Everton v Chelsea Betting Preview
A top clash in the Premier League for Sunday, which sees two form teams go into battle at Goodison Park. Just two points separate third placed Chelsea from fifth placed Everton, so there are big points on offer. The race for a top four spot is running pretty tight this year, and with Chelsea starting to show a return to life under the guidance of Rafa Benitez, will Everton’s unbeaten home run in the Premier League be able to stand up to this very stern test?

Everton v Chelsea Recommended Bet:
The Toffees have been on a great run of form this season, even though they have not been as defensively sound as they usually are, they are still the side in the top flight which has suffered the fewest defeats. They have back to back wins at home after beating Spurs and Wigan, and actually their last three home wins have all come via a 2-1 scoreline, so a definite trend worth riding there as this could be a close match. Everton are now unbeaten in their last seven Premier League matches now, losing just one of their sixteen in the league. At Goodison Park this season they have ran up five wins, four draws and they have not suffered a defeat. The Toffees are a far more expansive side than they have probably ever been under David Moyes at the moment.
They have the class touch up front of Nikica Jelavic and the power in midfield of Marouane Fellaini which could trouble Chelsea. Everton have scored sixteen home goals this term at a rate of 1.78 per game, yet they haven’t been as defensively sound conceding at a rate of over 1 goal per game. Both teams have scored in Everton’s last fifteen matches now, so both sides are likely to get on the scoresheet on Sunday. 66% of Everton’s home games this season have gone over 2.5 goals. Everton have had struggles in falling behind this season, but they have shown tremendous resilience. They have scored first in nine of their 19 matches this term and have led at half time in seven of those matches. The Toffees are in good form against Chelsea, losing just one of the last eight against the Blues in the Premier League. The Toffees have hit the woodwork more times than any other side this season too.
Rafa Benitez takes a positive record to Goodison Park, winning five and drawing one of his last six Premier League encounters against Everton. The Blues are starting to come into some great form, winning the last three in a row in the league. After thumping Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge, Chelsea took a more defensive set up, and produced a competent, solid performance away at Norwich to take a 1-0 win on Boxing Day. That was just as impressive in many ways as their goal fest against Villa was. Juan Mata scored the winner against Norwich and the Spaniard has scored or assisted 14 goals in sixteen Premier League appearances this season.
The Blues have fired off 44 shots in their last two matches, and when you take out their two matches at the FIFA Club World Cup, Chelsea have won their last five matches by an massive aggregate of 23-3. So they are in good form and the Blues have a W5 D2 L2 away record this term, scoring at an average of 1.67 goals per game.Chelsea have also kept four clean sheets in their last six Premier League matches, so all round they are looking a much stronger side. A big test for them at Goodison Park though and they were defeated 2-0 in the corresponding fixture last term. A 2-1 Correct Score option for Everton at a price of 10/1 at online bookmaker Paddy Power looks good given the home form of the Toffees.
