Man Utd v Olympiakos Betting Preview
The Red Devils were pretty efficient in their group, showing some decent form in among their Premier League troubles. Their efforts were well rewarded here with a pretty easy looking path through to the quarter finals. Greek side Olympiakos shouldn’t offer too much resistance to the attacking power that United can field.

Man Utd v Olympiakos Betting Tips:
To kick things off with, the Red Devils have a proud record going against Greek sides, having never lost to one, ever. They were pretty solid through their group and impressive when it mattered most against Bayer Leverkusen, with the Red Devils winning their group with a match to spare. Four times in their history they have gone up against Olympiakos, and United have won all of them. In fact, three of those four meetings have been won by United with a clean sheet as well. So it could well be worth looking at a United To Win To Nil wager for a price of 2/1 with Paddy Power. That’s always a bit of a gamble though on an away side. Still, in those four previous meetings with Olympiakos, United scored 12 and conceded just the two.
United were defensively sound in the group stage, conceding just three goals on their way to topping the group. That is the joint best defensive record along with Chelsea and Atletico Madrid. David Moyes’s men have ran up clean sheets in their last four Champions League matches too. It is those kind of defensive strengths away from home which should get them through this comfortably. The last time that United made it to the quarter finals of the Competition was back in 2010/11. While Wayne Rooney had been suffering something of a drought until last weekend, the England man has scored two goals and assisted three in his last five Champions League matches. He is trading at a price of 7/4 in the anytime goalscorer market, while striker partner Robin van Persie is up at Even money. Against Greek sides, United’s record reads W8 D2 L0.
Olympiakos got to the round of sixteen by the skin of their teeth, finishing level on points with Benfica, both three points back of winners Paris St Germain. Only a better head to head against Benfica saw them squeeze through. So can they put a dent in United’s great record against Greek sides? Well, there are always positives to be found, and Olympiakos haven’t lost any of their last five home matches against sides from England. Manchester United were actually the last English side to beat them at home, back in 2002. Olympiakos too have won six of their last eight Champions League home matches, scoring in each one of those games too. Could be worth considering a Both Teams To Score wager then for a price of 5/6 with Paddy Power.
The 2009/10 season was the last time that Olympiacos was in the round of sixteen, but they carry some great form into into it this time, winning their last six matches in a row in all competitions. Their strengths are definitely going to be at home in this one, and you don’t exactly expect United to put in a swashbuckling performance on the road. So maybe an Olympiakos – Draw Double Result for a price of 3/4 with Paddy Power is viable. On home soil in last season’s group stage, they beat Arsenal, making it three wins in a row at home against English sides. Overall, their home record against English sides is W5 D3 L3. Not terrible, and riding back to back wins to close the group stage out with, then they could give United a difficult evening.
Whatever happens out in Greece, you would expect United to make it through to the quarter finals over the two legs. Olympiakos have been pretty strong at home, but United do have world class firepower. Could be one of those dull away nights, and a Man United Draw No Bet for Coverage is value at 1/2 with Paddy Power.
