Arsenal v AC Milan Prediction & Betting Tips – 15th March 201814th March 2018 / lee
Arsenal v AC Milan UEFA Europa League, 15th March 8.05pm
The Gunners produced arguably their best away performance of the entire season to land themselves a 2-0 win at the San Siro in the first leg of this round of sixteen tie. So that is a big advantage to the Gunners now and with AC Milan having a pretty poor record in England, things are looking up for Arsenal to take a step forward in the competition.
Arsenal v AC Milan Betting Odds*
Arsenal 21/10, AC Milan 5/2, Draw 5/1* (Betting Odds taken at 4:25 p.m. on March 13th, 2018)
Arsenal News and Form
So Arsenal hold a good advantage then in this one after a great performance in Italy. But with Arsenal this season there is always a reason to be cautious. They churned out a stinker in their last European home match, a 2-1 loss to Swedish minnows Ostersunds in the last round. That defeat snapped an unbeaten eight-match sequence that they were on at home in UEFA Cup/Europa League matches (W6 D2). That defeat against Ostersunds also means that Arsenal have lost each to their last six European home games in spring action, shipping 17 goals in the sequence. They have also gone out at the round of 16 stage in each of their last seven European seasons. But their last home triumph in the spring in Europe was against AC Milan in their 2011/12 clash against them in the round of sixteen. Just because the visitors have to come and press and Arsenal have looked a bit dodgy at the back this season both teams to score at William Hill is at 13/20 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:25 p.m. on March 13th, 2018). Arsenal have won 14 away first legs in UEFA competition and qualified on each occasion, and on each of the five occasions they won the first leg 2-0 away from home, they won the home leg too. Arsenal’s record against Italian sides is W16 D8 D8 (W9 D4 L2 at home).
AC Milan News and Form
Tough tie now for AC Milan. Seven times before in Europe they have lost the first leg at home in a tie and have managed to turn around the situation just once. AC Milan were really gathering up a head of steam for the season before that loss against Arsenal, which was a bit of a surprise. The Italians had gone unbeaten in their first non-European game this season, winning seven of them before they lost their match day six group stage at Rijeka. Overall on the road this season in Europe they are W4 D1 L1 with ten goals scored and one conceded. In the William Hill correct score market an Arsenal 2-1 at 15/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 4:25 p.m. on March 13th, 2018) does have a fair amount of appeal. In the last round, they won on the road at Ludogorets, which snapped a nine-match winless streak away from home in springtime European action. The Rossoneri’s overall record against English clubs in UEFA competition is W11 D11 L13 and in England itself that is just W1 D6 L9. So their chances of overturning their deficit in this high profile tie isn’t great. If this gets to a penalty shoot-out the advantage could be on the side of the Italians who are W4 L1 in previous UEFA penalty shoot outs. Arsenal are W2 L2.
Arsenal v AC Milan Head to Head
Prior to this season, the two sides had come together twice before, both in the Champions League round of sixteen. The first was in the 2007/08 season with Arsenal taking a 2-0 aggregate win (0-0 home, 2-0 away) before a few season’s later (2011/12) it was AC Milan who came out on top with a 4-3 aggregate success. There was also a 1995 UEFA Super Cup meeting between the two with AC Milan taking a 2-0 aggregate victory in that.
Who will win – Arsenal v AC Milan Predictions
Arsenal should handle the pressure well enough on home soil to get themselves through to the next round. AC Milan have to come out and perform now with their backs being against the wall and that should favour Arsenal’s chances of picking them off again. Home win but both teams to score.
