Huddersfield v Brighton Premier League Preview, 9th December 3.00pm
This should be an interesting scrap between the two newly promoted sides. Huddersfield are slipping rapidly back towards the relegation zone as they have put a four match losing streak on the board. They are just struggling at the moment and this could be an important home game for them. The Seagulls are just two points better off and have won just one of their last six. The Terriers are 13/8 to take the home win, with Brighton at 17/10 and the draw at 11/5.
Huddersfield News and Form
The Terriers are hovering just above the drop zone in the Premier League having strung together a four match losing streak. So they are out of form and struggling for a bit of confidence at the moment. They have been shipping goals badly as well in that losing streak, totalling thirteen against them in that sequence and scoring just the one themselves. So the wheels are coming off, but they have won two of their last three home games if that’s any consolation for them, beating Manchester United and then West Brom. Overall the Terriers are W3 D2 L2 for the season at the John Smith’s Stadium and their recent loss there against Man City was only by a one goal margin. The margins in this one are probably going to be very narrow and under 1.5 goals at Ladbrokes is worth considering at 11/8. The Terriers have failed to score in three of their last four league outings now and in total have scored just the six home goals in the top flight. Only 43% of their home games have gone over 2.5 goals. 67% of their home goals have cropped up in the first half of matches and they have scored the opening goal in five of their seven home games which is fantastic.
Brighton News and Form
Brighton have been struggling for wins recently, but they have been showing far more resilient than Huddersfield have. The Seagulls have lost just two of their last eight league games, going down against Manchester United and Liverpool only in that sequence, which is totally forgivable. Out on the road, there were on a two match winning streak on their travels, having won at West Ham and then Swansea before they lost narrowly at Old Trafford against Man Utd. Their overall away form so far this season is W2 D1 L4. They have totalled just the five goals on their travels this season and only 29% of their road games have managed to get up and above 2.5 goals. Five of the seven goals that they have conceded on their travels have all been in the second half of matches and they have opened the scoring three times in their seven away games. They have not lost an away game this season by a margin bigger than two goals. In the Ladbrokes correct score market, the 1-1 draw is the shortest priced option at a pretty short price of 4/1 while the 0-0 draw is a mark back at 5/1. Glenn Murray is their top scorer this season and three of his five goals have been away from home and he is the 9/4 anytime goalscorer favourite.
Huddersfield v Brighton Head to Head
The two, of course, were together in the Championship last season and they each won their respective home game. Things are really tight between them as five of the last eight have ended in a draw with Brighton winning two of the other three. On home soil, Huddersfield are unbeaten in their last four home games against Brighton, three of those fixtures ending in a 1-1 draw.
Who will win – Huddersfield v Brighton Predictions
This has a draw written all over it. The Seagulls are defensively stronger than the Terriers are and should be able to hold their own. They would be happy enough not to lose this one and Huddersfield may not have enough in them to get the three points which would see them climb above the Seagulls.
