Reading v QPR Championship, 12th January 7.45pm
With FA Cup adventures over for both of these on the weekend, it is straight back down to league business for Reading and QPR on Thursday night. The Royals will be hoping to continue their good winning streak in the second tier and put some pressure on the top two. They start in third place, lofty heights that QPR can only dream about at the moment. Rangers are closer to the bottom of the table than they are to the top, but they have given themselves a great boost recently with back to back wins recorded in the Championship. Can they pull off a big away day against a strong promotion-contender? Reading are 3/4 for the win, with the draw at 13/5 and QPR at 7/2.

Reading v QPR Betting Tips
Reading will be looking to shake off their defeat at Old Trafford against Manchester United on the weekend in the FA Cup. The Royals were eased aside 4-0 by the Red Devils, but this is really where it counts for Reading, back in the league. They need to claim three points in this one to close the gap on second placed Newcastle to just the three points and that would start making the Magpies sweat a bit. The Royals are on a three match winning streak in the Championship and really since the back end of October last year, they have been motoring. They have gone W9 D0 L2 in their last eleven Championship matches. While they are still conceding goals on a regular basis, they are managing to outpunch opposition still, as shown in their 3-2 win at Bristol City on January 2nd. Both teams to score in this one with QPR at 365 is a price of 11/10.
But punters will probably be looking under 2.5 goals on this one as there haven’t been a lot of goals between these in recent league meetings. Only one of the last eight league encounters between these two have produced over the 2.5 goal line. Three of the last five meetings (and each of the last two) have been settled by a 1-1 scoreline. A 1-1 correct score punt on this Thursday night game is a quote of 6/1 while Reading sneaking it 1-0 will fetch the same price. At home this season in the Championship, the Royals have been pretty immense in putting up a W8 D3 L1 record and they are on a five match winning streak there since a loss against Aston Villa back in mid October. The Royals have scored at least two goals in each of those six wins incidentally and in the anytime goalscorer market they have Yann Kermorgant at a price of 8/5 with Garath McCleary at 7/4.
QPR have seen some light recently with having put back to back victories on the board in the Championship. That snapped a horrid six match losing streak that they were on in the league. Their away win at Wolves on New Year’s Ever snapped a run of D1 L4 that they were on away from home with just the one goal having been scored in that five match sequence. Four of QPR’s last five wins in the Championship have all been by a 2-1 scoreline. Away from home this season they have gone W4 D2 L6 in total and they have only averaged exactly one goal per game on their travels. They can’t carry the same kind of offensive threat that Reading can and indeed, only Wigan have scored fewer goals than QPR have managed in the Championship this season. QPR are without a clean sheet in any of their last 13 games in all options and that lack of scoring and weak defence, may ultimately be their downfall in this one.
Who will win – Reading v QPR Predictions
QPR neither have the defensive strengths nor the firepower to really suggest that they are going to take down the Royals. Their recent wins have come against sides in the bottom half of the table and they have a lot to prove to punters that they are worth backing against a strong side. They did hold out to 1-1 draw with the Royals earlier in the season but Reading should have enough to edge this one in a low scoring game. The 1-0 on the Royals has appeal in the correct score market.
