Spain v Croatia Nations League Preview, 11th September 7.45pm
Spain are entering a new era with head coach Luis Enrique who looks determined to shake them up. They were very direct and positive in their opening Nations League group win over England on the weekend at Wembley. Croatia warmed up with a friendly draw with Portugal last week. Spain News and Form
Spain were very good against England. They looked fresh as they enter a new era. Stalwarts of their golden generation like Gerard Pique and Andres Iniesta have gone and they have a new head coach in Luis Enrique. Immediately they looked more assertive, more direct and positive as they are moving away from the tika-taka stuff. England really had no answer to them. They are getting back to home soil after their Wembley excursion and Spain to win to nil is at 7/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.) and that’s worth a poke we feel in Spain v Croatia betting tips.
Even though they bowed out of the World Cup in the round of sixteen on penalties against Russia, Spain are undefeated since their Euro 2016 at the hands of Italy (90 minutes). So there is a lot of strength there still and now as they seem more attack-minded they appear to really be back on the right track. They face a good Croatia side here though of course and in the Paddy Power correct score market the Spain 1-0 option is at 4/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.).
Croatia News and Form
Croatia played out a draw against Portugal in an international friendly back on the 6th September with Ivan Perisic getting their goal. They did get a great deal of attacking momentum going in the match though. That is a D4 L1 record in their last five games now (90 minutes). Defensively they have been having their struggles as they haven’t taken a clean sheet in any of their last six games. So there are vulnerabilities there which may well get exposed by the Spaniards. This will be their first competitive match since their loss to France in the World Cup 2018 Final.
That loss against the French is the only defeat they have suffered since early June this year in a friendly against Brazil. Croatia are on a nine-match scoring streak at the moment however, they have only scored one goal in their last four road games played. So they were not travelling all that well ahead of the 2018 World Cup. We are therefore going to have a look at the game finishing under 2.5 goals at 11/10 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from September 7th, 2018 at 5:39 p.m.).
Spain v Croatia Head to Head
The last time these two were together was at Euro 2016 with Croatia taking a 2-1 win in the match. Spain are 3-2 up though in the overall head to head between two nations with the one draw matches in there. In four of the five wins that have appeared in this fixture, the winner has scored at least two goals.
Who will win – Spain v Croatia Predictions
Spain looked sharp and positive against England and that was a good away win for them. They can take full control of this group now with a home win. Given how well they did play against England, we have to back the home win in our Spain v Croatia predictions.
