Germany v Argentina International Friendly Preview, 9th October 7.45pm

This is the pick of the bunch when it comes to international friendly matches this week. Germany will be taking on Argentina in Dortmund and it is the hosts who are favourites. Neither squad is going to be at full strength for this one, with Germany having taken a heavy hit with injuries. Read our Germany v Argentina betting tips for more.

Germany News and Form

Germany will be lining up against Estonia on the 13th in their one game in the European Championships qualifiers during this international break. They get a warm-up for that one by taking on Argentina on Wednesday night. The Germans have won four of their last five games played, the one exception in that run, a 2-4 loss at home against the Netherlands in the Euro 2020 qualifiers. That is their only loss in their last eight fixtures and they seem to be on the road to recovery after a difficult year from late 2017 through to the end of the Nations League.

They are scoring a lot more freely at the moment, Die Mannschaft having netted at least two goals in each of their last five games played. Just once in their last eight have they failed to score at least two goals in a fixture. Surprisingly they have won only one of their last four at home, but have scored at least two goals in five of their last six. Germany aren’t at full strength with several players like Toni Kroos, Ilkay Gundogan and Timo Werner sidelined.

Germany v Argentina Head to Head

The last meeting was a friendly in 2014 which Argentina won
Argentina have won two of the last three meetings
Germany trails the head to head W2 D3 L5
Both teams have scored in two of the last five meetings

Argentina News and Form

Argentina are always a really hard side to read when it comes to international friendly matches. It is not always them at their strongest that you see. But they have a good record nonetheless. Argentina are undefeated in their last four international friendly games, conceding just one goal in that sequence of games. However, really since that 6-1 drubbing by Spain back in March last year, they haven’t faced anyone of note other than Brazil (L1) and Mexico (W3).

So their experiences against European nations are hard to gauge. They aren’t at full complement for this one, with Lionel Messi out injured, and the Albiceleste have some fresh faces in their squad. Argentina has suffered just one loss in their last 10 friendly away games. However, the quality of opposition has to come into question in that sequence against the likes of Hong Kong, El Salvador and Iraq.

Germany v Argentina Tips & Odds

Germany 1 goal winning margin at 11/4
Under 2.5 goals at evens

Who will win – Germany v Argentina Predictions

With both nations being deprived of some key figures, this may turn out to be a lower-key affair than expected. Germany certainly won’t want to risk too much ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Estonia. The Germans are a good home team, so they can grab the win by a one-goal margin.

International Football Betting

Brazil v Argentina International Friendly Preview, 16th October 7.00pm

This South American clash is going to be one of the highlights of the midweek international action. Whether the two produce strong starting eleven for the clash remains to be seen. Still, it is one of the most attractive looking fixtures in world football as the game is part of a small friendly tournament being held out in Saudi Arabia. Read our Brazil v Argentina betting tips for more.

Brazil v Argentina Betting Odds*

Brazil 8/15
Draw 14/5
Argentina 11/2
* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on October 14th, 2018 at 5:28 p.m.)

Brazil News and Form

Brazil manager Tite has selected a pretty strong squad for this small round-robin tournament which includes Saudi Arabia and Iraq. Brazil posted a 2-0 win over Saudi Arabia on Friday with Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus getting the opening goal of the game. They had pretty much a full complement of players, including Neymar, Fred, Philippe Coutinho, Richarlison and Allison Becker in the squad. Neymar is the 12/5 first goalscorer favourite* (betting odds taken on October 14th, 2018 at 8:00 pm).

So they are strong and they have put together a three-match winning streak without conceding a single goal. Brazil to win to nil is at 11/8 odds* (betting odds taken on October 14th, 2018 at 8:00 pm). There is a trend there as each of Brazil’s last ten victories (competitive and friendly) have been without them conceding. Overall they have conceded just the three goals in their last thirteen games, with a clean sheet in eleven of those games.

Argentina News and Form

Argentina have not taken their strongest squad with them, notable absentees being Lionel Messi and Angel di Maria. Argentina have a W2 D1 record in their last three games but those wins were expected ones over Guatemala back at the start of September and then a 4-0 win over Iraq last Thursday. So their choice of recently friendly matches has been a bit questionable. Like Brazil, they have a clean sheet in their last three and under 2.5 goals is at 21/20 odds* (betting odds taken on October 14th, 2018 at 8:00 pm).

Argentina have won three of their last six games (D1 L2). Despite these two being such heavyweights in the world game, we are going to lean towards both teams not to score at 11/10 odds* (betting odds taken on October 14th, 2018 at 8:00 pm). It is, after all, just a friendly and the recent head to head between the two suggests that that is the way to lean.

Brazil v Argentina Head to Head

These two met last year with Argentina taking a 1-0 win on neutral soil. In the last six meetings, both competitive and friendly, Brazil are W3 D2 L1 against the Albiceleste in this fantastic rivalry. Surprisingly both teams have scored in just one of the last four meetings.

Who will win – Brazil v Argentina Predictions

Brazil look the stronger of the two and would be even if both were at full strength. However the Selecao have taken a stronger squad than their rivals are and with them in better form, we are looking at the Brazil win.

Spain v Argentina Prediction & Betting Tips – 27th March 2018

World Cup 2018 Betting

Spain v Argentina International Friendly, 27th March

After playing out a 1-1 draw with Germany, Spain gets in another tough fixture as they face up to Argentina. Spain were comfortable enough against the World Champions on Friday night and that extended their long unbeaten streak. Argentina took down Italy on Friday night without any action from Lionel Messi.

Spain v Argentina Odds*

Spain even money, Draw 23/10, Argentina* (Betting Odds taken at 04:22 p.m. on March 25th, 2018)

Spain v Argentina Betting Tips

Spain played out a 1-1 draw with Germany on Friday night to extend their great unbeaten sequence of form. They have now not been beaten since losing at Euro 2016. So they are in great form and they held their own well against the Germans with Rodrigo opening the scoring for the Spaniards in the sixth minute before Thomas Muller equalised for the Germans. The second half just petered out to either side wanting to lose. That is back to back draws that Spain have played out now after having drawn with Russia back in November. But they are unbeaten for so long it is hard to see them actually suffering a loss. In the bet365 correct score market a 1-1 draw is at 5/1 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 04:22 p.m. on March 25th, 2018). The Spaniards have five clean sheets in their last seven games and this will probably go under 2.5 goals as well.

The last time that Spain are Argentina met was back in 2010 in a friendly. Argentina cruised to a 4-1 victory on that occasion with both Lionel Messi and Sergio Aguero on the scoresheet that day. Spain had won the two previous meetings 2-1 (friendly matches) and things are just even at two wins each in the last four meetings.

Argentina eased to a 2-0 win at the Etihad Stadium on Friday night over Italy. They controlled plenty of the ball and just had to bide their time to pick off the Italians in the second half. Lionel Messi spent the match on the bench so bad news for Spain is that it probably means he will get a game here. Argentina went great through World Cup qualification but they are side stacked with talent and they were pretty patient on the ball against Italy. Under 2.5 goals at bet365 is at 8/11 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 04:22 p.m. on March 25th, 2018). They have lost just one of their last nine games played now (a friendly against Nigeria last November), winning three of their last four. Head coach Jorge Sampaoli may just be getting them going in the right direction.

Who will win – Spain v Argentina Predictions

It’s hard to know in matches like this so the draw is the most likely outcome. Spain do their usual thing, keep the ball and patiently carve out their chances. Argentina like to get on the ball as well and this could be a slower paced, friendly draw.

Argentina v Italy Prediction & Betting Tips – 23rd March 2018

International Football Betting

Argentina v Italy International Friendly, 23rd March

One of the more high profile friendly matches going off in midweek and surprisingly still, only one of these two are going to the World Cup in the summer. Argentina are the ones looking to get some momentum going ahead of the summer tournament, while Italy have to regather themselves after failing to reach the Finals.

Argentina v Italy Odds*

Argentina 19/20, Draw 23/10, Italy 3/1* (Betting Odds taken at 3:31 p.m. on March 19th, 2018).

Argentina v Italy Betting Tips

The Albiceleste weren’t great in qualification for the World Cup at all. They were really poor in putting things together overall and only Bolivia, who finished second bottom of their CONMEBOL qualification, managed to score fewer goals than Argentina did. But they got there in the end and after their usual turnover of managers, they settled on Jorge Sampaoli to finish off qualification with. He could be key because while he didn’t change a lot in trying to get Argentina over the qualification finishing line, he likes his sides to generally play a more open, attacking game. Argentina lost their last friendly, a 2-4 defeat against Nigeria in Russia last November. They will test themselves against Spain after this one in Madrid on the 27th of March.

Still, you would expect a degree of laidback-ness this being a friendly and under 2.5 goals at bet365 is at 3/5* (Betting Odds taken at 3:31 p.m. on March 19th, 2018). Argentina really didn’t give up much at the back in World Cup qualification so they can hold their own defensively. They are stacked with offensive talent and Lionel Messi is the 21/10 anytime goalscorer market for the fixture. However, Italy have a scoring ace up their sleeve in Ciro Immobile has been having a fantastic season in Serie A with Lazio. Still, if either side were to get out of this with a win you would imagine that it would be with a clean sheet and both teams not to score is at even money odds* (Betting Odds taken at 3:31 p.m. on March 19th, 2018). This game is being played at the Etihad Stadium in Manchester.

Italy’s last five games have all gone under 2.5 goals (W2 D2 L1). They lost 1-0 on aggregate to Sweden in the World Cup qualification play offs to leave themselves with nothing to do in the summer but watch. Luigi Di Biagio is the caretaker head coach at the moment, with rumours that Chelsea’s Antonio Conte is favourite to take over full time. Following this Italy will go and face England on March 27th and because they are not at the World Cup, they are getting some high profile friendly action at least. The Italians have lost their last two games against Argentina.and the two of them have met 14 times before with Argentina 6-3 ahead. This is their first friendly since 2013 when Argentina won 2-1 in Rome.

Who will win – Argentina v Italy Predictions

It will probably be a tight game and it is worth backing the draw. The most interesting aspect is just going to see how Argentina approach the game after their loss to Nigeria last time out. Will they push to be adventurous?

Brazil v Argentina Prediction & Betting Tips – 9th June 2017

International Football Betting

Brazil v Argentina International Friendly, 9th June

The two South American giants square up at the MCG in Australia on June 9th for an exhibition match. This is a chance for them to get a little action under their belt because they are on a long break until they get back to World Cup Qualifying in late August. It is a massive clash between two of the best footballing nations in the world, so will the big guns like Messi and Neymar show up for the event? Argentina are 8/5 for the win, with Brazil at 9/5 and the draw at 9/4.

Online betting site Bet365 offer great 0-0 bore draw insurance on matches which you can take advantage of. Brazil v Argentina Betting Tips

What a cracking friendly we have here at the MCG. When this was set up, it was insisted that Messi and Neymar, Barcelona team mates, would be available to play for their nations. However Brazil will be missing their talisman Neymar for this one, but Messi is set to play. Brazil still have a massively strong squad, including Liverpool’s Philippe Coutinho, Chelsea’s Willian and David Luiz, PSG defender Thiago Silva and rising Manchester City star Gabriel Jesus. It isn’t often that you will see them going up against each other outside of South America and from the two qualifying matches they have contested in World Cup 2018 qualifying, Brazil came out on top with four points from the two matches.

The last meeting was in November 2016 when Brazil romped to a 3-0 win in World Cup qualifying over the Albiceleste with Neymar on the scoresheet that day as well as Philippe Coutinho. Gabriel Jesus is a 7/4 anytime goalscorer option for Brazil with Coutinho at 13/5. On the other side of the pitch, Lionel Messi is even money outright favourite at bet365 to net in the match with Gonzalo Higuain at 7/4. There’s really never a friendly between these two and Brazil have already earned qualification for the World Cup, while Argentina have a fight on their hands to get there. Brazil have picked up a W10 D3 L1 record in their fourteen qualification matches so far, with Argentina eleven points back of them down in fifth.

But it is Argentina who are going as favourites to win this friendly in Australia, perhaps the balance being tipped by Messi’s appearance in the game. The Albiceleste have won just one of their last five games now against Brazil (W1 D1 L3) so are struggling in the head to head. Both teams to score at bet365 is a good option at 5/6 and that has happened in five of the last six meetings between the two nations. In the bet365 correct score market the shortest priced option in the 1-1 draw at 5/1 followed by an Argentina 1-0 at 13/2. A Brazil 1-0 result returns a price of 7/1. But with this being a friendly, we would go over 2.5 goals at 11/10 because defences are not going to be that switched on. Brazil are W6 in their last six games and Argentina have gone W2 D1 L3. Argentina goes on to face Russia on the 10th while Brazil takes on Australia on the 13th.

Who will win – Brazil v Argentina Predictions

Brazil to win: The Brazilians, even without Neymar have to be worth a punt in this one as they have such a strong squad that can compete. They are running in better form than the Albiceleste are and have the head to head form against them too. Brazil to win and both teams to score.
