Bayern Munich v PSG International Champions Cup 2018 Preview, 21st July 2.30 pm

The International Champions Cup really starts with a bang this summer. After the opening Man City v Borussia Dortmund fixture, Bayern Munich v PSG takes centre stage in what should be a fascinating showdown. Even though this is all just summer friendly stuff ahead of the new season, it still makes for a hugely interesting fixture between two of Europe’s heavyweights. There will be some stars missing after the World Cup but still, two star-studded lines up could be on display.

Bayern Munich v PSG Betting Odds*

Bayern Munich News and Form

Bayern Munich have a new man at the helm with Niko Kovac coming in to replacing Jupp Heynckes. They will be launching a Bundesliga title defence soon and they will want an improvement in the Champions League to happen as well. Kovac has been known for his counter-attacking tactics, such as he did during his time at Eintracht Frankfurt. Bayern Munich are resting James Rodriguez, Corentin Tolisso and Thomas Müller after the World Cup but they still have plenty of star quality about them. Enough to look over 2.5 goals at bet365 for 19/40 odds* (Betting Odds were taken from July 18th, 2018 at 10:22 p.m.) for this game anyway. It’s pre-season and it should be all totally relaxed. After this game, the Germans will head across the pond to the USA to take on Juventus and then Manchester City as part of the 2018 International Champions Cup.

PSG News and Form

PSG won’t be sending out star players Kylian Mbappe and Neymar for this one as those two are given rests after their World Cup campaigns. PSG boss Thomas Tuchel will be looking for a strong summer to forge ahead with and PSG have had it so easy on the domestic scene that they are favourites for more success there. But as with the big clubs around Europe, it is the UEFA Champions League that they will be more focused on. PSG have captured goalkeeping legend Gianluigi Buffon but so far it has been a quiet summer from them. Buffon has a W2 D2 L4 record against Bayern incidentally. PSG open their domestic season with a French Champions Trophy match against Monaco on August 4th. PSG have won the International Champions Cup twice before and we are having a look at both teams to score at 1/2 odds with bet365* (Betting Odds were taken from July 18th, 2018 at 10:22 p.m.) even though these types of games are really hard to read.

Bayern Munich v PSG Head to Head

The last time these two met Bayern took a 3-1 win which was in the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League. That was the eighth meeting between them in competitive matches with PSG holding a W5 L3 record from those previous meetings. PSG boss Tuchel has faced Bayern Munich 17 times as a manager and has a W5 D2 10 record against them.

Who will win – Bayern Munich v PSG Predictions

There should be enough in this game for at least a goal at both ends so that is worth looking at. Other than that it’s hard to read the game, but PSG do have more key players missing than Bayern and the depth of the Germans could win the day.
