Burnley v Brighton Premier League Preview, 28th April 12.30pm
The Clarets have taken just the one point from their last two games having had their big winning streak snapped. But they will be looking to get back to winning ways in this one against a Brighton side who are on a five-match winless streak. The Seagulls have really done enough to not to have to worry about relegation this season though at least.
Burnley v Brighton Betting Odds*
Burnley 6/5, Draw 2/1, Brighton 5/2* (Betting Odds taken at 6:25 p.m. on April 23rd, 2018)
Burnley News and Form
Burnley’s five-match winning streak came to an end last Thursday as they faced up to Chelsea at Turf Moor and lost. They followed that up on the weekend with a 1-1 draw at Stoke. The Clarets are W2 D2 L1 in their last five at home so they will have appeal for punters in being able to bounce back. The Clarets have scored in each of their last eight league games now and have netted exactly two in two of their last three at home. In the Ladbrokes correct score market a Burnley 1-0 is the shortest-priced option at 11/2 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 9:43 p.m. on April 23rd, 2018). This is likely to be a low scoring game as Brighton aren’t a great offensive threat, but Burnley have actually conceded in each of their last eight at Turf Moor. There has to be a good chance for them to snap that streak. Burnley have conceded 15 and have scored 15 goals at home this season in the top flight and only 29% of their games at Turf Moor have made it over the 2.5 goal line (but each of their last three have done so). 60% of the goals that the Clarets have produced on home soil have come in the second half of games, while they have conceded two-thirds of their home goals after the half time break.
Brighton News and Form
The Seagulls look to have done enough to get safe despite not being in form currently. They have taken just two points from their last five games but battled to a great home point against Spurs last week. Away from home, the Seagulls have lost their last two games and are winless in ten top-flight road fixtures. They have shipped a goal in each of their last five on the road and overall this season they have tallied just the nine league goals away from the Amex. So far this season Brighton haven’t taken a single away point against anyone currently inside the top nine, failing to score in each of those. Both teams not to score at Ladbrokes is at 4/6 odds* (Betting Odds taken at 9:43 p.m. on April 23rd, 2018). They haven’t been terrible defensively at all away from home but have conceded 59% of their away goals in the second half of away games. They have scored seven of their nine road goals in the first half of matches. 72% of their points this season have been produced at home and their away record stands at W2 D4 L10 for the season.
Burnley v Brighton Head to Head
There was a 0-0 draw between these two back in December at the Amex in what was their first ever Premier League meeting and that is a four-match sequence of drawn games between them now. From the last six meetings at Turf Moor, things are even with one win each and four drawn matches. Just one of the last six games between Burnley and Brighton have managed to go above the 2.5 goal line.
Who will win – Burnley v Brighton Predictions
Burnley look as if they can do enough on home soil to get themselves a good three points in this one. Brighton will turn up and put themselves about of course, but the Clarets to sneak the three points by a one-goal margin looks a solid proposition.
