Manchester City v Bristol City EFL Cup Prediction & Betting Tips – 9th January 20188th January 2018 / lee
Manchester City v Bristol City EFL Cup, 9th January 8.00pm
Bristol City have been the stars of the EFL Cup this season having already knocked out four Premier League clubs, including reigning champions Manchester United. Now they get a shot against the very best of the best as they try and handle the Citizens. Manchester City are the outright favourites to get their hands on the cup and they will be expected to land a big first leg lead in this one. Manchester City are 1/8 odds on favourites, with the draw at 15/2 and Bristol City at 16/1* (Betting Odds taken January 7th, 2018 at 7.00 pm)
Manchester City v Bristol City EFL Cup Betting Tips
This was the best draw that Manchester City could have received for the semi-final of the EFL Cup because they get a run out against the lowest-side ranked left in the competition. You would imagine that even after having seen Bristol City knocked out Manchester United, that City won’t be remotely worried about themselves being upset in this one. Manchester City eased to a comfortable 4-1 home win over Burnley in the third round of the FA Cup on the weekend after being 1-0 down surprisingly at half time against the Clarets. That took their winning streak at home to eight straight games across all competitions but they have only taken one clean sheet in their last six games at the Etihad, and both teams to score is a 6/5 quote at William Hill* (Betting Odds taken January 7th, 2018 at 7.00 pm).
There should be plenty of goals going on again as Pep Guardiola will likely send out a strong side at this stage of proceedings. Over 3.5 goals at William Hill* (Betting Odds taken January 7th, 2018 at 7.00 pm) is a decent 23/25 poke for the match up. Manchester City alone have averaged just over three goals per game in their last fourteen matches at the Etihad and seven of those went over that 3.5 goal line. They will be taking on a Bristol City side who are not goal shy, but who also don’t boast the greatest of defences. Sergio Aguero netted a brace in the FA Cup on the weekend and he is the first goalscorer favourite with Raheem Sterling, who has six goals in his last six home games, a solid anytime goalscorer option. Manchester City to win and both teams to score is a decent option to consider for Tuesday’s game.
Bristol City knocked off Manchester United 2-1 at Ashton Gate in the last round to set up this semi-final duel. They had gone past Stoke, Crystal Palace and Watford before knocking out the Red Devils. Their form has taken a bit of a dive recently though with three straight defeats, losing back to back games in the Championship before getting dumped out of the FA Cup against Watford on the weekend. They have shipped ten goals in their last three games. The Robins have scored 23 goals in 15 away games in all competitions this season and have only lost three times in all competitions away from Ashton Gate this term. They are without a clean sheet in any of their last five away games though and so they will be likely to concede here. They did rest players for their FA Cup tie on the weekend so they will be stronger for this one and the impressive Bobby Reid is at 5/2* (Betting Odds taken January 7th, 2018 at 7.00 pm) to get himself on the scoresheet.
Who will win – Manchester City v Bristol City EFL Cup Predictions
Minicabster City should produce well enough on home soil against the Championship side to be comfortable in this one. The Robins have just lost their way a little bit and a 3-0 correct score on Manchester City for the game looks pretty appealing.
