Slavia Prague News and Form

This is the furthest that Slavia Prague have ever been in the Europa League. So this has been a bold new adventure for them and now they have to go up against one of the best sides left in the competition. In the round of sixteen in this season’s Europa League, Prague earned a thrilling upset over Sevilla, Prague earning a 4-3 aggregate win in that tie. The Czech side landed a stoppage-time winner in the second leg to progress. This is the first time that they have managed to get out of the group stage in a Europa League campaign actually, finishing runners up. They then beat Genk 4-1 on aggregate in the round of 32.

Slavia Prague have never met Chelsea before, and they have taken only one win from their previous nine UEFA games against English opponents. That win was over Leeds in the 1999/2000 UEFA Cup, but Slavia Prague still lost the tie on aggregate. That is one of three previous two-legged contests against English sides, Slavia Prague losing all of them. They are W3 D3 at home in Europe, keeping a clean sheet in four of their five played in this season’s Europa League proper.

Chelsea News and Form

Chelsea booked themselves a pretty comfortable time in the group stage of this season’s Europa League. The Blues have gone W9 D1 in their ten games played so far, after dropping just the two points in the group stage. In the round of 32, Chelsea took a 5-1 aggregate success over Swedish side Malmo. They then hammered Dynamo Kiev 8-0 on aggregate in the round of sixteen. It’s been that easy for them and things may continue to be that way for them here. Chelsea hold a W3 D3 record against Czech clubs. They have not conceded in three previous visits to Prague.

Out on their European travels this season, Chelsea are W4 D1. This is only their second appearance in the knockout phase of the Europa League. Their previous one was in the 2012/13 season when they went all the way to lift the trophy. The Blues are on an 13 match undefeated streak of form in the Europa League now and need to go two more to tie the record held by Atletico Madrid. Chelsea are undefeated in their last six away games in the competition (W5 D1) since their defeat at Rubin Kazan in their 2012/13 quarter-final

Who will win – Slavia Prague v Chelsea Predictions

Chelsea should have too much in the bag for their opponents in this one and the Blues will be looking for a good clean sheet on their travels. It is worth having a look at backing Cheslea to get the win to nil at 7/4 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from bet365 on April 7th, 2019 at 7:12 p.m.)
