Europa League Betting

Rangers v Feyenoord Europa League Preview, 19th September 8.00pm

It is a home advantage for Rangers on matchday one of the Europa League. They will be looking for a big night at Ibrox to take some early control of this group. Feyenoord have struggled in European away games in recent fixtures and there could be a good night for the Gers. Read our Rangers v Feyenoord betting tips for more.

Rangers v Feyenoord Betting Odds*

Rangers 13/10
Feyenoord 2/1
Draw 23/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on September 15th, 2019 at 11:30 p.m.)

Rangers News and Form

Rangers hold a W5 D4 L7 record against Dutch club. In those sixteen games, the Scottish side have failed to score in eight, including the last three. Their most recent meeting with a Dutch side was a 1-0 home loss against PSV in the 201/11 Europa League round of sixteen. The Gers were runner up to Celtic in the Scottish to flight last season. That left them entering the Europa League at the first qualifying round.

A late goal by Alfredo Morelos gave them a playoff win over Legia Warsaw. The Gers are unbeaten in 13 home European games now, winning nine of them (including qualifiers). They have won all four at Ibrox this season. Rangers have shipped just 5 goals in their last 13 home games and haven’t conceded more than one goal in any of their last nine home European fixtures.

Rangers v Feyenoord Head to Head

Rangers and Feyenoord met in the 2002 UEFA Cup
There was a 1-1 draw at Ibrox
The Dutch side won their home game 3-2 against the Gers

Feyenoord News and Form

Feyenoord started their qualification campaign in the third round. They came through that qualification campaign completely untroubled. This is the third time that they have been in the group stage of the Europa League. In their most recent, back in the 2016/17 season, they only took a third-place finish despite opening with a home win over Manchester United. They snapped a run of nine European away games without a victory (D3 L6) with a win in Israel against Hapoel Beer Sheva in the third qualifying round of this campaign. Still, it has been only two successes in their last 21 European road games, losing fifteen on those.

Rangers v Feyenoord Tips & Odds

Rangers to win outright at 13/10
To Win To Nil – Rangers at 3/1

Who will win – Rangers v Feyenoord Predictions

Feyenoord are not good travellers in Europe and this is a good chance for Rangers to get off the mark. The home form of the Gers in Europe is excellent and they don’t give much up at the back. A home win to nil looks a decent proposition for this fixture.

Manchester United v Astana Europa League Preview, 19th September 8.00pm

Manchester United News and Form

The Red Devils lifted the trophy on their previous participation in the Europa League, which was back in 2016/17. They beat Ajax in the final. This is the fourth Europa League campaign for Manchester United, but only their second time in the group stage. In their previous group stage effort, United lost their opener against Feyenoord. The Red Devils are unbeaten in nine Europa League home fixtures and have won all previous home games in the group stage. They have, however, lost their last two European home games and in the Champions League took just a W1 D1 L4 in their last six fixtures at Old Trafford.

Manchester United v Astana Head to Head

This will be the first meeting between Man Utd and Astana

Astana News and Form

Kazakhstan champions Astana have a trip of 4,800km to visit Old Trafford. That’s just a brutal trip for a Thursday night. They had to go through the qualifiers this season, starting in the third qualifying round. They claimed a win over Valletta at that stage before knocking out BATE Borisov in the pay off round. In their most recent Europa League campaign (2017/18) they did manage to get out of their group. That was the first time ever in UEFA competition that they had made it to action in the spring. They lost 6-4 on aggregate to Sporting. Astana have won only one of their last ten European away games (D4 L5) which includes qualifiers. They away record in the Europa League is W3 D1 L5.

There will be something amiss if the Red Devils don’t collect a win in this one. The bookmakers think it is going to be a stroll in the park for them. We have to agree and Manchester United to win to nil looks a sensible wager.

Wolves v Braga Prediction & Betting Tips, 19th September 2019

Europa League Betting

Wolves v Braga Europa League Preview, 19th September 8.00pm

Wolves put together a very good qualification campaign and now the business starts for them in the group stage. This is their first-ever group stage action in the Europa League. They kick things off with the visit of Braga, who like Wolves, came through their qualification campaign with a perfect record. Read our Wolves v Braga betting tips for more.

Wolves 4/7
Draw 14/5
Braga 5/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on September 15th, 2019 at 11:30 p.m.)

Wolves News and Form

Wolves won all six of their qualification games as they compete in Europe for the first time in 39 years. This will be their seventh fixture against Portuguese opposition and from those previous fixtures, Wolves hold a W5 L1 record. Wolves have won all three of their previous home games against Portuguese visitors. It was a seventh-place finish in the Premier League that Wolves took last season to make it to the Europa League. They scored at least two goals in all six of their qualification matches. They are currently on a seven-match winning streak at Molineux in Europe. While they are winless in this season’s Premier League (D3 L2) Wolves have gotten their act together well in Europe.

Wolves v Braga Head to Head

This is the first meeting between Wolves and Braga

Braga News and Form

Portuguese side Braga are seasoned campaigners. Will that work to their advantage in this tie? Braga’s record against English opposition is W6 D2 L10. They have only won once in England (against Birmingham in the 2011/12 Europa League). The last time they paid a visit to England was a clash at Old Trafford against Manchester United in the 2012/13 Champions League group stage. Braga took a 2-0 lead in the game but lost 3-2.

Braga had to come through qualifying rounds to reach the main draw. They won all four of their games in their two ties against Brondby and Spartak Moscow. This is their fifth appearance in the Europa League group stage. They are undefeated in their last seven European away games now (W5 D2). They are W3 D6 L3 in Europa League group stage away wins.

Who will win – Wolves v Braga Predictions

We see enough in the threat of Braga to suggest that they can get on the scoresheet. It’s not as if the defence of Wolves has been great this season. Still, we expect the home win, but consider the both teams to score option as well.

Rennes News and Form

Rennes are back in the Europa League having pulled off a shock win over PSG in the French Cup final last season. It was a penalty shoot-out win which they took to lift the cup. In last season’s Europa League they made it through the group stage (having qualified directly) with a second-place finish. They took out Real Betis in the round of 32 but were stopped by Arsenal in the following round.

This is just their third Europa League group stage appearance They have only suffered one defeat in their last 14 home games in the UEFA Cup/Europa League (W7 D6). The Brittany club have never beaten a Scottish club having picked up a D2 L2 record in their four previous attempts. Rennes are sitting in second place in this season’s French top flight.

Rennes v Celtic Head to Head

Celtic met Rennes in the 2011 Europa League group stage
There was a 1-1 draw between them in France
Celtic then took a 3-1 home win

Celtic News and Form

Celtic have claimed only five wins from their previous 16 games against French opposition. The two most recent encounters went badly as they lost 5-0 and 7-1 against PSG in the 2017/18 Champions League. They have taken just one previous win in France. After winning the double in Scotland for the third straight season, Celtic went to the Champions League qualifiers. They failed to qualify for the main draw, losing out in the third round of Cluj.

Celtic won their Europa League playoff round tie against AIK easy to reach the group stage of the competition for the sixth time. In last season’s Europa League, Celtic lost five games in the competition. They had failed to win out on the road in the competition before their 1-0 success at Rosenborg in last season’s group stage. They are W1 D8 L9 in their overall away matches in the competition proper.

Celtic have poor away form in the Europa League and this is not going to be an easy trip to France for them. It is probably just worth resting with the home win as the outcome for a betting angle.

Eintracht Frankfurt News and Form

Eintracht Frankfurt are undefeated in their last five games against English visitors (W2 D3). Their most recent home game against an English side was when Chelsea paid a visit in last season’s mi finals and the game ended in a 1-1 tie. In total the German team played 14 matches in last season’s long Europa League adventure. It was some campaign from them as on their way to the semi’s they knocked out three teams who had come down from the Champions League ( Shakhtar Donetsk, Internazionale and Benfica).

In his season’s campaign, they started in the second qualifying round and after easy wins in that against Flora and then Vaduz, Eintracht beat Strasbourg in the playoff round. Their overall record in the Europa League is W21 D6 L3 so they are no mugs at this competition (including qualification games). They have never lost a home game in the Europa League either with a W12 D3 record and in the group stage specifically, they have won all six home games, conceding just one goal in that sequence.

Arsenal News and Form

The Gunners will have thier work cut out for them here. They made the EL inal last season where they were brushed aside by fellow Londoners Chelsea. Arsenal finds themselves back in the Europa League after only managing a fifth-place finish in the Premier League last season. Before losing to Chelsea in Baku in last season’s Europa League Final, Arsenal had been on a five-match winning streak in Europe.

In last season’s group stage, Arsenal won all three of their road games and didn’t concede in any of those. In the season before that they took a W2 L1 record in their three group stage away games. Overall, including knockout stage fixtures, Arsenal hold a W9 D1 L4 record away from home in the Europa League. They have tallied 25 goals in that sequence.

Rangers v Legia Warsaw Europa League Preview, 29th August 7.45pm

Rangers have some work to do as this tie hangs in the balance. It was a 0-0 draw that they played out in Poland for the first leg. While they are favourites to get through, there is always that threat of the visitors getting an away goal.  Read our Rangers v Legia Warsaw betting tips for more.

Rangers v Legia Warsaw Betting Odds*

Rangers 4/9
Draw 3/1
Legia Warsaw 7/1
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on August 25th, 2019 at 8:28 p.m.)

Rangers News and Form

It was a 0-0 draw in the first leg of this tie, which, when you look at Legia Warsaw’s results this season, wasn’t unexpected. Will Rangers be able to make the breakthrough against a watertight defence at Ibrox? The timing of this is not great for the Gers really, because this is a high-pressure game just ahead of their first meeting of the season against rivals Celtic in the Scottish top flight on the weekend.

Rangers are carrying good form though with a win in five of their last six played (D1). In the previous round of the Europa League, the Gers beat Midtjylland 7-3 on aggregate. Rangers are unbeaten in their 2019/20 Europa League campaign, winning all but two of their seven games.

The two exceptions were a 0-0 draw at Progres and then against Legia away from home. At Ibrox, it is a twelve match undefeated streak of former in their last 12 Europa League games that the Gers are on. They have won their last three in a row there, scoring 11 and conceding 1 in that sequence.

Rangers v Legia Warsaw Head to Head

This tie is the first meeting between Rangers and Legia Warsaw

Legia Warsaw News and Form

There is no way that Legia Warsaw area going to turn up in Glasgow and just rollover. It is an eight-match undefeated streak of form that they are in the Europa League, but they have drawn five of those. Legia are W1 D3 in their last four played in the competition this season. Of the seven games in the Europa League which they have played this season, four of them have ended in a 0-0 draw. The Polish side haven’t conceded a single goal in qualification yet.

While that speaks volumes about their defence, do they have enough in the attack? But it is the defence which takes centre stage. Can Rangers break them down? It may be another big test of patience from the Gers. Warsaw’s away form in the competition may offer some hope to Rangers fans. Legia Warsaw have won only one of their last nine on the road in the competition and are W1 D4 in their last five. Note though that they did take a clean sheet in four of those five games.

Rangers v Legia Warsaw Tips & Odds

Who will win – Rangers v Legia Warsaw Predictions

We expect another tight battle between these two as there was not much splitting them in the first game. But with home advantage, we will lean towards a 1 goal margin win for Rangers.

Wolves v Torino Europa League Preview, 29th August 7.45pm

This tie is certainly living up to its top billing as Wolves earned a 3-2 win out in Italy. Torino have to come looking for goals. Read our Wolves v Torino betting tips for more.

Wolves News and Form

Wolves have taken to the Europa League pretty well this season. They just can’t let it be a distraction from their Premier League duties. They hold a good advantage in this tie with their 3-2 win in Italy. That made it five wins from five for Wolves and have scored at least two goals in all of their matches in the competition this season.

Wolves have scored six unanswered goals at Molineux this season in the Europa League. Raul Jiminez has been on fire with a five-goal haul in the competition, with Diogo Jota chipping in with three. The key here could all be in those away goals. That was a fantastic return from them and sets them up nicely. With Torino having to come and score at least two goals on the night, Wolves should get chance themselves.

Wolves v Torino Head to Head

This tie is the first meeting between the two clubs

Torino News and Form

The Italians have some work to do then to pull themselves back into contention here. They aren’t down and out and their goals in the first leg will give them some hope. But the minimum of a 2-0 win is what they need. Do they have that in them? In this season’s Europa League they are W3 D1 L1, going winless in their last two.

They have scored at least two goals in four of their five games in the competition. But if you flip things around, Torino have one clean sheet in their last four only. In their Europa League campaign this season, they took a 4-1 win at Debrecen before a 1-1 draw at Shakhtyor in their road games. Andre Belotti has five goals in this season’s campaign, but unlike Wolves’ Jiminez who has the same tally, three of Belotti’s have been from the penalty spot.

Wolves v Torino Tips & Odds

AIK Solna News and Form

AIK have their backs against the wall now. They came into the Europa League qualifiers at the third round stage after having lost out in the Champions League qualifiers against Maribor. So they are W3 D1 L3 in their seven European fixtures this season, so a real mixed bag. They won both of their home games in the Champions League qualifiers but were held to a 1-1 tie in the Europa League third qualifying round against Sheriff. AIK are actually winless in their last four Europa League home games now (D3 L1). Each of the draws in that sequence were 1-1 results. On a positive note, they have suffered only two losses in their last nine Europa League home fixtures. Can they fight back?

AIK Solna v Celtic Head to Head

This tie is the first time AIK and Celtic have met

Celtic News and Form

So it was good work from Celtic to give themselves an advantage in this tie after taking a 2-0 win at Celtic Park. Can they push on from their now? They remained perfect for the season in the Premiership over the weekend with a win over Hearts. Celtic had started in the opening round of the Champions League qualifiers and won all four of their games in the first and second qualifying rounds. They then ran into CFR Cluj. Still, a 1-1 away draw in the first leg of that third-round tie didn’t look too bad for Celtic. It was an away goal and home soil to come.

But Celtic tanked to a devastating 3-4 home loss against Cluj, which is why they are now in the Europa League. Goals from James Forrest and Odsonne Edouard gave them the advantage in this tie. Celtic don’t actually have a great deal of Europa League form going. They are W4 L5 in their last nine in the competition. They were on a three-match losing streak (from last season’s group stage) before their win over AIK in this tie.

* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on August 18th, 2019 7:27 p.m.)

Celtic News and Form

It was a massive collapse that Celtic had on home soil in the third qualifying round of the UEFA Champions League. They had played out a 1-1 first leg away draw against Romanian side Cluj. But then a wasteful night in front of goal and some hapless defending saw Celtic lose 3-4 in the home leg of the tie. So that put their Champions League ambitions on ice for another year. In their last four games across all competitions, Celtic are now just W1 D2 L1 (90 minutes) so there is a bit of pressure mounting there.

They really can’t afford not to get into the Europa League now. This is where they ended up last season as well after a failed Champions League qualification campaign. They beat FK Suduva 4-1 on aggregate in last season’s playoffs before managing to pull off a dramatic escape from their Europa League group stage. Celtic were sent packing in the round of 32 by Valencia. The Bhoys have been scoring well this season, can they make the most of home advantage?

Celtic v AIK Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two teams

AIK News and Form

AIK are more than halfway through their domestic league season so they are coming in sharp. Like Celtic, they started this season in the Champions League qualifiers. They couldn’t make it past the second qualifying round there though, losing out in a thrilling tie against Maribor. So that sent them to the Europa League where they knocked down FC Sheriff in the third qualifying round.

So that has been their path in Europe this season. From their six European games played this season AIK Solna haven’t kept a clean sheet and all but one of them have gone over 2.5 goals, so this may be an entertaining fixture. They have lost two of their three away games, both defeats happening by a 2-1 scoreline.

Legia Warsaw News and Form

There is nothing wrong with the form of Legia Warsaw this season. They started their Europa League campaign in the first qualifying round where they eased to a 3-0 aggregates success over Europa. Then they were relatively untroubled in getting past KUPS Kuopio in the next round. Their third qualifying round tie, Legia Warsaw wrapped up away from home with a 2-0 aggregate win over Atromitos. That is six Europa League games played this season, no goals conceded. Their home form from their ties so far this season is W2 D1. So they could prove to be a very stubborn opponent for Rangers to break down. Legia Warsaw have failed in their last four qualification campaigns to reach the group stage of a UEFA tournament.

Legia Warsaw v Rangers Head to Head

This is the first meeting between the two clubs

Rangers News and Form

Rangers have been very strong through the early part of the season. They too started in the first qualifying round of the Europa League where they thumped St Joseph’s 10-0 on aggregate. Then they collected a relatively comfortable 2-0 aggregate win over Progres Niedercorn before winning out 7-3 on aggregate over Midtjylland in an entertaining third qualifying round tie.

That is a W8 D1 record that Rangers have taken in all competitions this season and they have scored at least two goals in all of their wins. The thing that boss Steven Gerrard is going to be a little bit concerned about is the lack of clean sheets. They conceded in both legs against Midtjylland and have bagged only one clean sheet in their last five games across all competitions.
