Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds Championship Preview, 26th October 12.30 pm

Leeds stayed in second place in midweek thanks to a point earned away at Preston. That was the tough battle that it looked on paper as if it was going to be. There was a big move by Sheffield Wednesday though who moved up to third in the table with a win, leaving them sitting just one point behind the Whites. Sheffield Wednesday News and Form

Sheffield Wednesday earned a 1-0 home win over Stoke in midweek as they climbed up the table. That is back to back home wins that the Owls have taken and both were by a 1-0 scoreline. Granted they were against teams in the bottom six, but they got the job done. The Owls are W4 D1 L1 at home this season in the Championship and all four of those successes were with a clean sheet.

It may be worth noting that all four of their home wins have happened against sides currently in the bottom seven. Wednesday have suffered just one defeat in their last seven league games played now (W4 D2) so they are in form. It is just three home goals in total that the Owls have given up this season. They have picked up a clean sheet in two-thirds of their home games. Saturday’s opponents Leeds are the only team in the division with a better defensive record.

Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds Head to Head

Leeds earned four points against the Owls last season
The Owls are unbeaten in two at home against Leeds (W1 D1)
Both teams have scored in two of the last seven meetings
Sheffield Wednesday are W2 D1 L1 in their last four against The Whites

Leeds News and Form

Their point out at Preston in midweek was a decent result for Leeds in a difficult game. That followed up their 1-0 home success over Birmingham last weekend. Leeds are winless in three away games now (D1 L2) so have been struggling a bit in that regard after having won their opening four road fixtures of the season. Leeds have only failed to score in one league game this season, which was a defeat at Charlton at the end of September.

Leeds have tallied up 12 goals away from home at an average of 1.7 per game. Their defence has been superb, conceding only five times on their travels. That has been a clean sheet in 43% of their road games. In total from their 13 league games played this season, Leeds have only conceded eight times. So this may not be a high-scoring match considering how strong the defence of the Owls is as well. All four of the away wins that Leeds have taken have been by a margin of at least two goals, however.

Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds Tips & Odds

Who will win – Sheffield Wednesday v Leeds Predictions

The Owls haven’t delivered a win against anyone other than current bottom seven teams. So this is going to be a serious test for them. They may not have enough for the victory but they are strong enough in defence to stick in there for a point. Draw.
