Atalanta v Everton UEFA Europa League, 14th September 6.00pm
Things haven’t quite been going Everton’s way after much optimism was surrounding them ahead of the new season. Wins and goals have been hard to come by. They take a trip out to Italy on Thursday night to face up to Italian side Atalanta. They haven’t been exactly running in great form of their own either but they will be looking forward to European action after a 26 year absence. Everton are 19/20 underdogs here out on the road with Atlanta at 11/8 and the draw at 23/10.

Atalanta v Everton Betting Tips
The Italians were a very good home side last season. They played out a draw with Juventus in Bergamo last term as well as beating Roma and Napoli, both top four finishers in Serie A. Overall they only lost three times at home last season. They took a home win over Sassuolo on the weekend in the Italian top flight, which snapped back to back defeats which came against Roma and Napoli. They are back in Europe then after a long 26 year absence since they were beaten in the quarter finals of the UEFA Cup by Inter Milan in the 1990/91 season. The Italians will meet Everton for the first time. This will be Atalanta’s first game against English opponents too. They are unbeaten in five home matches in Europe and they may well have a big say in this game which could be a tight contest. Under 2.5 goals at bet365 is trading at a price of 4/6.
Everton are lacking some firepower and they go into this off the back of a loss against Tottenham on the weekend in the Premier League. Everton have faced Italian sides before and they hold a W1 D2 L3 record from their six previous encounters with Serie A sides. Each of the defeats in that sequence happened out on the road. The Toffees have actually failed to score in five of their six previous games against Italian opponent and Atalanta to win to nil at bet365 returns a price of 11/4. Everton have remained unbeaten in their four European games this season (W3 D1) and they have lost just one of their last seven away games in UEFA competition with a W3 D3 L1 record. Everton have made it through all three of their previous UEFA Cup/UEFA Europa League group stage campaigns, most recently in 2014/15. Atalanta’s Alejandro Gomez and Andreas Cornelius are 2/1 joint favourites in the bet365 anytime goalscorer market.
Who will win – Atalanta v Everton Predictions
Atalanta to win: At this stage, Everton have not been convincing enough to suggest that they can handle what appears to be a tricky away game in Europe. They really haven’t found their feet the season and may struggle to produce much in the way of offensive output on the road.
