At the start of the season, Barnsley were looking like relegation candidates, although Mark Robins‘ team moved into the top half of the Championship after a win against Watford last Saturday. Although they were second best at Middlesbrough on Tuesday night, the Tykes appear to have recovered from their blip in January which saw the south Yorkshire side lose four of their five matches. Kieran Trippier has arrived on loan from Manchester City and had an accomplished debut at the Riverside, while the home side will have extra motivation for this game after the Tykes led 4-1 at Home Park earlier in the season before the match was postponed.
Plymouth look to be losing their fight against relegation and the Pilgrims have now lost ten of their fourteen matches on the road after Reading beat them 2-1 on Tuesday. Argyle are nine points from safety and Paul Mariner‘s team have now lost five of their past six games in all competitions. Former West Ham midfielder Carl Fletcher wears the armband for Plymouth these days, although he‘ll have a job trying to rally the troops for the long trip north and Barnsley have to be taken based on previous form. Best odds for the Barnsley win is 1.75 with Expekt.
