Derby v Middlesbrough Prediction & Betting Tips – 21st April 201817th April 2018 / lee
Derby v Middlesbrough Championship, 21st April 3.00pm
The Rams have fallen back to losing ways which has jeopardized their chances of getting into the top six at the end of the season. This is a huge game for them now against Boro on the weekend as they start one point behind fifth-placed Boro. So this is equally as big for Middlesbrough as because three points in his one should all but seal a play off finish for them. This is intense.
Derby v Middlesbrough Betting Odds*
Derby 6/4, Middlesbrough 15/8, Draw 11/5* (Betting Odds taken at 4:55 p.m. on April 16th, 2018)
Derby News and Form
The Rams need the points out of this one to haul themselves back into the play off places. Wins have been hard to come by for them since early February but it looked as if they were going to put in a strong finish recently with back to back wins over Preston and Bolton. But that form collapsed and the Rams have lost their last two, defeats against leader leaders Wolves, which is excusable, but then against second-from-bottom Burton, which isn’t when you are pushing for promotion. Derby collected a clean sheet victory over Bolton in their last home game, snapping a four-match winless streak that they were on at home (D2 L2) so it just hasn’t been happening for them. They have found the back of the net in each of their last six games on home soil and each of their last four there have gone over 2.5 goals. But this is going to be tense so under 2.5 goals at 8/13 odds with William Hill* (Betting Odds taken at 4:55 p.m. on April 16th, 2018) looks the better option. Derby have averaged 1.65 goals per home game this season which isn’t a bad return and they have conceded at under a goal per game on average as well. Matej Vydra is their top scorer this season and will be their best option in the anytime goalscorer market.
Middlesbrough News and Form
Boro would strengthen their position in the top six greatly with three points in this one. They beat Bristol City on the weekend but that was at home and they are just D2 L1 in their last three on the road. They have only taken one victory in their last seven away games in the Championship actually. A win is so important for Boro here because Derby, who are a point behind them have a game in hand over them still. So if they move four points clear, that negates the game in hand that the Rams have. Boro have produced a W7 D6 L8 record for the season, and are on a five-match scoring streak on their travels. Both teams to score at William Hill is at 10/11 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:55 p.m. on April 16th, 2018). Boro have averaged 1.4 goals per away game this season and they are without a clean sheet in their last three on the road. Boro have scored two-thirds of their away goals in the second half of matches but they have conceded two-thirds of their away goals in the first half of matches. So they have had to play catch up quite a bit. Eight times away from home this season Boro have been trailing 1-0 at half time. In the William Hill correct score market a 1-1 draw is the shortest-priced option at 5/1 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:55 p.m. on April 16th, 2018).
Derby v Middlesbrough Head to Head
Middlesbrough tanked to a 3-0 home defeat against Derby earlier in the season and need to reverse that. Middlesbrough are actually W3 D1 L1 in their last five Championship fixtures against the Rams so do have good head to head form going from recent meetings. Boro have taken four points from their last two visits to Derby in the league as well. Both teams have scored in only one of the last six meetings and five of the last six have ended under 2.5 goals.
Who will win – Derby v Middlesbrough Predictions
Derby have crumbled again and their loss at relegation-bound Burton on the weekend was a hammer blow for them. Mathematically they are still in the play off race, but Boro are the more convincing of the two sides at the moment and can collect three points.
