As always Spain enter tournaments being one of the favourites, but normally they are then kicked out rather early.
This time it could be different. They have a strong squad and are unbeaten for quite some time. The recent friendlies were not too convincing, but at least the late winning goals should have kept the morale high.
Russia are considered strong by many and St. Petersburg's Uefa-Cup triumph some weeks ago showed the strength of Russian football.
We all know about the qualification of Russia, but maybe they are slightly overrated.
Don't get me wrong, they can qualify for the quarter-finals as they are absolutely on the same level as Sweden and Greece, but Spain might just be too strong for Russia.
Upfront they will miss Arshavin (banned) and likely also their second striker Pogrebnyak (injured) and in the back they could have problems against Torres or Villa.
We bet on Spain with a slightly reduced stake of 4 units (because it's the first match in the tournament for both teams) at best odds of 1.75 at Paddy Power.
