Stoke v Brighton Premier League Preview, 10th February 3.00pm
The Potters are still in trouble in the Premier League relegation zone after suffering a loss out at Bournemouth on the weekend. Their saving grace though is that 11th placed Watford are only three points ahead of them. This is now a big game for the Potters against Brighton who got themselves out of trouble with a win over West Ham on the weekend. They would heap massive pressure on Stoke if they were to win at the Bet365.
Stoke v Brighton Betting Odds*
Stoke 5/4, Draw 11/5, Brighton 27/10* (Betting Odds taken on February 5th, 2018 at 1:56 a.m.)
Stoke News and Form
Stoke are in a mess after a loss out at Bournemouth on the weekend, going down 2-1. That leaves them with a poor four points only collected from their last six league outings now and that’s just the one victory that they have taken in their last seven league games. At home they have gone W2 D2 L1 in their last five, which on the surface of things isn’t bad, the wins coming against West Brom and Huddersfield. Overall this season at the Bet365 Stadium Stoke are W5 D3 L5. Each of Stoke’s last three league home games have gone under 2.5 goals and that option can be backed to repeat at BetVictor for 4/7 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 5th, 2018 at 1:56 a.m.). Stoke are averaging just over a goal per game this season at home, so it’s not been great, neither has their defence which has conceded an average of 1.5 goals per game and they have just the two clean sheets all season on home soil. They have shipped at least one goal in 77% of their home matches. They can still boast the worst defence in the entire league, having conceded six goals more than the nearest teams.
Brighton News and Form
The Seagulls relieved a bit of pressure with a good home win over West Ham on the weekend, taking down the Hammers 3-1. That’s four points from their last two league games now and they will want to at least get a point on the board in this one to keep Stolee off their tails in that bottom half of the table which is so tight. Brighton have only won twice away from the Amex this season in the top flight (D3 L8) so punters will still rightly be skeptical about their chances of winning. They have managed just the six away goals all season and that’s a failure to score in 69% of their road games. Both teams not to score at BetVictor is worth a look at 17/20. Of those six away games, four of them have been in the first half of matches and they have conceded 62% of their away goals after the break. There are only four teams in the top flight which have earned fewer away points than they have done this season and only four which have scored fewer goals than Brighton. The Seagulls have drawn two of their last three out on the road but have gone D2 L5 only in their last seven games on their travels. They have scored just the one goal in their last six games away from home. Can they dig out a precious point?
Stoke v Brighton Head to Head
Brighton earned a 2-2 draw at home against Stoke earlier in the season and that leaves them without a win in any of their last nine games against the Potters in all competitions (D1 L8). So the head to head record recently doesn’t bode well for the away team. The last time they met at Stoke was in the 2011 FA Cup with the Potters winning 3-0 at home. Stoke have won their last four home games against Brighton to nil and overall are on a five-match winning streak on home soil against the Seagulls.
Who will win – Stoke v Brighton Predictions
Stoke may have the chance to grind out a precious three points in this one. They are very shaky at the moment but have to raise their game and take their chances at home against opponents like this. They have done so recently and therefore back them to down the visitors.
