Northampton Town v Aldershot Town February 12, 2010
Northampton‘s home form doesn‘t look too great on paper (five wins from fifteen matches at the Sixfields Stadium), although a closer look at their recent form reveals that they are the form team in the division. Indeed, the Cobblers could still feasibly finish in the automatic promotion places this season and Ian Sampson‘s team produced the result of Tuesday night when beating an in-form Accrington Stanley team by four goals to nil. Billy McKay came to life with a brace, with Adebayo Akinfenwa proving virtually unplayable as Town extended their unbeaten run to eleven matches.
It‘s hard to see Aldershot troubling that statistic, with Kevin Dillon‘s team on the receiving end of a 3-0 drubbing at Barnet on Saturday. The Shots have lost their last three matches on the road (including a 6-1 beating at Burton) and their hopes of finishing in the play-off positions this season are starting to fade badly. Most of their best performances have come at the Recreation Ground and striker Marvin Morgan has now gone nine games without scoring, something which has coincided with a bad run. Best odds for the Northampton win is 1.95 at Betclic.
