Bayern Munich have dominated the DFL Supercup. They have won it for the last six years straight and three of those wins have game against Borussia Dortmund. It’s another meeting between the two heavyweights on the weekend. This year’s edition is being played in Dortmund’s own backyard. Will that help them turn the tables on their rivals? Bayern Munich 23/20
Borussia Dortmund 11/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on July 31st, 2019 at 11:35 p.m.)
Dortmund had the Bundesliga title in their hands last season but threw it all away. They were in such a commanding position but some misfires during the run-in proved costly. Perhaps none less so than a 5-0 drubbing away at Bayern Munich. They still put up some impressive figures in the Bundesliga with a W23 D7 L4 record on the board. They averaged 2.4 goals per game across the course of the domestic league season as well.
They have won the Supercup five times before in their history and have finished runners up four times. Their last title came in 2014 and they have been beaten by Bayern Munich on their last two visits. One of those occasions was in 2016 when they met at the Signal Iduna Park. Borussia Dortmund’s top scorer this season in the league was Marco Reus with 21 goals, closely followed by Paco Alcacaer with 19.
The two traded home wins in the Bundesliga last season
Both league meetings last season produced exactly five goals each
Each of the last eight meetings have produced at least three goals
Bayern are W 4 D1 L1 in their last six against Dortmund in all competitions
Six Supercup titles in a row for Bayern Munich then. It has been a remarkable run of form. Two of those six wins have been produced via a penalty shootout. Twelve months ago they went up against Eintracht Frankfurt and thumped them 5-0. It was a bit of a slow start to season that Bayern Munich ploughed through last term, boss Nico Kovac facing a bit of pressure.
But they managed to get things together and came on strongly over the second half of the season. It was another successful season from them, winning the DFB Pokal along with the Bundleisga and the SUper cup. Star striker Robert Lewandowski scored 40 goals across the season in all competitions. They have had a busy summer with the International Champions Cup and the Audi Cup.
Bayern have looked pretty sharp and have bolstered their defence massively over the summer with big signings of Benjamin Pavard and Lucas Hernandez. They have this uncanny knack of just getting the job done. Bayern Munich are at 8/13 to lift the title* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on July 31st, 2019 at 11:35 p.m.)

There’s plenty at stake here for both these. Dortmund’s slim title hopes are still alive but in order to win it, they have to collect three points in this and hope that leaders Bayern lose. This is actually a tricky away game for Dortmund as they take on fourth-placed Moenchengladbach. A win is actually the only way that they guarantee a Champions League place next season. Borussia Dortmund 11/10
Borussia Moenchengladbach 21/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on May 15th, 2019 at 3:20 p.m.)
This is a tricky game for Moenchengladbach. They are starting the weekend in fourth place but only on goal difference over Leverkusen. So even if they end up losing they won’t want it to be a big scoreline. But just matching Leverkusen’s result on the weekend may not be good enough. That is because Frankfurt are just two points back of them and could be in the picture (although they are visiting Bayern Munich). Moenchengladbach collected a 4-0 away win at Nurnberg last weekend which snapped a three-match winless streak of form (D1 L2). they have only won two of their last eight league outings now.
Their home form for the season is W9 D3 L4 and in their home campaign, they have scored at just under two goals per game. In total, 69% of their home games have made it over 2.5 goals, Moenchengladbach taking a clean sheet in 38% of home fixtures. Of their nine home successes this season, eight of them have been by a margin of at least two goals. The problem for them is that they have gone winless in their last seven league Bundesliga home fixture. They have not taken a clean sheet in that sequence either. Of the home goals which they have produced, 81% of them have been netted in the second period of fixtures. Moenchengladbach have opened the scoring in 9 of their home games.
Dortmund edged a 2-1 home win over Moehengladbacjin December
Dortmund are on a seven-match winning streak against Monchengladbach
7 of the last 8 meetings have gone over 2.5 goals
Dortmund are on a three-match winning streak at Moenchengladbach
Dortmund only have a slim chance of landing the Bundesliga title. They produced a 3-2 home win over Dusseldorf last weekend to take the title race to the final weekend. They have to win this fixture and hope that Bayern Munich lose at home against Frankfurt on the same day (which doesn’t’ look too probable). Dortmund’s away record this season is W14 D5 L3 and they have averaged 1.7 goals per road game. In total, 62% of their road fixtures have made it over 2.5 goals. Dromund have collected a clean sheet in 38% of their road games.
Their recent away form hasn’t been great, posting just a W2 D1 L2 in their last five. So that is a big reason for their title challenge having slipped. Of the eight away wins that they have taken this season, five of them have been by a margin of just the one goal. They have netted at least two goals in each of their last five league fixtures. Of their away goals conceded, 63% of them have gone against them in the first period of games. Their defence has conceded at least two goals in each of their last three road games though. There’s really nothing left for them to lose now and everything to gain. They can go beast mode on this one.
This should be a good, competitive game, although of the two it is the home side who are naturally going to be a little more cautious. But because Dortmund are likely to score, that just opens the game up. Dortmund to win & both teams to score.

This is the penultimate round of action in the Bundesliga and the title is still there for Dortmund. They have, however, seen their chances of getting it slip away and now trail Bayern Munich by four points. So all that they can do is win and hope that someone trips up their title rivals. Dusseldorf are sat in mid-table and a leaky defence could offer BVB some hope. Read our Borussia Dortmund v Dusseldorf betting tips for more.
Borussia Dortmund 3/10
Fortuna Dusseldorf 15/2
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on May 9th, 2019 at 11:47 p.m.)
Dortmund had another costly slip up last weekend as they were held to a 2-2 draw out at Werder Bremen. That was the last thing they needed after having lost at home against Schalke in their previous match. So it means that this weekend they could see their title chance vanish, even if they win this fixture. Dortmund are W13 D2 L1 at home this season, their long unbeaten run being snapped in that 2-4 reverse against Schalke in their last home fixture. That was the game which really broke them.
At home this season they have averaged over 3 goals per game, conceding at an average of 1.4 per game. 88% of their league home games have gone over 2.5 goals, while 69% of them have ended over 3.5 goals. They have fallen a little short at the back as they have taken a clean sheet in just 19% of home games. BVB have scored at least two goals in every single home game this season though. 61% of their home goals have been scored in the second half of fixture. They have been leading at half time in 9 of their 16 games at home.
Dusseldorf upset Dortmund with a 2-1 results in December
Dusseldorf have lost just one of their last five against BVB in all competitions
Borussia Dortmund are undefeated in seven home games against Dusseldorf
Just one of the last six meetings have produced a win for the away team
Dusseldorf played out a 1-1 draw last weekend out at Freiburg. That has been just the one win in their last four games played now for them. The away record that Dusseldorf has produced this season is only W4 D5 L7. They have managed to average 1.25 goals per away game on average. The troubles for them really have been at the back where they have conceded at over two goals per game on average. That’s 62% of their away games that have gone over 2.5 goals.
Their road record away at top ten sides this season has yet to produce a win. They are D3 L5 in such games. They have produced a clean sheet in 19% of their away games and all of their seven away defeats have been by a margin of at least two goals. Of the away goals that they have shipped on their travels, 62% of them have been in the second half of games. Dusseldorf have no clean sheet in any of their last eight league games, home and away in the Bundesliga. They have the third-worst defensive record in the top flight.
This should produce three points for Dortmund. Their recent upsets have realistically shut the door on their title hopes. But they can sign off in their final home game of the season on a positive. There’s likely to be plenty of goals in this for them.

Bayern Munich 8/15
Borussia Dortmund 17/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on August 29th, 2019 at 6:35 p.m.)
Bayern Munich had really ramped things up over the second half of the season. Since the start of December, they have dropped only four points from fifteen Bundesliga fixtures. Last weekend they were held to a 1-1 draw by Freiburg, snapping a six-match winning streak that they were on. Bayern hold a W9 D3 L1 record on home soil this season, and they are undefeated in their last nine there. They are currently ticking over on a seven-match home winning streak.
Bayern have scored in each of their last twenty league games, and they have tallied up eighteen goals in his last four league fixtures. They have won their last two home games by a 6-0 scoreline and have produced at least three goals in all but one of their last five league home games. Last season in this corresponding fixture, Bayern smashed BVB 6-0. Bayern have conceded at under a goal per game at home this season and will move one point above Dortmund with six to play following this one if they win it.
Dortmund took a 3-2 home win over Bayern back in November’s league meeting
Bayern Munich had been on a three-match winning streak in all competitions over them before that
Each of the last seven meetings have produced at least three goals
Dortmund lost their last four league visits to the Allianz Arena
Can Dortmund stretch their lead out to five points? This may be a title-deciding result if they could pick up three points on the weekend. They are back in form with a three-match winning streak behind them, scoring at least two goals in each of those. They had just been on a sticky patch of form with one win in five before that. Dortmund have only lost two league games this season and both of those were away from home against Dusseldorf and Augsburg.
The away record of Dortmund this season is at W7 D4 L2 and they have averaged 1.6 goals per game in those fixtures. They have conceded at under a goal per away game on average. In total, they have taken a clean sheet in 38% of their away games, but this one looks as it if will be another high scoring affair. Dortmund have scored in each of their last five away games, but they have conceded at least two in each of their last two road fixtures. Dortmund have scored 62% of their away goals after the half time break in games. Pressure is on.
Bayern have been in really hot form recently and they can step up to the plate in this huge showdown. Their title ambitions are at stake here and with home advantage, they are going to be throwing the kitchen sink at BVB. Bayern to win and both teams to score.

Borussia Dortmund 19/20
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on March 3rd, 2019 at 7:34 p.m.)
A big effort from Borussia Dortmund is needed now from them. Their last appearance in the round of sixteen was in the 2016/17 campaign where they overturned a 1-0 first leg deficit against Benfica by winning 4-0 back at home. That’s exactly the minimum they need here. Their record is W3 L1 in their four previous ties at this stage of the competition. This is the fifth time in seven season that they have been in the round of sixteen. They have only won one of their last seven games in UEFA competition knockouts.
Their record against English sides is W3 L2 in two-legged knockout ties. Their most recent home fixture against English opponents was against Liverpool in the 2015/16 UEFA Europa League quarters. Their match record at home against English opposition is W6 D4 L2. The two home losses they have taken against English sides have been against Spurs last season and Arsenal back in the 2013/14 group stage. Dortmund have not conceded a European home goal this season. The Germans have won only three of their last nine European home matches (D2 L4). BVB have won eight of the 16 UEFA competition ties in which they lost the first leg away from home.
Spurs know that they are going to come under pressure in this one. Each of the five previous games between these two have gone over 2.5 goals. Spurs are looking to make the quarterfinals for the second time in their history. They are W1 L1 at this stage of the competition. Spurs are unbeaten in their two previous away games at this stage of the competition (W1 D1). The Lilywhites have only lost one of their last five visits to Germany, which was their visit to Dortmund in 2016.
Their overall record there is W4 D2 L6. Spurs are W4 L3 in their seven previous two-legged knockout ties against Germany sides. Spurs have, however, lost their last two. Spurs only collected the two points from their three group stage away wins. Tottenham have only picked up the four wins in their last 18 European away fixtures (W7 L7). The North London club have won 16 of the 18 ties in UEFA competition in which they won the home first leg.
This may all come down to what kind of start Dortmund can get on the board. An early goal will rattle the visitors. However, while Dortmund are unlikely to actually qualify from the tie, they may well have enough to win this leg at least.

Borussia Dortmund 2/5
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on February 14th, 2019 at 4:46 p.m.)
It has been a difficult season for Nürnberg who are t athe foot of the table in the German top flight. They are seven points clear of certain safety as well, so they have some work to do. However, they are not showing any kind of form that is going to get them out of trouble. They have taken only one point from their last eight league games. Across the course of the season, they have only won two games. The positive from that is that those were home fixtures. The second of those wins though was all the way back at the end of September.
Overall this season at home in the Bundesliga, Nürnberg are W2 D4 L5. Nürnberg have produced 11 goals on home soil in the league this season, conceding 15. Just 27% of their home games have made it over the 2.5 goal line. They have failed to claim a win in any of their last eight home games (D3 L5) and they have not earned a clean sheet in any of those eight. Actually, they don’t have a clean sheet in fifteen league fixtures. Nürnberg have scored just two goals in their last four league home games. In none of their last eight at home have they scored more than one goal.
League leaders Borussia Dortmund have started to feel the pressure of success. They have seen their momentum halted a bit. They won 12 of their first 15 Bunesliga fixtures this season (D3) and they are only now W3 D2 L1 in their last six played. They have drawn their last two league outings against Frankfurt and Hoffenheim. Out on the road, they have won only one of their last three (D1 L1) and they have watched Bayern Munich slowly make up ground on them.
Dortmund have posted a W6 D3 L1 away record this season and of note, one of the away draws they had to settle for, was a 0-0 at Hannover, who are second from bottom currently. When Dortmund played host to Nürnberg back in September, they ran up seven unanswered goals. Dortmund went to Spurs in midweek in the Champions League and left Wembley with a 3-0 defeat. That will have been a big blow to their confidence. They need a big lift. Dortmund have conceded under a goal per game on average away from home. They have taken a clean sheet in 40% of their road fixtures.
It hasn’t been great stuff from Dortmund lately in terms of results. They have plenty of star power to turn it around and they should deliver against the bottom side in the league. Dortmund to win to nil at 13/8 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on February 14th, 2019 at 4:46 p.m.)

Tottenham miraculously pulled themselves through to the knockout stage of this season’s Champions League with a dramatic 1-1 draw at Barcelona on matchday six. They got here and that’s all that matters. Each of the four previous fixtures between Spurs and BVB have happened in the last three years. They first met in the 2015/16 Europa League with Dortmund winning 5-1 on aggregate in the round of sixteen. Then in the Champions League group stage last year, Spurs took back to back wins over the Germans. Both teams have scored in three for their four previous matches.
Tottenham are in their third round of sixteen tie. They are W1 L1 from the previous two. Spurs are still looking for their first ever home win in a Champions League knockout match (D1 L2). They have scored just one goal in those three games. Spurs were on an unbeaten W6 D1 record at home against German sides before Dortmund turned up in 2016. With a defeat against Bayern Leverkusen in November, Spurs are W1 L2 in their last three home games against German sides. Spurs are W4 L3 though in two-legged ties against German opponent. Spurs have, however, lost their last two.
Dortmund are top of the Bundesliga at the moment. They also topped their group in the Champions League, finishing level with Atletico Madrid on points but winning the head to head. This is the fifth time that Dortmund have been in the round of sixteen, the last one was in 2016/17 when they recovered at home after a first leg loss at Benfica. BVB are W3 L1 in their four previous round of sixteen ties. They have, however, won only one of their last six knockout phase matches in UEFA competition (D2 L3).
Borussia Dortmund have been in five previous two-legged ties against English opposition and from that they are W3 L2. Their most recent was a loss against Liverpool in the 2015/16 Europa League quarterfinals. Dortmund have lost three of their last four visits to England, the one exception a defeat at Spurs in 2016. Overall BVB are W4 D1 L7 in their previous twelve tips to England. Dortmund have actually only won two of their last eleven away matches in Europe.
It’s a tough match to call really as Spurs are going well at the moment without Harry Kane, but Dortmund are a powerful attacking side, the likes of which Spurs don’t meet too often. It’s worth just having a look at the game being a high scoring one over 2.5 goals.

Dortmund lost their unbeaten record for the season last weekend in a 2-1 reverse out at Dusseldorf. So what do the league leaders have in terms of a response? They are W12 D3 L1 this season overall in the Bundesliga and they are undefeated on home soil. They have picked up a W7 D1 record at the Westfalenstadion. They have won their last three home games on the bounce and they have also scored at least two goals every home fixture this season. In total, they have produced a whopping 27 goals in their eight home fixtures. They have conceded 10. They are the current top scorers in the division.
75% of their home games have gone over 3.5 and 50% have made it above 4.5 goals. 75% of Dortmund’s home fixtures have finished with exactly four goals scored. Both teams have scored in 75% of the fixtures this season in Die Borussen home game. BVB have been winning at halftime in five of their home games this season. Of the 27 goals which they have scored at home, 17 of them have been in the second half of matches. Only two sides have conceded fewer goals than they have (one of them being Moenchengladbach)
Dortmund have won their last four league home games against Monchengladbach
Dortmund have scored fourteen goals in their last three home games against them
Dortmund are on a six-match winning streak against Monchengladbach in the league (home and away)
Both teams have scored in four of the last five meetings
Moenchengladbach collected a 2-0 home win over Nurnberg last weekend which kept them perfect on home soil this season in the Bundesliga. Overall this season, they have gone W10 D3 L3. They are only W2 D3 L3 on their travels through and they have collected the one victory in their last four away from home (D1 L2). Moenchengladbach have totalled 12 away goals, conceding 13 this season. 50% of their road matches have gone over 3.5 goals. They have scored in 75% of their away games this season
Moenchengladbach have kept three straight clean sheets and they have taken one in two of their eight road fixtures this season. They have actually opened the scoring in four of their eight road fixtures. Moenchengladbach have the second best offensive and second-best defensive records in the league. Looking at their goals conceded this season, 81% of them have been away from home. There is such a big three points up for grabs for them here. They are already sitting eight points better off than they were at this stage of last season’s campaign. Can they topple the leaders?
What a great game this should be. Both will know the importance of landing three points here. But for us, it is home advantage to Dortmund which is going to tip this. They have the scoring power to get the better of the visitors, who haven’t been as hot on the road. Dortmund to win & both teams to score

This is one of the big highlights of the European action this weekend and the Bundesliga is pretty interesting this season. Bayern Munich haven’t had a great season and go in third place on the weekend, four points behind leaders Dortmund. So they have a difficult game here as they try a claw their way back into the title race. Dortmund though have been nothing but prolific in front of goal this season in the German top flight.

Bayern Munich 11/10
Borussia Dortmund 21/10
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 5th, 2018 at 8:54 p.m.)
Dortmund remains undefeated in this season’s top flight as they collected a 1-0 win at Wolfsburg last weekend to move on to a W7 D3 record. From their home games in the Bundesliga this season they have produced a W4 D1 record. Their scoring form on home soil in the league has been phenomenal. They have averaged four goals per home game so far and each of their five games have made it above the 3.5 goal line. Despite that, they are underdogs for this game. Over 2.5 goals is at 4/7 odds* (betting odds taken on November 7th, 2018 at 7:32 pm)
Oft the home goals which they have come up with this season they have scored 65% of them in the second half of fixtures. They haven’t been the tightest at the back as they collected just the one home clean sheet. They have opened the scoring in three of their five home games. Dortmund have put together an eight match scoring streak in the league at the moment and on home soil, they have netted at least two goals in each of their five games. Both teams to score is at 8/15 odds* (betting odds taken on November 7th, 2018 at 7:32 pm). Dortmund, who would open up a seven-point lead over Bayern with a home win, have been leading at both half time and full time in three of their five home games.
Bayern won all four matches (all competitions) against Dortmund last season
Bayern Munich have won the last three Bundesliga meetings
Both teams have scored in each of the last six games
Reach for the last six meetings have produced at least 3 goals
In the last six Bundesliga meetings, Bayern are W4 D1 L1 against Dortmund
Bayern Munich haven’t been running in top gear this season in the Bundesliga as they have produced a W6 D2 L2 record and most of their problems have been at home strangely. Two-thirds of those wins have been away from home. Out on their travels in the league, this season Bayern Munich are W4 D0 L1. They have won their last league games out on the road, taking down both Wolfsburg and Mainz. They have gone without a clean sheet in their last three road games. In the correct score market a Borussia Dortmund 2-1 option is at 10/11 odds with the shortest priced option the 1-1 draw* (betting odds taken on November 7th, 2018 at 7:32 pm)
Bayern have averaged exactly two goals per away game this season in the top flight and 60% of their away games have made it above 2.5 goals. They have been scoring well on their travels and they have been ahead at half time in all but one of their road games. Bayern Munich do have the best away record in this season’s Bundesliga with twelve points so that could count for a lot for punters looking to back them. Former Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski is the 13/5 first goalscorer favourite* (betting odds taken on November 7th, 2018 at 7:32 pm). He has four goals in five away games this season for Bayern.
There have been clear problems with Bayern Munich and the system they are going for this season. BVB have just hit the ground running and with them scoring so well this season, we can only predict the home win as the outcome, especially at such a good price.

Atletico Madrid 3/4
Borussia Dortmund 15/4
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on November 4th, 2018 at 2:39 p.m.)
The Spaniards occupy second place in the Group A so they are playing catch up to Borussia Dortmund after their big 4-0 loss against the Germans a fortnight ago. In their only home game of the campaign so far, Atleti beat Club Brugge 3-1 on match day two. Both teams to score is at 4/5 odds* (betting odds taken on November 4th 2018 at 10:47 am). Before taking that loss against Dortmund in their last Champions League match, they were on a five-match winning streak in Europe. That was also just their second defeated in their last 17 European games (W11 D4).
Atletico had a terrible Champions League campaign last season as they failed to get out of their group, winning just the one game along the way at the Wanda Metropolitana. They went down 2-1 against Chelsea during that campaign, snapping an eleven match unbeaten streak at their new stadium in Europe. Atletico have won their last six European home games though, with a clean sheet in five of those. Atletico to win to nil is at 2/1 odds* (betting odds taken on November 4th 2018 at 10:47 am)
The loss against Chelsea is their only defeat in 19 games at home (W15 D3) so it isn’t as if they are a pushover on home soil at all. Atletico Madrid are undefeated in their last eight games on home soil against German sides as well. In their most recent home game against a German side, they produced a 0-0 draw against Bayer Leverkusen in the 2016/17 Champions League. They are likely going to need more than that if they are going to keep their hopes of winning the group alive.
Before this season’s meetings, there were four previous games between them
They traded away wins in the 1996/97 Champions League group stage
In the 1965/66 European Cup Winners’ Cup Dortmund won 2-1 on aggregate
In both of those campaigns, Dortmund went on to actually win the title in the competition
It has been three wins from three in the group stage so far for Borussia Dortmund which leaves them fully in control of things. Their 4-0 win over Atletico on match day three snapped a run of four winless games against Spanish sides. It gives them the luxury really of just going to Atletico Madrid in midweek and playing out a draw. That would suit them well enough. Dortmund are at 15/4 odds to land a match win in this one* (betting odds taken on November 4th 2018 at 10:47 am). If they win they will win the group. It has definitely been a much-improved output from them this season as they had won just one of eleven Champions League matches before this season’s campaign.
Their win at Club Brugge on match day one was their first away win in eight European games (D2L4). But they have things together this season. They don’t have a strong record in Spain though as they are just W1 D5 L8 from their previous visits there. The lone win in the sequence did happen out at Atletico in the 1996/97 group stage, the season when Dortmund won the trophy. They went to Spain last season and lost 3-2 at Real Madrid in the group stage. Dortmund are undefeated in all competitions this season across all competitions and they have scored at least two goals in all but one of their last nine games in all competitions. Over 2.5 goals is at 10/11 odds* (betting odds taken on November 4th 2018 at 10:47 am)
The draw has the most appeal in the match outright. That’s all that Dortmund need away from home to keep themselves in a strong position with easy games against Monaco and Brugge to come. We are settling on the draw.
