Belgium v Japan Prediction & Betting Tips – World Cup 20182nd July 2018 / lee
Belgium v Japan World Cup 2018, 2nd July – 7.00 p.m
Belgium have what appears to be an easy round of sixteen match to deal with at the 2018 World Cup. The Red Devils have already shown some good form at the tournament and they will be expected to make light work of Japan. The Blue Samurai are a surprise name in the mix at this stage, but our Belgium v Japan betting tips can’t see the Asians having a huge impact.

Belgium v Japan Betting Tips
Hard to see much drama occurring in this one. Belgium topped their group ahead of England by winning all three of their matches and they just have the firepower in their ranks to cruise through this one. They gave a lot of their main starters a rest against England and that will just help them out in this one. Belgium to win by two goals is at 3/1 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from June 29th, 2018 at 9:43 p.m.). You can see this being pretty comfortable for the Red Devils and they are on a five-match winning streak at the moment. They have scored at least three goals in five of their last seven games and this should be all so easy for them. But we are dialing back the goal output because once they are ahead in the game they will likely coast.
There could be Brazil waiting in the round of sixteen so there is no need for Belgium to bust a gut in this one. Romelu Lukaku will fancy his chances of getting among the goals again as he is contesting the Golden Boot and he is the the 13/5 first goalscorer favourite for the match* (Betting Odds were taken from June 29th, 2018 at 9:43 p.m.). Belgium overall are undefeated in their last 22 games now and on top of their scoring output, they have collected six clean sheets in their last eight played. They have strengths everywhere and plenty of the bench as well. A Belgium 2-0 correct score option is at 11/2 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from June 29th, 2018 at 9:43 p.m.).
Japan are the surprise team in the round of sixteen. They opened with a win over Colombia after playing 85 minutes of the game with a man advantage. Then they battled back twice to earn a 2-2 draw with Senegal and despite losing their final match against Poland they made it through to the knockout stage. They have shown commitment and willingness but the quality hasn’t been great from the Blue Samurai, especially at the back. Japan have won just two of their last nine games and they are now on a ten-match streak without a clean sheet after their 1-0 loss against Poland. That was such as strange match as in the final ten minutes Japan just weren’t even trying to go and get a goal, putting all of their stock in Senegal failing to score against Colombia in the other. They got what they wanted in the end but they are unlikely to stand up to this challenge at this point of the competition. They have scored at least two goals in three of their last four games though.
Belgium v Japan Head to Head
The head to head is really interesting as Japan are 2-1 ahead. They did meet at the 2001/02 World cup with a 2-2 draw being played out. Belgium got their first win over the Blue Samurai in their most recent meeting which was a 1-0 success back in November last year for a friendly.
Who will win – Belgium v Japan Predictions
There should not be any scares for Belgium in this one. Their man starting eleven are pretty well rested and can ease their way through to the next round of the competition. Japan have impressed in getting this far, but this is where their journey will likely end. Belgium to win 2-0 in the correct score market is our prediction.
