Liverpool’s away form in the Champions League will once again be tested here. They have already failed on the road against Napoli in this campaign. But they should have an easier time as they go up against Genk who are already starting to look out of their depth. Read our Genk v Liverpool betting tips for more.

Genk News and Form

Genk are going to have to produce a big European night to keep themselves ticking over in this campaign. They’ve taken just one point from their opening two games, and that point was a good one to be fair, as they held Napoli to a 0-0 draw. That followed up their heavy defeat in their opening game of the campaign, a 6-2 loss at Salzburg.

That has left them still looking for the first-ever Champions League win, having failed at their previous 14 attempts now. They have conceded ten goals in their last three European games still, despite that 0-0 draw against Napoli on match day two. The Belgian Champions earned a D4 L2 record on their last Champions League appearance which was back in 2002/03.

They have lost only two of their 12 previous Champions League home games (W4 D6) which includes qualification matches. Genk are currently on a six-match unbeaten streak of European home form. They have also scored in all but two of their last 32 European matches. In their last 17 European home games, Genk have lost just once (W12 D4).

Liverpool News and Form

Liverpool have lost each of their last four away games in the group stage of the Champions League. It was a rough time they had last season and they started this away campaign with a loss at Napoli. This should be a much easier game though. But still, the numbers say that Liverpool are not a form team away from home in the group stage, having taken only a W1 D3 L6 record in their last ten such matches.

The Reds lifted the Champions League title last season and posted a W8 D1 L4 record, winning six of their last nine European fixtures (D1 L1). There is a caveat to that though as they have lost seven of their last 11 UEFA competition matches outside of England. This is the first time they have been back to Belgium since 2008 when they played out a 0-0 draw with Standard Liege.

Liverpool have won four of their last five games against Belgian opposition (D1). They have only lost one such previous game against a Belgian team and that was back in 1978. Liverpool’s overall record is W10 D2 L1 against Belgian teams. Given the stature of the club at the moment, they surely can’t slip up against a side searching for the first-ever Champions League win, can they?

Who will win – Genk v Liverpool Predictions

Liverpool can secure what is becoming a rare away win in Europe in this fixture. Genk haven’t looked a strong side at all and the attacking threat of the Reds should carry them across the line fairly comfortably. Liverpool to win to nil.
