Germany’s wobbles against the Dutch, they may be a little anxious. We are going to suggest that Northern Ireland can at least stick in there and be level at the half time break. However, we expect Germany to find a win to come up with a response to that home defeat against the Dutch.

Germany News and Form

After their World Cup 2018 and Nations League fixtures, Germany are on track to reach Euro 2020. They have won each of their three opening games of qualification, scoring thirteen goals in the process. Germany started their campaign with a 3-2 win in the Netherlands. That was a big statement from Die Mannschaft having taken just one point from their two games against the Dutch in the Nations League last year.

Germany are W4 D2 in their last six games (competitive and friendly). They are on a four match winning streak in European Championship qualifiers as well, having scored at least two goals in each of those four victories. If you dial into their home form in the European Championship qualifiers, then it makes for some impressive reading. They have won 11 of their last 13 home qualifiers (D2) and have suffered just one loss in such a fixtures since November 2016.

Germany v Netherlands Head to Head

Germany won 3-2 in the group’s first meeting
In last year’s Nations League the Dutch took four points against the Germans
Germany are W8 D11 L9 in the head to head against the Netherlands
Six of the last seven meetings have gone over 2.5 goals

Netherlands News and Form

The Netherlands are W1 L1 from their opening two games of qualification. They are playing catch up in fixtures because of their participation in the Nations League Finals, where they lost the final 1-0 to Portugal. It has been just a bit of patchy form creeping into their game recently. They are W2 D1 L2 in their last five played now. After failing to reach the World Cup 2018 that Nations League surprise group win was a huge lift for them.

They can’t afford to lose this game and have a nine point gap open between themselves and Germany as that would be a tremendous amount of ground for them to make up. The other problem for the Dutch in the group is Northern Ireland who won their opening four games. The Netherlands do though have a guaranteed place in the qualification play-offs if they can’t make the top two in Group C. That was their reward for topping their Nations League group.

Germany v Netherlands Tips & Odds

Germany to win & both teams to score at 5/2

Who will win – Germany v Netherlands Predictions

Germany will recognise the massive step towards qualification that they can take if they pick up three points at home against the Netherlands. We expect them to come out strongly and get the visitors under pressure. The Dutch haven’t quite been at it in their last few games. Home win, but both teams to score.

Germany have already made it to the round of sixteen having won their opening two games. All that’s left for them to do is lock down top spot. They need just a point to do that. South Africa have already missed out on automatic qualification and would need a pretty big win to stand any chance of finishing as one of the best third-placed teams. South Africa Women News and Form

South Africa opened their account with a 3-1 reverse against Spain at the World Cup. That was after actually taking a surprise lead in the fixture. They then fell to a 1-0 loss against China, which was their most likely game to get a win out of. Now they have to try and face group leaders Germany and find a way to beat them heavy. South Africa have a -3 goal difference and even a win isn’t likely to get them into one of the four best third-placed team positions in the group.

South Africa are now on a twelve match winless streak of form, having lost six of their last seven played. In six of their last eight games, South Africa have conceded at least two goals in a game. This has been a tough debut at the World Cup from them. It’s unlikely that they are going to pose a big threat to Germany Women.

Germany News and Form

Germany have recorded 1-0 wins over both China and Spain now in the group. It hasn’t been particularly great stuff from them. Even though they are one of the front runners in the tournament it has been quite a stifled display from them so far. Spain put in a terrific performance against them, dominating possession over the Germans. But still, Germany found a way to win and that is what they do, what they are good at. Maybe they are saving themselves for the knockouts but they haven’t looked as good as the likes of France and the USA so far.

Germany have not conceded in any of their last three games. They are unbeaten in fourteen games now, winning twelve of those. So you can’t exactly fault them and they did beat the French in a friendly early this year. So it has been nothing more than Germany being at their efficient best so far, but once again, it is really hard not to back them to go out and get the win on the board.

South Africa Women v Germany Tips & Odds

Who will win – South Africa Women v Germany Predictions

It’s Germany all the way. They have looked happy to just sit back and not really express themselves as an attacking unit at the tournament. There’s no reason to expect that they will change and they will want to conserve energy ahead of the knockout. German 2-0 correct score looks a good fit.

Germany News and Form

Germany looks in pretty good shape to make a deep run at the 2019 Women’s World Cup. Four years ago they took a fourth-place finish, losing to England in the third-place match at the tournament. But that was an improved finish over their quarter-final spot four years prior. Germany are the reigning Olympic champions which should put them in good stead. However, they have had a fairly recent change of manager.

One of their stars is forward Alexandra Popp who they will rely on heavily for their output. They have a world class player in the middle of the park as well in Dzsenifer Marozsan. So they are not short of their star power at all. They will create plenty of chances in this one and they have won five of their last six games. Back in February they met France for a friendly and beat them and they followed that up with a win over Sweden as well. They look in good shape, having scored exactly two goals in each of their last three games played.

China News and Form

China topped their qualification group to reach the 2019 Women’s World Cup. They didn’t have any trouble at all, winning all three games to power their way through. In some tougher matches, testing themselves against stronger teams they have come up a little bit short since then though.

Back in March they faced Norway, Denmark and the Netherlands in the Algarve Cup and posted a D1 L2 record from those three games. Their final warm-up ahead of the World Cup saw them lose a friendly against France 2-1. Their star power is in PSG midfielder Wang Shuang, and it is likely to come to a big scrap between China and Spain for the second automatic qualification spot from this group.

Belarus News and Form

Belarus are probably going to be a little disappointed with their early returns from Euro 2020 qualification. That is because they went into them on the back of a strong Nations League campaign. They actually won their Nations League group ahead Luxembourg, Moldova and San Marino. Belarus posted a W4 D2 record in those six games, scoring ten unanswered goals. So that was some positive momentum from them. But then it came crashing down a bit with back to back defeats in their opening two Euro 2020 qualifiers.

Those were a 4-0 loss against the Netherlands and then a 2-1 reverse against Northern Ireland. So now they have a lot to do in order to claw their way back into qualification contention. The good thing for them is that in winning their Nations League group, they at least are guaranteed a place in the Euro 2020 qualifiers playoffs if they can’t reach the top two in this group.

Belarus v Germany Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between the two nations

Germany News and Form

The Germans opened their Euro 2020 qualifiers with a 3-2 win out in the Netherlands. That was a strong result from them after the disaster of a Nations League campaign that Die Mannschaft had put together. In that Nations League campaign they failed to pick up a win in their four games against the Netherlands and France, finishing with a D2 L2 record. That was a disaster for Germany, after what was a disastrous 2018 World Cup when they finished bottom of their group.

So in taking a win in the Netherlands in their opening Euro 2020 qualifier was huge for them. It leaves them trailing leaders Northern Ireland by three points, but level on points with the Netherlands, the Dutch having played a game less. Germany are W2 D2 in their last four games now them, but their defence does still look a bit susceptible. They have taken just the one clean sheet in their last seven played now. But they will be much happier with their own output having scored at least two goals in three of their last four.

Netherlands v Germany Preview

On Thursday night the Netherlands played host to Belarus in their opening Euro 2020 qualification fixture and produced a 4-0 success. This game against Germany will be the toughest home game that they get in their qualification campaign. If they make it two wins from two to start, that would put them well on the path to booking a spot in next summer’s competition. Back in the Nations League campaign last year, the Netherlands topped their group ahead of France and Germany.

They are currently undefeated in their last four fixtures which saw them take home wins over Germany and France, while picking up draws away at Belgium and Germany. The Netherlands have only lost one of their last nine international fixtures, winning four of those. They are currently on a three-match winning streak at home, scoring at least two goals in each of those games. The last six meetings between the two rivals have ended up over 2.5 goals.

Germany are still on the hunt for some much-improved form and consistency. They had a disaster at the 2018 World Cup as they bowed out in the group stage. Then on top of that towards the end of last year, they were relegated from their UEFA Nations League group. During that Nations League campaign, they lost both of their away games against France and Netherlands.

In their last eight games, Germany have only managed to pick up the two victories. They warmed up for their Euro 2020 qualification campaign with a 1-1 home draw against Serbia. Germany were nowhere near at full strength in that game though. They have been struggling at the back with only two clean sheets in their last 14 international fixtures. Without counting their games at the 2018 World Cup, Germany are on a three-match losing streak away from home. Can they pull themselves together in Amsterdam? Germany have failed to score in their last two visits there.

Who will win – Netherlands v Germany Predictions

The Netherlands look the clear better of the two at the moment and they have every chance of making it six points from six at the start of their Euro 2020 qualification campaign. Euro 2020 qualifying – predictions & betting odds

International Football Betting

The 2020 European Championships will certainly bring something a little different to the table. That is because for the first ever it will be hosted across numerous different nations. Twelve of them in fact. So Euro 2020 is going to be quite the spectacle with Wembley playing host to the semi-finals and the final.

The Euro 2020 draw was made in early December 2018 for the qualification process. Here we take a look at the road ahead as the participating nations try and make it to Euro 2020.

Nations League Influence

The bad news for reigning European Champions Portugal is that there is no automatic place at Euro 2020. It has to be earned. All 55 nations will go through the qualification process with the top two from each of the ten groups booking an automatic spot at the Finals. That leaves four spots up for grabs. Those will be filled through a play-off format for teams qualifying through the back door of the Nations League.

A team winning a Nations League Group (Scotland for example) automatically earn a place in the playoffs, if they don’t happen to qualify automatically from their Euro 2020 Qualification Group. There is one separate playoff tournament (consisting of four teams each) for each of the four leagues from the Nations League. The mini-playoff tournaments will produce the last four Euro 2020 finalists.

The other influence that the Nations League had was for each of the four group winners from League A. Those winners, Switzerland Portugal, Netherlands and England (who will be appearing in the 2019 Nations League Finals), started the Euro 2020 qualification draw in a separate pot. That means that each of them go in a qualification group consisting of five teams. The other six qualification groups all house six teams each. That’s to ensure that the dates stay free so the four of them can play the Nations League Finals. It’s basically to save those four nations from extra workload.

England go in a group of five then and they are 1/6 favourites to claim the win in this group* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm). It’s not too hard to see why really. There is really little to oppose them going forward. The Three Lions should be strong enough from their home performances alone to get the job completed. After their run to the semi-final of the 2018 World Cup this is still about development and progress for Gareth Southgate’s men. They are generally more than reliable enough in major tournament qualifying to back. It looks like a straight duel between Montenegro and the Czech Republic for the second spot. Both finished third in their respective World Cup 2018 qualifying groups and in the Nations League, they both managed to retain their respective statuses in League 2 and League 3 respectively.

Group B

Portugal 4/6
Serbia 5/2
Ukraine 4/1
Lithuania 66/1
Luxembourg 250/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

It is of course highly unlikely that Lithuania or Luxembourg are going to be anywhere near the top two at the end of this group. Aside from that, there are three teams going to be trying to squeeze into two slots. Portugal are the outright favourites at 4/6 to win the group* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm) but Serbia and Ukraine are threats here. Ukraine particularly had a strong nations league while Serbia moved up a tier in winning their group. Serbia won their World Cup 2018 qualification group over Ireland, Wales and Austria. This is going to be tough, but Portugal should have the quality to top out the group, but the other two will make it very interesting.

Group C

Germany 4/9
Netherlands 13/8
Northern Ireland 33/1
Belarus 100/1
Estonia 200/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

Old rivals Netherlands and Germany will get to meet each other again, just as they did in the Nations League recently. It was the Dutch who came out on top in that particular scrap as they took a very good four points off the Germans on their way to winning the group. Germany have been in a bit of a decline after such a poor 2018 World Cup too. Still, it is Dutch are who are 13/8 second favourites to win this group* (betting odds taken from Betfred on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm) behind the Germans despite all that. There’s a tough battle then for Northern Ireland ahead to try and muscle their way through.

Group D

Switzerland even money
Denmark 6/5
Ireland 11/2
Georgia 200/1
Gibraltar 1000/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

Straight off the bat, it is a three-way battle for the top two spots in this group. Of the three it is Ireland who are the least likely to get automatic qualification here. They have been having a tough time of things and while they will have a new manager for this qualification process, there appears to be a long way back for them after suffering relegation in the Nations League. It’s actually tough to split Switzerland and Denmark here in the race for top spot. We would probably just shade the extra strengths and depth of the Swiss. They should have extra confidence being a Nations League finalist.

Group E

Croatia 4/9
Wales 3/1
Slovakia 8/1
Hungary 20/1
Azerbaijan 66/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

The Welsh won’t be too unhappy with what is in front of them in Euro 2020 qualification. While there are always tricky away games in Europe to deal with, in this case, Hungary and Slovakia. However, the Dragons should be competitive enough to get into the picture for the top two here. Croatia, the 2018 World Cup runners-up are the 4/9 favourites to clinch the group* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm). It’s hard to see any of the others really doing enough to prevent them from doing so at the end of the day.

Group F

Spain 2/9
Sweden 13/2
Romania 11/1
Norway 12/1
Faroe Islands 50/1
Malta 1000/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

This looks on paper at least, to be a pretty straightforward affair to predict. Spain are the red-hot odds-on favourites to claim the top spot. Realistically only Sweden are going to be strong enough to mount any kind of threat against them, but even with that said it’s hard to see them doing enough to stop Spain topping the pile. Frankly, Norway, Romania and Sweden all look as if they are capable of taking points off of each other here. But the Swedes are the ones who look the most likely to book themselves a top two finish.

Group G

Poland 11/10
Austria 6/5
Slovenia 11/1
Israel 14/1
Macedonia 50/1
Latvia 100/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

You can chop the bottom three in the Group G winner market out of the equation. When while Slovenia are likely to be a difficult side to beat on home soil, they don’t look a big enough of a threat to go and steal a top two place from either Poland or Austria. So if it boils down to a contest between those two for top spot who gets it? Frankly, because Poland were surprisingly poor in the Nations League it may be worth opposing them in favour of Austria at 6/5 odds* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 8:11 pm)

Group H

France 1/6
Turkey 13/2
Iceland 10/1
Albania 50/1
Moldova 100/1
Andorra 1000/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

It would surprise absolutely no one if France go out and win this group. That looks a pretty dead-cert if ever there was one. But what about behind them in the race for the second spot? Iceland have had a really tough year and the side that you saw at Euro 2016 and which qualified for the 2018 World Cup has fallen apart. Turkey are so unpredictable of a side though it’s hard to throw a lot of confidence at either of them. Just because Turkey have better depth available to them and will be difficult opponents on home soil, they should join France in the top two.

Group I

Belgium 2/9
Russia 7/2
Scotland 14/1
Cyprus 80/1
Kazakhstan 150/1
San Marino 500/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

What a difficult group this is going to be for the Scottish. They managed to win their Nations League group so even if they don’t get in the top two here they will have a Euro 2020 playoff spot. That is because of their Nations League performance. That may turn out to be a blessing for them. Belgium should storm away with the group win in his one and even though Russia aren’t much more than average, they should produce enough to lock down a top-two finish.

Group J

Italy 1/3
Bosnia 4/1
Greece 9/1
Finland 16/1
Armenia 100/1
Liechtenstein 200/1
* (betting odds taken from Coral on December 11th, 2018 at 10:52 pm)

Italy are still rebuilding, looking at their youth and a whole new system under Roberto Mancini. We saw glimpses of better things from them at the Nations League and while they aren’t a major force at the moment, this is an easy group for them to win. Bosnia won their Nations League group and could throw down a bit of a challenge. Either way, the top two should be between those two. There aren’t enough goals among the other group occupants to expect anyone else to come through and upset the apple cart. As with most of the Euro 2020 qualification groups, it looks pretty predictable.
