Norwich v Man City Betting Preview
Things went wrong for both of these two on Boxing Day, Manchester City losing big ground in the title race, while Chris Hughton’s Canaries picked up their second defeat in a row after their good long unbeaten stretch. So both desperately need a win for different reasons, the impetus of course should all be on the reigning champions, but this is not an easy match for them as they are short on confidence and striking form. Can the Canaries take advantage and heap more pressure on Roberto Mancini?

Norwich v Man City Recommended Bet:
Things have just gotten a little sticky for Norwich at the moment, suffering back to back defeats. That was after a tremendous ten match unbeaten streak. Defeats against West Brom and Chelsea have arrested their progress though, but they did battle well at Carrow Road against Chelsea, especially considering the visitors had clinically thumped Aston Villa 8-0 in their previous match. So the defence of Norwich looks pretty organised and strong at the moment, and it could have enough to frustrate the champions, especially in the department of being physical. It could disrupt City’s flow. Norwich’s Boxing Day defeat was their only game without finding the back of the net in their last eight, so while not prolific, they have been in form up to. At home this season, Norwich have scored 10 goals and conceded nine and they could have another long defensive afternoon. They didn’t really muster a shot in anger against Chelsea though, and that could be the thing which prevents them getting all three points, a lack of scoring power. Norwich have picked up exactly the same amount of points as Man City have since November 1st this year, 18 from ten games. A point out of this game is going to be through a big defensive effort and they will have memories of this fixture last season, where they were thumped 6-1 by a rampant City. They are better than that and could well frustrate City for a point.
City have now won just three of their last nine matches, a poor run of form by their standards. A goal from former player Adam Johnson sunk them at the Stadium of Light on Boxing Day, leaving them seven points adrift of leaders Manchester United. So it hasn’t been an easy December for City in the Premier League, losing two, drawing one and winning just two of their five played in the month. Still, they have suffered just the one defeat on the road this season, taking four wins and four draws from their other games. They have struggled for goals on the road, recording just twelve at a rate of 1.33 per game. Defensively they have been good though, conceding at a rate of just 0.78 per game, which is excellent. They are stuttering in the final third of the pitch at the moment, Mario Balotelli, Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez all netting just one each in City’s last six Premier League matches. At this point of last season, the City forwards had netted 31 goals between them, this term they have mustered up just 20. The Citizens have shown a lot of character this season, but if they lose again here then it could be panic button time at the Etihad, falling back into the shadow of the Red Devils. On a more positive note though, Man City have won five and lost none of the last six meetings against the Canaries and Sergio Aguero netted three times in the two meetings last season. Their four away wins this season have all come from when they were level at half time, so it is going to be worth looking at a Draw/Man City Half Time/Full Time bet for a price of 3/1 at online bookmaker Paddy Power. City have won on their last two visits to Carrow Road.

First Goalscorer options are interesting for this one, because City have all the big guns like Sergio Aguero and Carlos Tevez who are trading as 13/5 favourites in the market. But they are misfiring at the moment, so could Grant Holt at 8/1 be worth a look?
