Iceland v Switzerland UEFA Nations League Preview, 15th October 7.45pm
Iceland nearly sprung a huge shock in midweek in beating World Champions France in an international friendly. They had to settle for a draw in the end, but it was a much better performance than we have seen for a while from them. Switzerland will want a win out of this after narrowly losing to Belgium on the weekend. Read our Iceland v Switzerland betting tips for more.

Iceland News and Form
Iceland are still struggling for form. They met France in a friendly on Thursday and surprisingly, even to them it seemed, found themselves 2-0 up in the fixture with a half hour to play. They couldn’t hold out as they conceded two goals in the final five minutes of the game for a draw. But it was at least a much better effort from them. They have suffered a 6-0 loss against Switzerland and a 3-0 loss against Belgium so far in the Nations League. They have been struggling for goals and we can’t help but still look at both teams not to score at even money* (betting odds taken on October 12th, 2018 at 3:17 pm).
So they are staring down the barrel of relation in the Nations League group. Iceland had failed to score in three of their last five games now so haven’t been great in front of goal. The amount of goals that they have conceded recently points to a big problem. They haven’t taken a clean sheet since a 2-0 win over Kosovo in their final World Cup 2018 group stage qualification match. That’s a thirteen without a clean sheet and they have conceded at least two goals in nine of their last eleven. A Switzerland 2-0 correct score is at 15/2 odds* (betting odds taken on October 12th, 2018 at 3:17 pm).
Switzerland News and Form
Switzerland opened their Nations League account with a fantastic 6-0 drubbing of Iceland. They then suffered a 2-1 setback against group favourites Belgium on the weekend, away from home. So in order to keep this group alive, they are going to want to bank three points out of this before facing the Belgians back on home soil later in the group. A narrow loss against Belgium is no shame at all of course but the Swiss have now lost their last two games by a one-goal margin and three of their last four (W1).
That’s a little surprising because they had lost just one of their previous thirteen games (competitive and friendly) so we’re shaping up well. But the Swiss look favourites for this rematch against Iceland for it we are looking under 2.5 goals at 10/11 odds* (betting odds taken on October 12th, 2018 at 3:17 pm). This is all about the win and not so much the performance. Switzerland have just the one clean sheet in their last seven games, but that was against Iceland. They are W3 D1 L2 in their last six away from home (not counting the World Cup 2018).
Iceland v Switzerland Head to Head
Switzerland piled up a massive 6-0 win over Iceland when they met earlier in the Nations League group. Their only two previous meetings before that were during 2014 World Cup qualifying. Switzerland took a 2-0 away win before a thrilling 4-4 draw between them in the second fixture.
Who will win – Iceland v Switzerland Predictions
We still fancy Switzerland to get the job done. They made mincemeat of Iceland last time out and while it won’t likely be as big of a win for them, the visitors can still prevail. Away win and likely under 2.5 goals.
