Derby v Sunderland Prediction & Betting Tips – 30th March 2018

Derby v Sunderland Championship, 30th March 7.45pm

The Rams really ran out of winning form in the build-up to the international break but they have managed to hold on to a play off spot, just about at least. That is really hanging in the balance and they need maximum points here. They get to take on Sunderland who are still at the bottom of the table and a big five points away from safety. The Black Cats are carrying a long winless streak of their own.

Derby v Sunderland Betting Odds*

Derby 4/9, Draw 16/5, Sunderland 13/2* (Betting Odds taken at 8:11 p.m. on March 26th, 2018)

Derby News and Form

The Rams have now stretched out to a seven-match winless streak in the Championship (D5 L2) and their play off place is in big jeopardy now. They have only lost the two games in total in 2018 but the wins have faded away into a drawn matches by and large. Just before the international break, they played out back to back draws against QPR and Nottingham Forest away from home. Back at home, they had a great eight-match undefeated streak of form (W4 D4) snapped with a loss against Fulham in their last home fixture. Overall the Rams are W9 D5 L4 for the season at home. The sooner their winless streak can come to an end the more they can settle in and push for the finish line. They have been leading at half time in half of their home games and a Derby/Derby half time/ full-time bet at William Hill is at 13/10 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 06:15 p.m. on March 26th, 2018). They really should be making this count against the bottom side in the league.

Sunderland News and Form

The Mackems are still stuck at the bottom of the pile with only the five wins to their name all season. They have gone without one in their last ten games now (D3 L7) and are tanking badly. They are on a three-match losing streak as well, failing to score in any of those. They have only scored in two of their last seven league games and so Derby to win to nil at William Hill for 23/20 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 06:15 p.m. on March 26th, 2018) is going to have some appeal. The Black Cats have alternated between a loss and a draw in their last five away games and they have gone without a clean sheet in any of their last six away games now (and none in their last ten home and away combined). Sunderland are winless in six road games and they have conceded an average of 1.8 goals per away game this term, collecting a clean sheet in just 16% of their games away from the Stadium of Light. League One next season is looming large.

Derby v Sunderland Head to Head

The two played out a 1-1 draw at the Stadium of Light earlier in the season and that leaves Derby on an eleven match winless streak against Sunderland in all competitions. However, you have to put that into context as this season’s meeting was the first one between them since the 2007/08 Premier League so it had been a while. So you don’t have much current head to head to go by.

Who will win – Derby v Sunderland Predictions

Derby have to be good enough to put a win on the board in this one because if they don’t their confidence is going to wane and the play offs become even more of a difficult task to achieve. Sunderland aren’t there at the moment. Back the home win.
