Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Prediction & Betting Tips – 1st May 201829th April 2018 / lee
Real Madrid v Bayern Munich UEFA Champions League, 1st May 7.45pm
Bayern Munich wasted a hatful of chances to have pretty much put this tie to bed after the first leg. However, they managed to end up losing at home to Real Madrid 2-1 somehow, with the Spaniards not even remotely playing well. With the injuries stacking up against the Germans as well now have they let themselves too much to do as they may a trip to the Bernabeu? Last time they went they produced a 2-1 win after losing 2-1 at home but lost in extra time. Can they earn revenge?

Real Madrid News and Form
Real Madrid will be defending a 2-1 advantage at home for the second leg of a Champions League. That was how it was a year ago at the quarter-final stage. Real Madrid lLost that second leg 2-1 (90 minutes) but powered through in extra time. That is six straight wins that Real Madrid have recorded over Bayern Munich now and in that spell of games have scored 15 goals and have conceded five. Real Madrid are in the semi finals for the eighth consecutive season and this is their fourth two-legged tie in seven seasons against Bayern, with the Spaniards 2-1 up. But there is still an air of caution for them because they will remember their home loss against Bayern last season and their heavy 3-1 defeat at home by Juventus in the last round of this year’s competition. Real Madrid haven’t been great at the back this season at all and both teams to score at bet365 makes for a reasonable place to start at 4/11 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 11:45 a.m. on April 26th, 2018) as Bayern created so many chances in that first leg.
For the first time in a Champions League game, this season Cristiano Ronaldo failed to score but he has seven goals in his last four games against Bayern and will once again go as the first goalscorer favourite in the match. The loss to Juventus in the last round was their only defeat in their last 30 European games (W21 D6) and they have won 34 of their last 41 home games in the Champions League (D5 L2) which is a brilliant record. Madrid’s home record against Bundesliga clubs is W25 D5 L3. Madrid’s record in two-legged ties with German clubs in UEFA competition is W17 L8 and to back them up even further, the Spaniards have won each of their last six ties against German opposition. Just once from 33 occasions have they lost a tie after winning the first leg away from home. Even though they haven’t been playing well, they have been grinding out results and at the end of the day that is all that matters.
Bayern Munich News and Form
It gets tough for Bayern now. Just twice before in the history of the UEFA Champions League has a team lost the first leg of a tie at home to turn things around and win that tie. The injuries are really stacked up against them now losing both Jerome Boateng and Arjen Robben in the first leg. They aren’t at full strength for this now and given that they were the better of the two teams in the first leg, the wind will have been knocked out of their sails after having lost. They created a wealth of chances and could have been free and clear but they were just wasteful and even Robert Lewandowski didn’t bring his shooting boots to their party. Bayern’s away record against Spanish clubs is not great at W7 D5 L15. There is something of a big uphill struggle ahead for them in Spain in midweek.
But the Germans have to come out and find a couple of goals but in the bet365 correct score market it is a Real Madrid 2-1 which is in at 8/1 odds with only the 1-1 draw shorter at 7/1* (Betting Odds taken at 11:45 a.m. on April 26th, 2018). Five times before the Germans have lost the first leg of a tie and home and they have managed to turn around two of those in their UEFA competition history. They do however have a great penalty shootout record in Europe if they can get this back level. They are W5 D1 in European shoot-outs. On the road in Europe, the Bundesliga side have taken seven wins in their last fourteen road games, losing five of those. They are on a four-match winning streak on their travels so can look at that as a positive ahead of Tuesday’s trial. Arturo Vidal, Manuel Neuer, Kingsley Coman, Jerome Boateng, Arjen Robben…the list of injuries have really started to pile up for them now. Do they have enough depth to recover from having suffered their first home defeat in all competitions this season and turn this tie around?
Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Head to Head
There have been 25 previous fixtures between the two clubs, a record in UEFA competitions. This is the seventh time that they have contested a European Cup semi-final as well. Overall they have contested 11 previous knockout converses and Real Madrid are 6-5 ahead. From the previous 25 games contested between the two giants, Real Madrid are 12-11 ahead. Both teams have scored in seven of the last nine meetings and six of the last eight games between them have ended in a 2-1 scoreline (at 90 minutes).
Who will win – Real Madrid v Bayern Munich Predictions
Real Madrid somehow keep getting things done. They were lucky to survive that first leg and it is a bit of a mystery still how they got out of there with a win in the bag as well. That is an advantage they have and given the way things are going for them this season, they are probably worth backing to dig in there and qualify with Bayern not at full strength.
