Southampton v Brighton and Hove Albion November 15, 2009
Southampton‘s position of 22nd is misleading, not least as they were handed a 10-point deduction at the start of the season. The Saints also got off to a slow start, although they are now unbeaten in their last eight matches, having won four of their last five league matches. In Rickie Lambert, the south coast team have arguably the best striker in the division, with the former Bristol Rovers man managing thirteen goals already and looking for more against a Seagulls team who have struggled badly this term.Gus Poyet has just been appointed as new Brighton manager and is likely to steer the club away from the relegation zone after a bad start under Russell Slade. However, with just one win on the road all season and thirteen goals conceded in seven matches, it‘s unlikely that St Mary‘s will be the place where Albion turn a corner. A 2-1 defeat at Tranmere in their last game suggests that the new gaffer will need time to make things happen. Best odds for the Southampton win is 1.62 at Paddy Power.
