Rochdale v Tottenham FA Cup Prediction & Betting Tips – 18th February 2018

Rochdale v Tottenham FA Cup, 18th February 4.00pm

Rochdale pulled off a bit of a cup upset in the last round as they took out Championship side Millwall in a replay at Spotland. Dale’s pitch has come under some scrutiny though as it was heavily sanded for that game against Millwall and Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino has been a bit worried about the safety of his players. Tottenham head out on the road as the favourites still to win this tie at the first time of asking.

Rochdale v Tottenham FA Cup Betting Tips

League One strugglers Rochdale, who are staring at relegation this season, kept their FA Cup dreams alive with a replay win over Championship side Millwall in the last round. The replay was at Spotland in a heavily sanded pitch, poor conditions because of shocking weather around Greater Manchester. They got a bit of a dream tie for the fifth round as they welcome Premier League side Tottenham to their backyard and they will do everything they can to make it as uncomfortable for the visitors as possible in the game. Dale won’t really have been helped out in their efforts here by having had to go through a midweek league game which was a bit poorly timed. Anyway, on home soil they have won just one of their last six games (D3 L2) and that win was their replay success over Millwall in the last round. This will be the sixth game that they have played in the FA Cup this season and just their second on home soil. They have faced Premier League opposition already this season, losing 4-0 at Stoke back in August in the EFL Cup. Over 2.5 goals at BetVictor for this game returns odds of 4/9* (Betting Odds taken on February 11th, 2018 at 11:37 p.m.)

This will be the first-ever meeting between Rochdale and Tottenham. Spurs are naturally the favourites and they are going along in some pretty hot form at the moment. They took a 1-0 win over rivals Arsenal in the Premier League North London derby on the weekend and that moves them to a thirteen match unbeaten stretch of form in all competitions. They had an easy time in beating AFC Wimbledon at Wembley in the third round of the FA Cup before needing a replay to get past League Two side Newport in the fourth round. The Lilywhites are actually on a four match sequence of drawn away matches at the moment after their gritty 2-2 draw at Juventus in midweek. They have won just two of their last nine out on the road (D5 L2) so will there be a window of opportunity for the Dale to cause an upset? If so it is probably a very, very narrow one. Tottenham have scored in each of their last ten away games and in the BetVictor correct score mark a Tottenham 2-0 and Tottenham 3-0 are both at 11/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken on February 9th, 2018 at 11:37 p.m.). It would be a major shock if the Lilywhites were upset at Spotland in this one and even though away days like this can be tricky, the class of Tottenham will be expected to win out.

Who will win – Rochdale v Tottenham FA Cup Predictions

Spurs struggled a bit out on the road in the last round of the FA Cup but they should be a bit more comfortable in this one. They probably learned their lesson well from their struggles against Newport and can’t see off Dale and probably what will be a low-scoring affair. Back Tottenham to win to nil.
