Mexico v Sweden Prediction & Betting Tips – World Cup 201826th June 2018 / lee
Mexico v Sweden World Cup 2018, 27th June – 3.00 p.m
Mexico have a chance to win the group and they will do that with a point in this one against the Swedes. If on the off chance that Germany doesn’t beat South Korea in their final game, then Mexico would qualify anyway. As for Sweden, they had their hearts broken in a dramatic late defeat against Germany, but if they can better whatever Germany do in the final round of group stage matches, they will go through.

Mexico v Sweden Betting Tips
Mexico are in a strong position in Group F as they only need a point against Sweden to win the group. Imagine what that would do for their already high confidence. They have been playing some really positive stuff which has been a joy to watch. They opened with that superb win over the reigning World champions Germany and El Tri were great value for that success as well. They will just have to watch their step in this game though because if they lose and Germany beat South Korea it would leave Mexico, Germany and Sweden all on six points and then it will come down to the goal difference. Mexico though do look confident in their own abilities and a Mexico 1-0 result is at 13/2 odds in the bet365 correct score market* (Betting Odds were taken from June 24th, 2018 at 11:55 p.m.).
Sweden have looked a bit one-dimensional and because of the fact that Mexico will just need to watch out for things at the back, it looks likely that this game will go under 2.5 goals which is a 13/20 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 24th, 2018 at 11:55 p.m.). Mexico have done a lot of good work at this tournament and will not want it to come unravelled at this point. Mexico are on a three-match winning streak and they have lost just one of their last six played. They have been overall one of the better performers at the 2018 World Cup and have plenty of pace in their forwards. It’s not too hard to imagine them, with their speed catching Sweden out on the break.
Sweden have won just one of their last six games losing three of those, so they are not particularly in any kind of form whatsoever. Sweden have produced just two goals in their last five games played as well and that is why we are not backing this to be a particularly high-scoring game. The situation for Sweden is this. They will be guaranteed to qualify if they better Germany’s result against South Korea. That’s basically it and because Germany are expected to be comfortable against South Korea, Sweden are going to have to do at least try to come out of their shell at some point in this game. The problem is though against the pace of Mexico that could leave them vulnerable. After opening with a 1-0 win over South Korea, Sweden getting their goal from the penalty spot, they did have Germany on the ropes in their second group stage fixture.
Sweden were 1-0 up against Germany at half-time but ended up losing the game deep into stoppage time. So they went from having booked qualification spot to the knockout stages to now having a fight on their hands to get there, all within the space of that second half. The Swedes looked a threat in the game though primarily by playing long balls into the heart of the Germany defence. They can only approach the game assuming that Germany are going to win their respective fixture, but you do wonder if Sweden have enough about them to make a big impact against a positive minded side. Both teams not to score is at 4/5 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 24th, 2018 at 11:55 p.m.). If Sweden were in better form, they may be fancied more but it’s hard looking at a side who have just a W1 D4 L3 record in their last eight and expecting them to win.
Mexico v Sweden Head to Head
This will be the fourth meeting between the two sides and Sweden are actually 2-0 up with the one drawn match there. Mexico have never scored a goal against Sweden. Their first meeting was a World Cup fixture at the 1958 World Cup with Sweden winning 3-0 and the following two, the most recent of which was in 2009, were friendly games.
Who will win – Mexico v Sweden Predictions
We are going to roll with Mexico for this one just because they have been so positive in getting on the front foot. Sweden look a bit one dimensional and while they are not going to be easy to beat, they have to try and open up a bit and Mexico’s pace can pick them off.
