It is a battle between Europe for the 2018 World Cup and the first semi-final will feature France v Belgium. This has the potential for being a very open and competitive game but this is the semi-finals of the World Cup and these fixtures are, more often than not, pretty tight and cagey affairs. But you do have two sides here who like to get their foot on the ball and drive forward. Read our France v Belgium betting tips for more insights into this World Cup 2018 semi-final.

France v Belgium Betting Tips

France have looked a different side in the knockout stages of the 2018 World Cup to the one that they were in the group stage. They have found their feet and look like a pretty tight unit at the moment. It has been tough South American opposition that they have been up against in the knockout stages, first taking down Argentina in a 4-3 thriller and then in the quarter finals, they had things a bit more comfortable as they collected a 2-0 win over Uruguay. The French were never really under any threat in their quarter final match. So they seem to be up and running well now and they are in good sight of the Final. We are actually going over 2.5 goals for our France v Belgium betting tip which isn’t something that we would normally do for a semi-final, but it is at 23/20 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from July 6th, 2018 at 11:22 p.m.) and we can’t pass that up.

France have racked up three clean sheets in their last four games now, but they are facing a Belgian side who are so dangerous on the break that we see goals in this one. Both teams to score is at 19/20 odds as well* (Betting Odds were taken from July 6th, 2018 at 11:22 p.m.). That also looks a pretty solid betting tip for the France v Belgium game. Antoine Griezmann got his second goal of the tournament as he got France’s second against Uruguay. It was more down to a keeper error than anything else but Griezmann played his best game of the tournament in that quarter-final. They need him coming good at the right time. France are undefeated in their last nine games now, winning seven of those. They have lost just one of their last sixteen. They have just looked better and better as the tournament has gone on and have the squad to deal with this deep run.

Belgium saved their best for when they needed it most. After struggling to get past Japan in the round of sixteen, they weren’t given a lot of hope against Brazil in the quarter finals. However, boss Bobby Martinez deployed a new set of tactics, shuffled his formation and line up and it worked to a tee. He threw Kevin de Bruyne further forward and with the running of Romelu Lukaku and Eden Hazard, Brazil simply didn’t know what was coming at them. Lukaku had a standout game and is a good anytime goalscorer option for this game. Belgium are second favourites to win the World Cup now behind the French and if they play as they did against Brazil then they will take some beating. Their first-half display was full of attacking intent and menace and when it came to defending deeper in the second half, they dug in there. Their big players all turned up for the big show and the question is, will they be able to do live up to those same standards? Belgium performances can be a bit hit and miss and France will know what is now going to be coming at them. Belgium are 11/10 odds To Qualify* (Betting Odds were taken from July 6th, 2018 at 11:22 p.m.)

We do see the French as being the stronger of the two sides and Belgium’s defence at times in this tournament has looked a bit shaky. They have just the one clean sheet in their last four at this tournament and that was against England’s second string. Twelve of Belgium’s last fifteen games have gone over 2.5 goals so that is that stat to back up our earlier betting tip. The Red Devils are on a seven-match winning streak which is fantastic and they have scored at least three goals in all but two of those wins. But that is the kind of streak that you are just expecting to see snapped. In the bet365 correct score market a France 2-1 option is at 10/1 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from July 6th, 2018 at 11:22 p.m.) and that makes for one of our leading France v Belgium betting tips. There is very likely going to be goals at both ends in this absorbing fixture.

France v Belgium Head to Head

How is the head to head between France v Belgium shaping up? Well, Belgium are 10-9 ahead with the nine drawn matches. The last time they met there was a brilliant 4-3 win for Belgium in a 2018 international friendly. This will be their first competitive meeting since their 1986 World Cup fixture which France won 4-2. Both teams have scored in just two of the last seven meetings.

Who will win – France v Belgium Predictions

It is France that we are looking at for the win in this one because they do look to have the better of the two squads. That could be important in changing the game either way later on in the fixture. Belgium are just more hit and miss and while they will pose a counter-attacking threat, France looks the more well-rounded of the two and can deliver the goods.\
