Cardiff manager Dave Jones still believes that his team can land an automatic promotion spot this season, although the Bluebirds will need to put together a string of victories if City are to guarantee a place in the Premier League next term. Despite losing Peter Whittingham to injury on Tuesday night, they were the better team against West Brom and the front pairing of Michael Chopra and Jay Bothroyd are likely to give the Barnsley defence plenty of problems. Cardiff had previously won their past four home matches and can take advantage of an out-of-form Tykes team.
While Mark Robins has done well in his first season at Oakwell, the team have lost their last three matches and the defence has leaked seven goals in that game, something that doesn‘t bode well for their trip to south Wales. Ryan Shotton will return from suspension for the visitors, although Iain Hume (another former Tranmere player) is injured with a hamstring injury and the worst run since the manager took charge looks likely to continue. Best odds for the Cardiff win is 1.75 with Bwin.
