Scunthorpe News and Form
The Iron have a good W4 D5 L3 record for the season in League One which sees them sitting around midtable. Their home form is well worth looking at though as they are undefeated in four at Glanford Park, having lost just one league game there this season (W2 D3 L1). They have won their last two on home soil, taking down Shrewsbury and Charlton so have that going for them. They have scored at least two goals in three of their last four on home soil as well.
Over 2.5 goals at 4/7 odds* (betting odds taken on October 10th, 2018 at 2:23 pm) makes a lot of sense for the game, especially with the visiting Posh scoring so well this season. There have been an average of over four goals per game in matches at Glanford Park this season so goals are forecast here. The Iron have taken just the one clean sheet at home in the division so far, conceding fourteen goals in six home games, which isn’t great at all. They have only been trailing once at halftime at home this season.
Peterborough News and Form
Peterborough came storming out of the blocks this season in League One establishing themselves as one of the early favourites for promotion. They took a W6 D1 record from their opening seven games, but things have just started to quieten down for them. They are now just W1 D2 L2 in their last five games so this is a good time for Scunthorpe to be hosting them. Last weekend the Posh were smashed 4-0 at home against Barnsley and they have looked more and more defensively fragile.
Peterborough have conceded at least two goals in each for their last six league outings now. Despite them holding a W5 D1 away record this season, they have to be vulnerable here. They are the top scorers in the league with 28 goals in 12 games played but they have conceded more goals than anyone else in the top eleven currently. Both teams to score is an obvious option at 1/2 odds* (betting odds taken on October 10th, 2018 at 2:23 pm). The Posh have averaged over three goals per away game this season and 63% of their away goals have come in the second half of matches.
Scunthorpe v Peterborough Head to Head
Scunthorpe got four points out of the two league meetings with Peterborough last season and the Iron are on a five-match undefeated streak against them (W3 D2). Scunthorpe are W3 D1 L1 from their five previous League One home fixtures against the Posh. Both teams have scored in each of the last three meetings.
Who will win – Scunthorpe v Peterborough Predictions
It’s been a good season from the Posh but with just one win in five, they are worth opposing. The Iron have been good on home soil and could well have enough about them to snatch a big three points in the fixture.
